SM vs Sorc (L30-L35)

I'm thinking of making a low level twink, mostly for farming low level balaur mats, and of course being able to pick off people who also farm them.

Since I'm not too familiar with the skills at around that level, I'm wondering what people's opinions are on which is a stronger class in general at that level range.

Can this fking mob unit be MORE hard to kill ??!?!
It has an extremely powerful, RANGED attack(hits me for 666 dmg at level 43 lol) + it can SILENCE you.
Like WTFPWNED? If your shield is down, you're as good as dead...

Anyone share this opinion?

Male Cloth Gear

So I usually play Female toons, but I like the design of the male asmodians in this game so i'm going to try a male sorcerer, but I cant seem to find a decent site with accurate images of the cloth armor on males, there's only that one site (some korean one I believe with all the armor listings) but it's messed up from what I can tell in terms of Gear-to-Proper Race.

Any Screenshots, links etc? So far the male clothies i've seen all look bulkier than the plate wearing males. :angry:

We got some orbs and books with +x% atk speed. does atk speed lower our magic spells cooldown or what? because i dont think it has influence on our casting time.

It seams Sorc gets tons of things to Manage their Mana, Do SM's Have bad down time waiting on Mana? I would assume that a Sorc can kill a mob Faster but who is more efficient over time?

Hi I currently play a Cleric and would like to know what the most used/most powerful elements are for the Sorceror and Spirit Master classes? Currently I'm using Summer Circle against sorcs (raises fire/earth resist, lowers wind/ice). and Winter Circle against SMs (raises ice/wind resist, lowers fire/earth).

Now i understand that this may seem like a QQ thread, I play sorc and it seems whenever i am in pvp 1v1 i seem to get resisted at least 70% of the time. I use a spellbook and gem as much magic accuracy as i can without sacrificing to much boost (prolly 2:3), and take careful note of area and wings to be wary of lvl gaps [at least not in my favor lol]. Just after some input from other mages on pvp resists, too great? too little? pants? no pants?

Weapon effectiveness for SM/Sorc?

So I found Maze's Center - Items - Aion this morning, and was very excited that I managed to find an orange/yellow world drop. Those that didn't click the link, it's the 25 Asmo Orb.

So trying to take bids on it, and the only one on the Broker is almost 3mil, one person said they'd pay something like that if they could to have it, and others say it isn't worth much. One guy tried offering me 500k for it, saying it isn't worth much because it's not a "physical weapon" like a greatsword which is used to attack. I called BS on it.

Now since I don't play a caster, is this valid? Are orbs/tomes just stat sticks? Or do you guys ever need to autoattack, or does the damage help effect any skills/spells? I argued that it must matter, that you wouldn't always have something useful off of cooldown or that it did effect damage. obvious the MP and accuracy and boosts and such are a plus in general.

And secondly, how much would those knowledgeable in such things, say this is worth? obviously it varies server to server, I'm on Israphel, but I'd like to see opinions across the board before I make a decision. Not a lot of interest in my attempts to collect bids yet. Someone even tried offering 200k lol. But come on the blue 25 crafted tome/orb go for 400-500k like all the rest of the blue crafteds I'm sure, so this must be worth much more.

So it's been one month since NA and EU Aion has been released and we are starting to see the small pool of 50s start to grow, and with them the acqusition of gold weapons.

Despite the current crying about ranged classes (although poor players will always cry about other classes), the current trend in KAion and CAion PvP is quite different. An old thread stated the current status of the leaderboard of KAion showing a overwhelming amount of Assassins, followed by a rather even distribution of physical attack classes, lastly with the caster classes bringing up the rear.

While this isn't indicative of PVP balance (achieving a high rank in PvP in this game encourages farming and AVOIDING PvP, but that is something for another thread) the tournaments and general view towards the different classes seems to be somewhat similar despite the setting, heavily geared melee and ranged physical classes dominate. A lack of physical defense and a now rather meager damage shield simply means that caster classes in general simply get shredded.

So what is there to be done? Can there be anything done? Should anything be done?

1.6 (supposedly) will allow SM pets to fly and finally allow spells to follow the same auto-completion that other skills have. Will this be enough?

Sm vs Sorc

So.. could someone tell me why a party would want an SM instead of a Sorc? I suppose having both would be alright, but with the other archetypes, both specialty classes seem to play the same roles to some extent. I'm trying to figure out if an SM is a DD class, CC class, or garbage class. Thanks and peace.

ill try keep it short . Currently i have a lvl 23 sorc, i dont know why but i cant really find the motivation atm to lvl him, even tho abyss lvl is close. I am not bothered with having to grind (plenty quests around tbh) but something puts me off from it, maybe its the class, sorc is quiete stationary for example (read extreme).
So i am kinda exploring if some other class would maybe get me into the motivation to invest time into x class more often.

Did anyone roll from sorcerer to spiritmaster and felt like '' damm i should have started with a Spiritmaster?''

+points of sorc: only magic class that has the PEWPEWPEWPEWPEWPEWPEW KABOOM BAAAM BOOM :D, challenge to get casttime attacks off, has variation of interrupt+cc, most awesome midair attack (aetherflame magicfist pewpew).

-points of sorc: no descent group utilltie like disspel/offensive,defensive, -50% healing received attack on target, longer casttimes on target, less flytime on target, bind or other, really stationary, even their barrier of severance is 2 sec cast, sleep/CoR bit gimmicky in Mass pvp, where it will most likely be broken by hits or by a dot.

+point of spiritmaster:Awesome looking pets, awesome utillitie, mobillitie while doing dmg (aka not so stationary), best cc in pvp, only offensive dispeller ingame(aka being wanted).

-points of spiritmaster:RUBBISH scaling, no midair attack, no PEWPEWPEWPEW KABOOM ect, pet cant fly atm.

Just wanna see what ppl their experiences are or why they chose spiritmaster/sorc if they maybe had doubts between the two.

I'm a level 23 sorcerer trying to decide what the best type of armour for me is. I came across this armour set online http://aion.mmosite.com/guide/suit/elyos_1.shtml but I don't see a name for the armour anywhere... anyone have any ideas?

Or better yet anyone know of a good sorcerer armour at level 23?

Is there a built in resistance to reapplying CC?

My background was in DAoC and SWG, albiet a long while back; the way those games work now may have changed so I can only go with my observations from then. In those games, if I applied a CC (sleep,mez,root, w/e) to a target, and then that CC ended either because the timer expired or they took an attack that broke the CC, opposite behaviors occured.

On one end I could reapply the same CC, and the target would be affected the same way as before (i.e. semi-perma rooting or sleeping the target).

On the other end, once the target was out of CC they got a high resistance to being CCd again for a duration usually equivilant to how long they were under CC the first time; if you rooted someone fo 20 seconds and they were actually rooted until the timer ran out, then they could not be rooted again by anyone for 20 seconds.

There were even some times with behavior inbetween. If the target was rooted, they had a resistance to being rooted but did not mean they could not be slept, mezed, or otherwise CCd, so you could just alternate between your various skills and keep someone controlled for as long as you wanted as long as you managed your cooldowns properly, or had someone else to jump in to hit them with the CC.

Since Sorcs and SMs both have distance CC in the form of fears, roots, sleeps, etc, I was wondering what the mechanic appears to be for this in Aion. Can we Sleep and keep someone captive as long as we needed/wanted, or does the target get a short term resistance to Sleep after they break free?

Hi Everyone!

New player here, just started up a mage, and I've been doing some research on what to do once I hit level 10. I really enjoy CC in most MMO's, and I keep reading conflicting ideas on which path to go. I read that Sorc is the best CC, but then other people are saying SM has the best.

Can someone please break it down for a newbie like me, and explain what the differences are in the CC abilities of Sorc vs. SM?

Spiritmaster vs Sorcerer

i play on the server Nekekan, which has a high % of sorcerer's and a low % of SM, i have also created a level 25 version of both.
so far the Spiritmaster is reigning supreme since i hardly ever get touched in PvE. Although i would love a high level character, i was just wondereing how SM holds up in PvP, since thats what i am looking forward to the most.

Over to sorcerer, The damdage it deals is insane, and so far the only problem with it is the dieing rate,im pretty sure im not playing it correctly since ever time i go out to grind or even quest i die almost straight away. i knwo that this class is awesome for solo PvP but i was just wondering is it an easy target, for if im unaware there is an assassin behind me, will i die for sure?

Anyway, the whole point of this thread is, Who is better to play in the LONG RUN, Sorcerer or Spiritmaster?

It seems like a sorc can do everything an sm can do just doing it even better and they do not have to rely on a pet (which face it pets have been HORRIBLE in every single mmo released to date due to them not scaling with gear etc...)

So why would anyone choose SM?

Does everyone just think that Elyos cloth armor is the worst in the game, for male and female? I just think it's the worst. Either I wear frilly hotpants or I fight in an evening gown. Even going to a broker and trying on the highest level gear, it looks horrible. I want to play a sorc and I have friends that play Elyos but I'm either going to have to reroll an asmodian or play something else.

Sorry, just a bit frustrated.
