(...Shamelessly raises hand)
Yep, and I'm one of them people that want to play Elyos because of the visual concept of the wings; and not cuz they're "good". Heck, I elected to play Assassin class, so that speaks volumes about my intention to be... what's that word... "dangerously mischievious". Will I play Asmodian afterwards as a second character? I most definitely will... if anything, they're an intriguing race. But for now, when the game gets released, I just want to effect a humanlike-prettyboy facade while I decimate the opposition. You could call it reverse psycology.

I'm sure the Asmodian wings have been changed to black feathers?

I have a few reasons why i have chosen Asmodian...
Lore- I've read the lore for Asmodians and Elyos, and it clearly states that Asmodians are a hardy, more rough faction, and would give there life for a comrade without a second thought because of there loyal nature. The Elyos on the other hand, were described light hearted, living in a lush environment, and have gained perfect complexions. BUT, it stated that the Elyos were very "snotty" and the page i read on the official site gave me the impression that they thought they are better then whomever they see. This is all in my opinion, and i may be magnifing there snottyness, but the page i read did say they were known for being stuck-up. So, i've gotten the veiw point as to how the Asmodians would act with eachother. When they were stuck in the dark northlands, they must have had to help eachother, gaining trust for everyone around them to survive. To me, the Asmodians look like the true "Good Guys" in this tale, and the Elyos being snotty, stuck-up greedy perfect looking angelic beings. Appearance- Asmodians just look....cool. Im not much for the "hulking appearance", so i will make my guy of a lean, but yet muscular build. The claws on an Asmodians hands is just plain sweet, and same with his clawed feet. And, if im correct, the final announced wings for the Asmo's are Raven like wings, which just is...cool. Ravens are majestic, in a weird twisted way. They do have a "dark presence" but they are only as dark as what kind of setting you put them in. Usually in a story i pick the stereotypical good guy, to get the feeling of being "The Main Character". But, I have gone carefully through the story, and it looks like the real true heroic faction here is the Asmodians. Last edited by Ocilios; 08-17-2008 at 01:28 AM.. |

From the general race lore "As a people, the Elyos can be comforting, with a warm and friendly manner. Against foes however, no such trace of kindliness or benevolence can be found." "To their own, Asmodians are infinitely generous and fiercely loyal - they would sooner give their life in battle than to see that of a comrade taken from them. However, outsiders beware; Asmodians are an increasingly hostile faction and will not think twice before bringing their colossal power into play." Both races are kind to their own both races have horrid opinions of one another. The lore is very much so a subjective thing in truth. The Elyos seem to endorse a typical religious mindset when looking at their's and the Asmo situation. Meanwhile, I doubt the Asmodians are going to admit they feel cursed nor will they pretend that they are blessed, they will simply trudge through the situation as a strong person should. Sorry about the rant, something about people seeing the Elyos as super snotty or the Asmodians as evil (I know you didn't do this) sets off a weird twitch in my head after a while. |

Yeah, like, whatever side a person is on, there gonna see there race differently then others. In my mind, the Asmo's have suffered alot of hardship, and are toally misunderstood by the humans and Elyos of the land. Im not saying that if the elyos stopped being arrogant, then all the daevas problems would be solved. No, of course not. Look at how hateful and brutal the Asmo's are. Im just saying that NCsoft have described the asmo's as loyal, trustworthy, very generous, and would give there life for a comrade without a second thought." i like that better then "Elyos can be comforting, with a warm and friendly manner. Against foes however, no such trace of kindliness or benevolence can be found." and also about them having an arrogance from thinking they are the "Blessed ones". I'm not like that in real life, and i dont wanna repersent one in Aion. Thats all.

Erm, this strayed a bit from the topic, but anyway.
It was never said that the Asmodians had a 'hard' life at the darker side. The only difference between the Elyos and the Asmodians was that one lived in an environment bathed in light while the other lived in darkness. This only says about the amount of light in the area, not if the area is prosperous and easy to live in. We just assumed that the Asmodian had a harder life, since we associate 'living in darkness' as bad and hard. But it was never stated so in the any article, at least I haven't found anything that said so. With that said, I believe that the arrogance of the Elyos has been confirmed by an article posted recently. I can't remember which one though.

i think the elyos wings are better than the asmos because of its angelic look, im not saying the the asmos are bad but they could use a little help.

personally, i prefer bat-ish wings normally. but for some reason, being able to make the wings appear makes more sense to me if the are feathery. flesh doesn't just appear out of flesh, but the feathers make it seem more detached and...as odd as it sounds more possible i guess.
plus the renderings are more eye pleasing, intricate feathers versus semi-shapeless globs of skin... if i could, i would just play one of each, because i apsolutely love the rest of the design for asmodians. but i don't think it'll let me do that on the same server. so i guess we'll see, but for now...elyos hands down.

if this is not a counter argument i dont know what is. back on topic though, the early concepts before they introduced the Asmos, they had the wings with a blue hue and wings with a brown hue. are the brown ones still around?

I think the wings for both sides are awesome really, i was more worried about the animations for the wings more then anything during flight looking buggy or something.
I understand why some people would roll one way or another based on how thier wings look with thier toons, its jsut what they like myself im more worried about how i look without wings, having them is just a bonus.
