Cleric/Chanter 1v1 style?

I'm making a priest alt because sorc got boring to me.

At abyss I saw priests kicking *** of so many people while chanters... well... not so much.
Wich is surprising to me, after all, chanters should be able to do way more damage than a priest.

However, I'd like to gather some feedback from the community. On 1v1 scenario only, how would be your style? Would a cleric or a chanter be considered stronger?

Chanter's main role?

and will i have a hard time finding groups later on in PvE PvP??

Now I know there are about a million threads like this but I need to clarify for myself.

I've always been the healer in every mmo I've played, EQ, FFXI etc. I've always enjoyed the main healer class but am just not sure if Cleric does it for me in Aion. My cleric isn't that high yet but I have healed in groups and just find it to be, boring? Does this pick up in later levels?
I also have a Chanter and was wondering if I should just roll with it instead. But I hear so much negative about chanters it makes me uneasy.

I find it hard to find much said about any class that is good. I've read the guides people have made for both classes and they don't seem to answer what I'm looking for.
So I was wondering, what do you play? Chanter or Cleric? What makes it enjoyable for you? Because right now I'm sitting on the fence and can't pick a side.

Should I have rezzed him?

I want to talk about something that has nyerked me off a few days back. There was this templar that was having a tough time fighting some stuff he had aggroed. He was like maybe 1 hit away from dying, so I healed and buffed him and went along my way. A few minutes later after his fight was done the guy walks over to the node I am gathering from and starts gathering in between when I successfully completed the first gather and right before I started the second gather. I just walked off and in disgust. For the next 5 nodes this guy did the same thing. I was like what the hell. So I go back to the market area to sell because I was near full anyways. So on my way back from selling to gather again, guess who is dead now and begging for a rez in area chat. I happily walked past his corpse and went on gathering. Do you think I should have rezzed him?

Self healing range bug

Let me explain, if you're healing spell has a range of 25m you cannot heal yourself if your hostile target is beyond the spells range limit, even though the actual target of the spell is yourself. If you are within 25m or w/e the spells range is, you can heal yourself just fine while having a hostile targeted. However if your target leaves this range you can no longer heal yourself without targetting your character first.

Anyone else notice this? I posted this on the bug forum. Doubt anyone will see it though =/

Clearly this is bad coding and should be fixed because it's pure nonsense that never should have made it past beta testing.

hey, im going to level with a friend, i rolled a priest and he rolled a warrior - were gonna level together.
were thinking of going chanter/gladiator.
how is the combo? will questing be easy for us at higher levels and how will pvp be for us considering we will be together.
will chanter/templar or templar/cleric be a better idea?

Why are resist rates so terrible 1-9?

This is the 3rd time going 1-9 on a priest. Already have a cleric and now making a chanter and also have a chanter on a different server that I quit. The resist rates from 1-9 are just retarded. I get at least 1 resist every 3rd or 4th fight and sometimes I can get off 3-4 resists in a row on 1 mob. I understand if resists are high later in the game and fighting elites but this many resists on levels 1-9, come on. On the other hand when I leveled my spiritmaster I can probably count the resists I had total from 1-9 on 1 hand. Anyone else noticed this when they were leveling their newbie priest?

Yes I know its only the first 10 levels QQ more.

Pots Vs HoT's

I was quite annoyed to discover that the Heal over time potions overwrite our (chanter's at least) HoT spells. I was even more disappointed that our HoT spells overwrite superior HoT pots...

Now I personally prefer HoT pots as you can pop them at the start of a fight if you get an extra mob or something, and they tend to keep you ticking over nicely. Single heal pots generally leave you wanting the CD for a mana pot as you tend to use them later in a fight.

The thing is you can still use a single heal pot, which generally replaces the same HP AND have a Hot running, but you can't have a HoT pot and a cast hot running at the same time..

I know it's not the end of the world, and there's kittens out there that needs hugs and stuff, but I find it VERY irritating that such a mechanic exists in the game :pow:

So what do you get for the 100 rez thing?

Hey folks, looking for a bit of advice.

I got a cleric up to lvl14 and I'm starting to wonder if I should have gone chanter or rolled a dps toon instead, then I was reading that heals don't scale which seems kinda... crazy.

Is this a well thought out game mechanic where instead of heals scaling dmg reduction scales instead to keep DPS/healing roughly in step on players as gear increases? Or a bit of a nyerk up that'll make healing increasingly hard as gear advances or its fixed?

Do chanters scale better since they're more buff/dps than healing?

I played a holy paladin in the game that shall not be named, and hated the fact I had such little offense. I love supporting/healing, but I want to be able to be offensive to, even if its with cc/debuffs/mana burns etc rather than DPS.

I also 'read' a lot that chanters suck (which I take with a pinch of salt.. but..) and are really bad in solo pvp. I'm not hugely bothered about solo PVP, but at the same time I don't want to put myself in for a load of being murdered with no come back either if I can avoid it.

i generally play tanks in mmo's but the templar and gladiator really arent very appealing to me. i know, priests certainly arent ideal. but i was wondering if priests can tank at higher lvls, and how you're speccing to do it; and which priest subclass you're doing it with. what disadvantages to priest tanks have compared to templars at tanking?

But it is almost time to pick a side and I have things about each I really like and things I am not as crazy about = so I thought I would ask here for help from players that have some answers.

Yes - before you ask - I have read the other threads on "Which one is best" and that is one reason I am confused.

You see - I mostly solo. I know I know I know this is a MMO - but I run a small business out of my home and it is very hard to do LONG groups - I am fine with a duneon or quick quest - but usually build my characters around Solo.

My one problem is that I am Dreadfulllllll at healing in a group! I love the healing ability (for me TeeHee) but just totally forget to heal others.......or can't seem to be quick enough to heal someone that needs it because a) I can't click on them cause they are moving around b) I didn't pay enough attention that someone was low on health c) I was busy trying to kill a mob or or or.

Part of me says just go for Cleric and turn down groups that need a healer.
Part of me says that it would be better to go Chanter as they are not as Expected to heal.

Which Class Specializes more on staff weapon...?

Hello I wanted to give a priest a try and i enjoy how awesome the staff look like in the game. Which one out of chanter or priest get more use out of the staff? And which one can use it level 1-50 more?

I still don't know whats the difference between chanter and priest besides one has more buff and other more heals. Anyone fill in quick info is appreciated.

I just started playing Aion, first time ever playing a game of this type. Hubby and friends all play so I thought I would try. I am on lev8 and know I have a choice soon to make. How to decide?

Also, is there somewhere that states all the skills that are for each class or should I just look them up on here? I looked all over to find out about the Chain Equip skill and then the Spellbook equip skill and I just now found on here that the spellbook one is for mage?

Sorry I am so lost but I really like this game so far and don't want to ask the hubby, embarrassing.

Able to spike?

Hey everyone.

After being appointed the dedicated healer of our group I'm kind of curious about priests' ability to spike. Now, don't get me wrong, I'll still be a healer first, and spiker-wannabe second.
The main idea of our group is to have decent CC (Spiritmaster/Ranger) while maintaining high dps (Gladiator/Assassin). As soon as an enemy drops to a certain amount of hp we'll all make the switch and make him our focus. Pretty standard PvP stuff basically.
Now I'd like to know who'd fit the role of "healer with a little bit of spiking on the side" best? Cleric of Chanter?

Can a healing specced Chanter actually rival a Cleric as far as healing goes? If not, can a burst-specced Cleric rival a Chanter as far as burst goes?

Greetings Everyone,

This is my 1st post; I’m reading this forum for a while and finally decided to become an active member :)
Basically there are 29398 similar topics, yet mine is quite different as a question is not "OR" but "AND"

Thing is, I love to play a solid healer who can outlast things - clerics in Aion.
But my Wife love to play support hybrids i.e. Chanters in Aion...

Logically would be for us to roll a Damage Dealer + Heal (ranged/Cleric or melee/Chanter) but... we love to do it hard way sometimes ;)

-Will be that slow? Definitely, but how slow (leveling)
-What Chanter gives to Cleric? (Really useful buffs)
-What Cleric gives to Chanter?
-Melee + Ranged, if ranged draws "agro" for meleer would be pain to chaise monster all the time?
-PVP, how we could defend/Backup each other? (I mean we kind of lack on CC and hard to control range once again mele+ranged dps combo when for example Sin[enemy] chasing cleric and cleric kites him - chanter [friendly] forced to chaise Sin and as result unable to dish a good presure on him [enemy Sin])

We looking for a solid duo setup for questing/instansing/PVPing/farming (goods)/Exping where 3rd person is welcome but not necessary.

Really appreciate ANY feedback and input

So can only use 1 HoT at a time on either type of healer? It's on a cd and fairly week, but really only 1 per person. I know I'm only 17, but does it get any better?

Longevity concerns

So looking at the official server stats for my server (castor) 12% of the population is clerics and 10% is apparently chanters.

Does anyone else have this feeling of dread that a lot of people may reroll to chanter because "Its awsum and can solo becuz healz and buffs11!!1" or do you think the number of people playing healing classes overall will dwindle because of the expected pigeonholing at endgame?

I also have fears that there may be an abundance of clerics because people want a group space so they go cleric to get in a group, only to nyerk hard at fulfilling their role.

Anyone else feel like this, or am I completely wrong?

Well i have moved from GW to Aion in hopes of a new great MMO experience and as a GW player my fav role was Monk so i decided to make a priest here. Now i have been streaming alot of videos and guides on the net about Clerics and Chanters. Now im currently lvl 9 and aint exactly sure as to what i should choose. My legion keeps telling me to go Cleric since then i can heal them and such. Now i wouldnt mind being the senter of attention but i fear that if i do choose to be a cleric i will miss alot of PvP and bosses mainly because i will be the one healing the rest of the party. I want to be able to do PvP, PvE and bosses aswell as healing my friends.

I have people in my legion saying that Clerics are the support class and other say its the chanter, same with PvP, people say that Clerics are pretty good in PvP and vice versa with Chanters so to be honest i dont have a clue as to what is right and what is wrong when it comes to be a chanter/cleric. To get a greater understanding of the two roles i looked up some videos on Youtube and saw that Clerics out heal most of the dmg done to them and that their dmg is pretty good too compared to other games. Chanter to has a serious good heal and their dmg is also pretty nice, though its melee and not ranged.

After talking to some of my friends and asking back and forth they can tell me that Clerics only get 3 offensive skills and rest is heals while the chanter get like 5 or 6 offensive skills and alot of buffs so here again im unsure as i dont want to only be using 3 skills for the remaining of the game.

Reading alot of threads on the forums here i have to say that playing as a only backline/support role in lenght will get pretty boring if my only job is to stand and heal/buff my party for several hours without being able to pack a few punches of my own. My boyfriend plays as a chanter and says that a clerics main job is to heal and that he quit his cleric at around lvl 20 since all he could do was heal and not do any decent dmg and so rolling a chanter instead which he enjoys because of more attack skills and more concistant dmg.

If anyone could give a players oppinion about these two and elaborate more about their place ingame and what they are capable of it would be greatly appriciated.

1.)Do chanters get magic attacks like cleric or is it mostly melee abilities with the staff?

2.) How many mantras can you have going at once? There are also a bunch of other buffs I see later, how do I know if they stack or not?

3.) Do mantras effect alliance groups (24 man) or only your own group?

4.) Do my AoE heals effect alliance or only people in my group around me?

5.) How is mana efficiency while grinding 1-30+? Can I just melee a mob down, heal, then pull another with no downtime?

6.) What do clerics get besides more healing that chantras dont get?

Help me answer a few question.

Now i know some of these have been asked before and will be asked again, but its easier for me to make a new thread than spend forever searching for the different questions so you will have to forgive me in advance.

So here we go

1. I know priests are great at 1v1 and solo levelling, but how are they in groups? and is it viable to have a offence based priest in a group or is that just a 'pipe' dream.

2. Now if they can be DD i dont expect them to match a sin/glad or sorc/rang in damage but how is the damage? would i be a threat or just an annoyance?

3. The heals (at the lower levels) seem slow and fairly easy to interrupt, do priests get and sort of intsa cast heals? or a HoT that is useful? i ask because yesterday whilst fighting a asmo cleric who had rifted he could handle me okish but as soon as another elyos appeared he went down faster than a cheap hooker.

4.(if we cant do decent damage) Most of the priests i have seen tend to stick to the back lines when in a group, i've only met one that came to the front lines and aided in the killing, occasionally stopping to heal, is this the norm? would i have to stick to the backlines and not bother to even cast the occasional damage spell and waste my mana?

5. After reading above would you recommend i play a priest? if so which class and if it matters which race?

Which Priest for a Gladiator in a Duo?

Hi, I am playing a gladiator and my wife wants to play a class that can do ranged DPS and heal. She likes to buff as well....she likes the power over me with the buffs and heals....

So, out of the two options for priests, which would complement a Gladiator most in doing our PvE quests and grinds.
