So in my crafting adventures, I've idly noticed that some materials which SEEM like they should be in available in the world are not. For example....

Does anyone else wonder why Daraia in Pandaemonium is the only one in all the land that can extract Salix Oil from a Salix Log? Or why you can't kill a Qooqoo and get a qooqoo egg? Or why no one can make Wrud Logs into Wrud Paper? :D

Seems to me like there could be a good opportunity here for the professions to support each other a little. It would be fun if Handicrafters could make paper out of the corresponding logs, or Alchemists could transform Kirka into Kirka Wine (you know, cuz they have the bottles lol). Sure, the NPCs could still sell the mats, but there could be benefits to working with another profession, or more of an incentive to have two yourself.

Surely I can't be the only one who has ever made scrolls and wondered why I am shelling out for the paper when the logs are right out there in the forest... :)

This was a suggestion I posted on the official forums, but people don't seem to go there, so I was looking for feedback to hopefully make it better...

This was a suggestion I posted on the official forums, but people don't seem to go there, so I was looking for feedback to hopefully make it better and thus more likely to be implemented. It applies mostly to Weaponsmithing/armor/tailoring, but handicrafting/alchemy is included sorta in it. It's directly copied from the other site:

************************************************** **********************************
know, personally, as a Chanter, that the crafted Mail sets (past a certain point) seem to focus on stats that I really don't find useful (IE. Magic Boost), and finding dropped gear that I would prefer is rather obnoxious. Though for a Cleric these crafted sets are very nice. I know that other chanters have debated this, and although I don't know about other Class sets (IE warrior/Scout/Mage) I figure I settled on a way to make crafting a little more personal and maybe make the crafted items more looked for on the Broker.

Currently we have a socketing system where you can add the stats you like. (IE if I was p.crit I can socket it into the slots for it). But that still leaves me with a chain set of pants that give me M.boost that I can never use.

Personally, what I think would be nice was if for certain patterns/designs it allowed for a manastone to be used within the recipe and when the crafting completes you get that stat on the gear instead of the flat -M.boost every time you craft it-. Or perhaps not Manastones, as they already have a use, but mobs could drop/alchemy could perhaps craft a particular kind of material stone that would do the same thing.

If alchemy could create it perhaps it could use some of the same mats that handicrafters have to use to get certain kinds of stats on a necklace.

For example: If someone wants to make some mail that has MP and Magic Boost on it, they could get a stone from an alchemist that was made with Aquamarine. (I know that the aquamarine necklace is the caster one), or if they want P.crit and HP they could get a stone that was made from Topaz.

Another example: Handicrafters could provide these gems as well, one could just used the refined gems they create to attempt to make necklaces/rings/earrings. I know that plenty of times on my handicrafter I gather more gems than I need figuring (praying) that I'd get more procs of those necklaces/rings/earrings into Noble.

I think it would fix some of the ressentment of some sub-classes that crafted gear isn't aimed for their subclass/make crafting a little more viable.

Also, the gemstone wouldn't be REQUIRED to make the item either; either they could have default stats when no gem is introduced and/or they could be randomized like some of the random drop gear. (Mind you not all recipes would be customizable like this, the named green patterns {IE Manduri Gloves for Tailoring} would not be, but perhaps just the standard "Adamantium Breastplate" {white that procs into green} like patterns)

Just a thought. ^_^

************************************************** **************************************************

So what do you guys think?

I was wondering how profitable extract vitality by itself can be, ie: gathering Iron ore or admantium and selling it on the AH, vs grinding mobs for money or leveling a crafting skill

Also, does it count as one of the 2 skills that you can raise to 450 or can you raise it to 450, and still have room for 2 skills left over?

I am worried this may be the death of crafting below 399 for many professions. My reason for this line of thinking are as follows. Increased kinah rewards, well all this does is making it where people could buy our stuff at the pre-patch prices. But as a result of the inflation other things such as flux's may go up in price alot. Which then in turn make our post-patch prices go up to make up the losses. Next is the change in drop rates on dungeon instances. If they are getting blue weapons/armor like they are skittles from bosses then why in the world would they need us crafters? Next is the issue of increased leveling speed. Because of all the nyerking and whining about the non-existant grind in Aion (people too lazy to explore the maps and find npcs for quests) has lead to them increasing the xp. If they level faster thats less critter drops per level and the person will not be in their gear as long before needing to upgrade again. Again why spend the kinah on crafted gear when stuff drops like skittles?
Does anyone think this is going to get alot worse for us below 399?

"...Once you start on an Expert quest you are locked into that skill until you finish through 449. Once there you can go back and the Cooking Expert Quest should be available for you..."

I don't think this should be the case...you should be able to drop the quest and choose another, do both, etc...

I have always enjoyed crafting in games. It is a break from the leveling process and I have on the whole been enjoying crafting in Aion.

I have always enjoyed crafting in games. It is a break from the leveling process and I have on the whole been enjoying crafting in Aion.

I like that it can provide an addition source of XP and is a source of quality gear and potential income in a very money driven game.

I think a couple of tweaks are needed to improve the system though - something that would help in several games and not just this one.

1. Batches of base mats.

I think it would be great that at a certain skill level you have the option of making bigger batches of base mats. An example would be Titanium Ingots. This goes white at skill 140ish and is a huge time sink to create. Crafting should not be about who has the most time to go afk or transformation candies to skip the animation.

To combat this at skill 150 or so it would be nice to be able to create batches of 10 Ingots - after all you are more skill in crafting them item and therefore it should speed up - and not just by 1-2 second per items as it is now. I am not asking for a reduction in the mats required to craft only the option to make them in bigger amounts in one go to save some time on the larger crafts. After all some individual bits of armor require over 100 Ingots. Making over 5 can take well over an hour.

2. Queuing up items.

With some items requiring up to 5-6 items to make the finished product it would be nice to queue up maybe 5 different items provided you have the materials. This is a function currently provide in World of Warcraft through the use of an addon called Advanced Tradeskill Window if you are not clear on the idea (link: Advanced Trade Skill Window - Addons - Curse) I am not very interested in the other functions.

Thanks for reading. It would be good to hear other peoples suggestions for improving crafting.

Crafting and Probability - Let NOT talk about vendor prices for a change

Given greater time constraints than usual, I will attempt to present my ideas in as abbreviated a fashion as possible (unlike my last attempt...

Given greater time constraints than usual, I will attempt to present my ideas in as abbreviated a fashion as possible (unlike my last attempt) Take them for what they are – simply my ideas.

(And yes I know theres a type-o in the title)

I am not going to get into many of the issues people complain about, like vendor material prices for example. However, the focus of this post will be on the issues of random number generation, and the probabilities or proc’ing combo items when crafting in Aion.

So here’s the rundown:

1) It has been demonstrated by some of the best and brightest in the field of computer science, and has been referenced by many-a-poster on these forms – there is no, literally, NO SUCH THING, as a computer-driven, purely random number generator. Ok. Point taken. However, it is also quite unreasonable to assume that the difference between pure randomness, and that achieved by the RNG in Aion, is great enough to significantly and adversely affect game play for any given individual user. The sample size is just too large to calculate – the RNG is used in essentially every element of the game, and overall we should expect that the developers were smart enough as to program the system so that it is drawn to the mean of the RNG’s range. That much is just common sense.

2) I wish that basic statistics was a requirement at the very least for all college students, and at best for all high school students. The utter lack of understanding that most people have displayed regarding randomness and normality is just appalling. So many times I have read about how people have tried crafted x item y number of times, but haven’t proc’d once, while their neighbor has got all the “luck,” and proc’d five out of his last 6 attempts. Let me try to address some of these issues in brevity.

a- First, when taken in absolution, upon initiating each individual crafting attempting, the player is faced with the same exact probability of achieving a proc every single time. When you start making an item, all previous outcomes must be entirely forgotten, because they will not factor into the outcome. If you did not proc 50 times in a row, upon initiating the 51st attempt, you are still facing the same odds of proc’ing as you did on the first attempt. End of story.

b- Now, these individual odds should not be confused with the probability of observing any given combination of outcomes over n craft attempts. In other words, the probability of proc’ing on any individual attempt remains constant – however, this constant probability is entirely different from the probability of experiencing certain sequential phenomena. For example, the probability of getting a proc on any given attempt may be 10%. However, the probability of getting two proc’s in a row is 1%, given the 10% chance on each attempt. The follows from the basic fact that the probability of witnessing two sequential outcomes is equal to the probability of each individual outcome multiplied by one another (ie. 10% * 10% = 1%). Better put, its p(x)^n, where p = .1 and n = number of sequential matching outcomes.
c- Now we can reverse these outcomes to get a better understanding. Some people are shocked that they can attempt to craft a given item, and after 10 tries they still have no blue. They are sure to then cry out, 10% probability means that I must get AT LEAST one blue per ten attempts! If not, the system must be broken! Well, these individuals are far from correct. Rather, even given the 10% chance on each individual attempt, the probability of witnessing 10 successful crafts without a single proc is just under 35%. Shocking right? Guess what, it gets worse. The probability of witnessing 20 successful sequential craft attempts without achieving a single proc is 12.2% - STILL greater than the probability of achieving a single proc on any given attempt, held in isolation. Does this mean that you need to craft 20 to get 1 blue? No. Does this mean that the system is not random? No. Rather, this demonstrates that even in the world of perfect normality, odd things can still happen (damn that’s a sexy pun).

Just for the fun of it, I put together a small table analyzing the probabilities and cost basis for crafting a low level item (Titanium Hauberk). Costs are estimates, and the analysis completely omits returns on investment and rate of return, etc. However, it does estimate expected value costs (probability weighted averages), and the input cost return ratio (Not true returns or value costs, as I mentioned this omits the revenue from sale of goods crafted.) It can be used to understand how much value you get for any given dollar spent on materials. For simplicity sake, you can interpret expected return to cost ratio as the material kahn value of each kahn spent on inputs to crafting, with proc’ing as the bottom line (yes I know its not realistic). In other words, it assumes that if you proc on the first crafting attempt, you get 1 kahn back for every 1 kahn spent on materials – (you got 100% value back on the cost of inputs. If revenue was included from selling the product, the value would be much higher. 1 = breaking even. Anything less represents a net loss in material input value).

So much for being short. I leave the rest up for user interpretation.

As i turned expert in cooking two days ago, i started looking for 400+ receipes. I noticed a long time ago that balic dishes seem to be the cheapest receipes in order to level up from 400 to 420 given that balic meat is incredibly cheap on my server.

In order to level from 400 to 420, i would need balic receipes used to craft "True Dragon" balic items (be them food, armor or weapons). I bought a large collection of balaur hearts, went to Tigraki island in upper abyss and turned my balaur hearts in to the cooking master in order to obtain green balic receipes.

However, i have now performed 27 turn ins i only got "White Dragon" green receipes. I never saw any "True Dragon" receipe although their are a total of 9 green receipes per level and i got many copies of some "White Dragon" receipes.

Could someone tell me whether i am just unlucky and should bring more balaur heart shipments in order to hopefully get a "True Dragon" balic receipe one day, or i am doing something wrong and the place to get "True Dragon" receipes is somewhere else, not from the Tigraki island shugos ? By the way, i am elysean.

Thanks in advance

Why is this thing a piece of ****? It is pointless to have especially for armorsmithing as sarantus' helm is better (triumphant helm is like a nerus' lvl 25 helm or a black cloud useless event item mixed) and a bloody easy quest item. I'm rather annoyed at mastering a craft being allowed at lvl 30 and giving a pointless level 30 helm.

Also why are all the helms the same. That alone speaks volumes of slacking and carelessness from devs who havent played the game to master a craft and spent millions that they gained over days of play time.

I do this epic quest which takes many tries at a couple million a try just for the nyerking fluxes and i get an orange helm which is worth less than i can vendor a failed crafting attempt for. WHAT THE nyerk. THAT IS STUPID AS ****.

On another note... IT DOESNT EVEN GLOW OR ANYTHING. looks like a random crown that looks very much like nothing until you zoom in on it. Basically its not worth wearing in my case as an armorsmith.

1. Why are the vendor bought materials way more valuable than what we can gather out there?
2. Why aren't the jobs balanced? Yes, both have roughly the same loss of Kinah per white item, but why does WS make ~100K profit and the handicrafter ~10K loss when I (falsely) assume all gathered materials are worth 0 (as in fact do many because they farm them instead of buying them)
This is not meant to be a QQ thread, I just want you to help me see the logic in that... any thoughts?

I heard from another player that you can transfer your DP to another Deava if you do it before you log off. Is this true? If it is then that is amazing, since most of the DP moves are kind of meh I usually just end up using the DP to just morph stuff instead of using it in combat. I was thinking of transfering the dp to a friend and then having them to transfer it back to my alt provided this really works. If its true does anyone know how to do this?

Usually it takes 1 raw material + vendor bought mat to make something

1strong leather + 1 hardened leather thing = 1 cord

Now after 100 lvls about the normal design you should be able to do this

10 strong leather + 10 hardened leather thing = 10 cord

It would cut down the time needed to craft those misc items that generally take up most of your time crafting.

Hey all,

I am Elyos, but same applies to Asmo... I would like to put together a data compilation for these crafting quests:

Basically, when you are crafting work orders, there's a chance to receive a special item that starts a simple quest. All you have to do is right click/double click the item to start the quest. It involves a simple turn-in at your respective fortresses in the abyss. The important part of this quest is the AP reward... 700 Abyss Points! and its x255 repeatable!

The reason I am making this post is to see if there are certain level work orders that provide more frequency for this rare item reward. There is hardly any information on Armory about these quests. I am trying to see if there is:

1) Only certain level workorders that can achieve this item reward (so we know whether it is good or bad to level through crafting very quickly)
2) If any level work order can get it, if there is a better chance doing certain level work orders.

Here are the quests, there's 1 quest for each crafting profession:

Quests - Aion

Please reply with:
1) What faction
2) What quest/profession
3) What level work order

I will update this top thread with all the data as much as possible

I'll start with

Elyos - Tailoring - Work Order 250

-------------------------

Bump it...

No takers? 700 AP is nice...

And if I look at armory, I guess 255x repeatable = infinite repeats.

1. When you extract Aether, there’s a chance that Aether Poison Gas will infiltrate your body. The poison blocks gathering for a certain period of time unless you detoxify the poison.
- Once you are poisoned the only way to detoxify yourself is to utter the "Cleansing Word.”
- To utter the Cleansing Word, type the randomly given letters and numbers within the designated time
- When you utter the Word, you get three chances to enter the correct letter/number sequence. If you fail three times, Vitality Extracting and Aether Extracting are prohibited.
- The “/ExtractStatus” command provides your extraction status.
- When you have Aether Poison Gas in your body, you can still move and activate other abilities, so move to a safe place before you utter the Cleansing Word.

What is the justification for this change?

Is Aether extraction not difficult enough already?

Is this change supposed to stop botters?

Do the devs understand that when we extract aether in the abyss and other areas, we are already being attacked?

Now we are supposed to enter a code to unlock our aether and vitality extraction while we are flying and very likley being attacked in a contested area?

What does "Vitality and Aether Extraction are Prohibited" mean? In which zone? For how long?

Is this going to be extended to vitality extraction?

Of all of the things that need to be fixed in Aion NCsoft, where and why did you come up with this one?:dazed:

***this is a repost from the bug report section of na.aiononline.com forums, just trying to spread the word and get some feedback on this issue.***

so since tuesday i believe, i've had a problem where some fluxes won't stack with previous fluxes of the same type.

you know, if it was simply a case of them not stacking, that would be one thing, but they are either completely mislabeled or bugged because even though they have the exact same name, description, etc, they will not count as the type of fluxes i am looking for. so it is impossible to tell what type of flux you are actually looking at on the broker before you buy it. the following two pictures are related:

as you can see it is not simply a case of the stack being split, because on my crafting window, only 3 of the 4 total fluxes i have count as the type of fluxes the recipe needs. i cannot imagine i am the only one having this problem, but i couldn't find a thread about this anywhere on aionsource or on the known issue forums on this website. any feedback would be helpful, wether it is a similar story or some kind of fix or even knowing what type of fluxes the mislabeled ones actually count for.
