You were going to be playing the good guys when you picked Elyos? I ask this because, it looks like neither faction is good or evil, but fighting for things that are more morally and emotionally complex then just a good vs evil type of situation...the wiki for it (not wikia, wiki) states this too. I have no doubt that in each others eyes, they view each other as the fault for the Tower of Eternity being lost, and thus as the ''bad guy''... even if they weren't the ones who destroyed it. They still had different views on what to do with the Balaur...I'm wondering, which ones had which views? Did they release that info yet? Is the regular wiki lying to me?

It would be neat to see the Asmodians who wanted peace and the Elyos who wanted to finish the fighting...totally throw off people who assume by appearance.

Ppl are only picking sides based on looks. If someone is playing elyos to be good they are mistaken and vice versa. To be honest i wud prefer to play asmodian but only reason im picking elyos is cuz ive been searching for a game with character creation this detailed to create the char ive been dying to play as and elyos' more human look is wat i need to design my char lol, so i choose them. The asmodians however are more interesting to me tho.

It's still up in the air to me...I really like the divine look of Elyos, but only the character customization screen will be able to sway me towards Asmodians if they end up being better in that department...

Otherwise, Angel wings are just a big thing for my imagination.

I'm cool with the neutrality but when I first saw Aion and decided to be Elyos, I thought I was part of the "good" side. Now I understand that both sides have their faults and goodness and are really just the same race and people. Like I said I'm cool with this, it really doesn't matter to me, but don't expect any mercy from me asmodians when we meet in the abyss!>:-)
Besides, I think the real bad guys are the Balaur.

That's a good way of looking at it...I prefer it this way because good vs evil creates too many stereotypes, and when it's more complex as far as motivations and morals, feelings and things like that go, it tends to create something original and refreshing instead.

I too figured Elyos were the good guys until I did research.

Well Elyos, like you guys know, arn't the 'good' guys, but they do give off that feel. I mean, they have angel wings for crying out loud...
But imo it will be more like a, "I think my side is the 'good' side" kind of speil. The Asmodians have just as much claim to righteousness as the Elyos, they just don't live on the sunny side of the world, thus the difference in looks.
But there will be Elyos players who act self-righteous and Asmodians who will act out the 'evil' they think their char's represent, omho.
It's all about how you view the races for now, until more info on the story line comes out.

Elyos could end up being the bad guys who only look nice, and vise versa.

It's all talk now as stated, but the normal wiki has this on it:

While many player refer to the two races as "Good" and "Evil" respectively, the developers explicitly pointed out that they can not be categorized as simply good or evil, but that their motives are much more complex.

I also have reason to go by that quote because of the storyline released so far, it would pit both races viewing each other as evil for doing the opposite of what they originally wanted. One wanted to live in prosperity, the other wanted to fight and end the war. That, too, could change however...

I think the way this game's been set up is really interesting, having both sides thinking they're the good side... because realistically you never really get an enemy group doing something bad just "to be bad", they think they're right. To answer the question... no, not really. It was really just based on the way they looked which I thought looked better than the Asmodians. Just a personal preference.

no I don't think elyos r "good" , angelic side. maybe only ppl more for light side will join and asmo will have more dark side ppl, but still there will be "black" wings in elyos side ... like I will be (I hope) :P

If the servers are like WoW where you pick one side and are locked into that side I'll pick Elyos because they look... well I don't want to say "clean" because that would imply Asmo are dirty, or do I? Hmmmm.

You can say they look more human then Asmodians, which is true.

That's why I really like this games story so far...it's more planned out then good guys vs bad guys. Asmodians could end up being the nicer ones. We never know...

I respect your opinion but I must disagree. Saying there is no good and evil in the world is like saying shooting a small child or infant is just the same in moral value as say, helping an old lady across the street.

As for the original topic, even if Elyos turn out to be bad or whatever, I'm still going to play as a good character. But then again, killing your own kin in the abyss seems kinda bad so... we'll just have to wait and see how the story goes.

See there? xD Differing viewpoints, of course I'd like to think there is a good and an evil but I can't help but wonder if that's just the way my brain is programmed to think in order to have a better chance for survival, or not.

Good vs evil to me is just both sides trying to justify their existence as the greater good. It's based in morally gray, life changing decisions and the consequences of those decisions, so usually it is deeper then good aligned and evil aligned motives, but just a difference in view or opinion, which leads to resentment for being different.
