Now, unfortunately, it's a whole chain of quests, starting with <b>Disturbing Reports</b> and ending up doing some chained <b>Spy/Group</b> quests in Asmodae, together with an instance there. I was lucky enough to be part of a group that actually did all the quests in one go, stuck together and got the job done. Be prepared to spend <b>6 hours</b> on that... Here's why..<br />
<br />
<b><a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/quest.aspx?id=1615" target="_blank">[Spy/Group] A Suspicious Box</a></b><br />
While not the beginning quest in this chain, this is the first of the spy quests that requires you to go to Asmodae. The Rift is right in front of the Lepharist Poison Research Center in Heiron, so you need to wait for that rift to be up, and get your group together. Be aware that you end up in a region with all Elite Lepharists around you, so be very careful.<br />
After talking to Lethe (she does show up on your map, so no problem finding her, it's not far from the rift), she will assign you the next task...<br />
<br />
<b><a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/quest.aspx?id=1616" target="_blank">[Spy/Group] Suspicious Scientists</a></b><br />
This quest can get annoying. You have to collect 5 Entry Permits, which only drop from the Scholars. Although the item is a group-drop, meaning everyone can loot the Scholar to get an item (much like the Krall Marks), not every Scholar actually drops one.<br />
Look around, there are several Scholars, even though the highest concentration is moving towards their stronghold, which will later also house the instance. Once your team got the 5 permits each, head back to Lethe again.<br />
<br />
<b><a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/quest.aspx?id=1617" target="_blank">[Spy/Group] The Key is the Key</a></b><br />
Here you have to kill a Boss, who can spawn at 6 random locations - however always on a bridge (as far as we could tell). Just loop around, he respawns rather quickly. Kill him and get the Key, then return to Lethe.<br />
<br />
<i>Of course i assume you haven't been ganked by Asmodians, since you're still in their territory, remember ? Keep an open eye on your threat-scan 360 at all times !</i><br />
<br />
<b><a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/quest.aspx?id=1618" target="_blank">[Spy/Group] The Research Journal</a></b><br />
This is the actual instance, and it's a tough one. Head to fortress and go through the big huge door (since you acquired the key recently) and you're on. Good news is, no more ganking possible, as you're in an instance. Bad news, it's gonna be a very tough one...<br />

<br />
You will see a lot of red dots on your compass, and you need to kill a boss for a key to advance into the next room. The boss is located on the left wing of that room, so you need to clear that all out, which would roughly look like this.<br />
Also note that you possibly want to clear out the mobs in the entrance area on the right as well, as it allows you to move around alot easier and makes pulls more secure<br />
<br />
Don't ever think you can skip something or take a shortcut. Play this one slow and safe, unless you want to group-wipe. I'm not joking here !<br />
<br />

After you've cleaned up the room, you are faced with a tough pull. The door is guarded by 4 mobs (assuming you've killed the once behind the pillar on the right of the door), and they are linked. Yes. Pull one and you got all 4 on you, which will be a wipe. So, instead, have someone like a Ranger leash them all away into the clear area on the left, and your Templar can pull one of the leashed mobs towards you, so you will fight only 1-2 of them, which your CC can easily handle. The ranger will continue to snare and kite his mobs until they either reset, he is dead, or the main team has finished off their kills and is ready to pull the next one.<br />
<br />
<i>Don't forget to bring Resurrection Stones for yourself and your team mates, you will most likely die in this instance...</i><br />
<br />

Now that the door is clean, you enter a hallway with a patrol - but stop, that's not it. Don't push in yet, because that's the next guaranteed wipe. There are hidden patrols in there, so you need a Ranger or Assassin or anyone with the Seed of Detection to spot them and pull them out.<br />
<br />
After you've successfully cleared that little hallway, you come up some ramp with mobs left and right. Only kill the mobs you really need, since you need to advance ahead. The Research Journal is in the first big room on the right, so at this crossing, ignore the mobs left and right that don't aggro you. Again, don't get nyerky, pull them carefully and always pull them back into the cleared area, never fight them on their territory, their terms. Leash-Pull for the win.<br />

To give you an impression on how tightly the mobs are packed, here's the compass shot from the same location. So be careful. Advance ahead a little bit and clear the hallway, so you have enough space to leash-pull into the hallway, allow time and space for your CC to do an awesome job, and have more easy kills.<br />
<br />
This whole instance is, however, incredibly annoying and quite hard, depending on your own level. You will be fighting 45 Elite's all the way along, so be prepared for a tough beating. The quest reward ultimately makes it worthwhile, but it's still a pain to get through, unless you have a dedicated and good group.<br />

After carefully fighting your way into that room, you can see the bookshelves with the Research Journal sticking out.<br />

Oh Joy !<br />

Just don't mess up now, carry on carefully making your way through the room and get the journal, after which you can return to Sanctum. Either bound, Scroll or have the Sorcerer create a gate for you.<br />
<br />
Rejoice, the hard part of this is over, even though there's still some more to come. The next quest will make you chase around through Sanctum a bit, so i won't go into detail there, it's just another Kinah sink for the teleporter and a waste of time.<br />
<br />
<b><a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/quest.aspx?id=1619" target="_blank">[Group] RM-114c</a></b><br />
Yeah. After <b>Aether Labs</b> you would expect this critter to be a tough one. He is, however only tough to find but very easy to kill. You can find him in Asteria Lake. Leave the fortress and fly down a bit, there are three caves behind the waterfalls. One is a bit more hidden, but believe me, the three caves do exist. Now, each cave can potentially spawn up to 4 of the monsters, and you need 10 kills alltogether.<br />
<br />
Only sad part is that he has a 30-45min respawn time. Depending on the population of said area and how many others did the Spy quest, this can take up to 2 hours, mostly spent with sitting around and waiting. Have your team spread out into the caves and camp his spawn locations. RM-114c himself / itself is a huge disappointment, however the weapons makes good on that. Yay.<br />

Buried deep within the icy plains of Besulan lies a lepharist encampment, a research center experimenting on things that should not be meddled with. Daeves are born not created though, for now at least...<br />

Enterance to the Alquimia Research Center is restricted to those up to the middle of <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/quest.aspx?id=2058" target="_blank">A Spy Among the Lepharists</a> (The quest will mention a power generator at this point, if you have that it means you're far enough in) Naturally those that have cleared the quest may also still enter. <br />
<br />
(<b>Note</b>: <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/quest.aspx?id=2053" target="_blank">A Missing Father</a> must be completed before you are able to take <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/quest.aspx?id=2058" target="_blank">A Spy Among the Lepharists</a>. A level 40 requirement is also in-place.)<br />

Surrounded by a swarm of elites the Alquimia Research Center is no place to approach if you're unprepared, roving ranger patrols and invisible mobs set the scene for a rather painful trap. Mortal blow x 3 = XP bar moving the wrong way. Go figure.<br />
<br />
<div align="center">[ENTRANCE PLACEHOLDER] </div><br />
Once you have entered the research center you'll be confronted with a rather crowded initial chamber. With several patrols making their way around the small room it's far too easy to chain-agro so here's hoping you have a semi-competent party! Templars are a big bonus in this instance too with Inescapable Judgment being an invaluable asset for avoiding super agro. <br />

Once you've taken out any patrols within your range, be sure to check the radar for agro bubbles before you pull to avoid getting ZOMGZERGED, hang a left until you get to the first keykeeper. You will need to clear the mobs on the right-hand side of this tunnel before going to the boss. Hugging the aquarium tank, which is strangely lacking in fish... don't want to know, should allow you to avoid any agro from the left. <br />
<br />

Have your tank pull the mob into the corner and blast him into dust. He will drop the first key allowing you to open that scary door I showed above. Researcher Zoiks should drop pretty fast, assuming you don't have a trigger-happy Spiritmaster things should go smoothly. <br />
<br />
After clearing through the main door with your newly found key proceed down the hallway. Be sure to have your Sorc or Ranger/Assassin pop their see-invis skills first as there are two hidden mobs in this hallway to catch the weary stranger. If you're super careless this hallway can easily become a four-pull courtesy of a wandering patrol. <br />

You will now be confronted with three possible routes, the left path leads to four monsters while the right leads to about eight. Be sure to check both as rare spawns, names needed since they refused to spawn when I was writing this guide &gt;.&gt;, can appear instead of regular mobs. Once you're done with this section carry on down the middle path until confronted with yet another forked path. You'll want to hang a right here and then another in the room itself, needless to say wiping the floor with any mobs that get in your way. <br />

After defeating that ever so charming lass and claiming her key it's time to head back to that fork in the road and take the other path. This chamber is ever so fondly referred to as the Daevic Genesis Lab<br />

Now this chamber can and often will hold a few pleasant little surprises for adventurers. Not only do several quest chains tie into this but your primary campaign, <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/quest.aspx?id=2058" target="_blank">A Spy Among the Lepharists</a>, has quite an important pitstop here. To your left you will spot the Research Center Power Generator.<br />

As with most game objects you'll need to burst this done with your beastly 1DPS, assassins are quite handy here although it goes down fast enough regardless. Your campaign will now instruct you to set off the flare, that can be left until you're finished. Now if you're super lucky you may find a rather dashing prisoner in the corner test tube, that being the ever-so-perplexing RA-121ex Characterized by his flaming chest he has quite a high probability to drop one of the infamous level 42 skillbooks along with level 44 green weapons.<br />
<br />
Once you've cleared this room you'll notice a pretty impressive wall, behold it's not a wall or a plane, it's a door!<br />
<br />

Progressing up this ever so spooky path you will find yourself in the core of the instance, the Lepharist Sanctuary. <br />

Your group has two options now, you can either charge forward banners held high into battle taking down the lepharists in packs of 2-4 or you can put Assassins to shame and sneak around the side. For your first run I'd probably advise the middle path, nothing more frustrating than a Spiritmaster's pet fuubaring your ninja efforts and pulling fifteen mobs!<br />
<br />
Once you've finally made it to the end of this ever so well-furnished chamber it's time to take on High Priest Esras, unfortunately not of hero ranking it's a pretty light tank/spank kill but hey who are we to complain about an easy ride?<br />

Activating your quest flare outside will trigger a cutscene almost bringing your campaign to a close. <br />

Congratulations, you've completed The Alquimia Research Center! Don't get used to such a relaxed instance though, they get a lot harder after this :D<br />

The Sky Temple of Arkanis, nestled deep within the volcanoes of Morheim, is the gateway to the ever-so-loved instance known as <a href="http://www.aionsource.com/forum/general-guides/88458-instance-guide-fire-temple.html" target="_blank">Fire Temple</a>. Unfortunately for you that's a little bit away still with a three-part instance blocking your path.<br />
<br />

The Sky Temple of Arkanis is featured within the campaign <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/quest.aspx?id=2035" target="_blank">[Group]The Three Keys</a>, said campaign quest is required for entry into the temple. After speaking with Amund you will be sent to Bulagan, servant to the Daeva of Flame known as Agnita.<br />

Pleading you to save his mistress he will pass on the first key for this instance known as the Water Key, it will allow for entry into the water chamber. Flying to the water door will result in you meeting the Water Room Keeper, a non-elite 2star mob should be no issue for your party to overcome. <br />

You will find yourself in a small chamber with some roving non-elite spirits. Simply blast your way to the other side of the chamber and defeat the guardian, it should be a fairly easy kill without too much contention unless your group pulls additional monsters during the fight.<br />

Be sure that all your party members loot the corpse and then proceed through the back portal. Once you've done that gather your group together and fly to the next gate known as the Gate of Wind. After defeating the two gate-guardians proceed into the Wind chamber.<br />

You will need to make a beeline to the opposite side of this chamber, killing anything that gets in your way (elite this time, careful!) of course. Once you get to the edge look down and behold another area o.o<br />

Carefully have your party make their way down, avoiding agro would be preferable, and begin the painful task of clearing out mobs. You will need to hunt down the next guardian who, unfortunately, spawns in different locations every time. Thankfully he's the only monster down here with an earth spirit model so spotting him wont be too hard. Tip: Tab + Minimap = profit. <br />

Once you've slain that charming chap find the portal in the wall (back of the area) and teleport back out. You will now need to make your way to the Fire Door. Guarded by a single drake be sure to go with your group and burst him down prior to entering.<br />
<br />
Hang a right and kill the mobs that stand in your way, once you've gotten far enough it should be safe to jump down. You can either skirt around the edges or change through the middle depending on what your party decides. The view should be pretty similar to this prior to jumping down...<br />
<br />

Once you've made your way to the other side of this platform you will, surprise surprise, have to jump down yet another layer. Make your way up the stairs and behold the final guardian. <br />

Fire Temple is an important instance for level 30+ due to how often you can run it (there is only a 30 minute lockout from the time you enter, so by the time you finish, you can enter again) and it is also (unless you get a lucky world drop) your first shot at a gold quality weapon.<br />

Fire Temple is a pretty cut and dry instance. There are many different pathways to take while within the temple, but if you're only doing <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/npc.aspx?id=214621" target="_blank">Kromede</a> runs, you can follow the map above without running into dead ends.<br />

Once inside, you will face 3 fire spirits in front of you. One to your left, one to your right and a patrol that comes up the middle. You can pull all of these individually if you wait for the patrol to pass.<br />
<br />
The only thing excessively difficult about the fire spirits in this room is how many there are. With precision running, a group can navigate directly through the middle of the room without having to kill more than one or two of the spirits, but if you're looking to go the safer route, you can hug and follow the right wall all the way around the room. You will have a couple 3 pull mobs throughout the instance, but for the most part if you pay attention to your patrols, you can get away with 2. With a little bit of CC, you shouldn't have much of an issue.<br />

Once you've passed the fire spirit room, you will come to a steep hill.  Be aware that this is the closest area that <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/npc.aspx?id=212844" target="_blank">Silver Blade Rotan</a> will spawn and patrol, so keep that in mind while pulling mobs to fight.<br />

Once at the base of the hill, you find yourself facing your first fork in the road.  If you wish to check for <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/npc.aspx?id=212839" target="_blank">Blue Crystal Molgat</a> and <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/npc.aspx?id=212840" target="_blank">Lava Gatneri</a>, continue forward and check the two rooms before you.  <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/npc.aspx?id=212840" target="_blank">Lava Gatneri</a> has a chance to drop gold rarity <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/item.aspx?id=100900509" target="_blank">2h Sword</a> and <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/item.aspx?id=101300501" target="_blank">Polearm</a>, so this boss is a must if you're looking for gear on these runs.  To get to <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/npc.aspx?id=214621" target="_blank">Kromede</a>, take the left path past the lava pit. Take care not to fall INTO the lava pit as there is no way out- you will have to use return and run back while your party waits.<br />

Once around the lava pit, you will come to a hill that goes upwards. This is where you really have to begin to take caution with your pulls. At the top of the hill, you begin to have groups of two gargoyles sitting along the walls and patrolling. They are also quite fast as they are flying mobs, so if you and your group need to flee, I suggest using the hill you just came up to glide down and gain some distance from them.<br />

This is also the most common spawn point of <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/npc.aspx?id=212844" target="_blank">Silver Blade Rotan</a> and the only spawn point of <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/npc.aspx?id=212843" target="_blank">Tough Sipus</a>. This room has a few different patrols and mobs that are hidden away behind corners and rocks, so be careful when navigating and pulling.<br />

They're a little bit out of the way, but give you more chances for armor drops and Flavi can drop a <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/item.aspx?id=100600565" target="_blank">gold rarity Spellbook</a>.<br />

</div> Your best bet to avoid unmanageable fights is to choose the left or right pathways instead of fighting straight down the middle of her room. You are able to easily pull <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/npc.aspx?id=214621" target="_blank">Kromede</a> off to the side without the risk of aggroing anything else in the room, so use that space to your advantage.<br />

<a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/npc.aspx?id=214621" target="_blank">Kromede</a> is scary fast and uses a bow as her main weapon. Running from her will do nothing for you. Still, you want your ranged and healers to stay back as far as they can. <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/npc.aspx?id=214621" target="_blank"> Kromede</a> does powerful AoE attacks that can take down your squishier players very quickly.  Have your tank stay on <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/npc.aspx?id=214621" target="_blank">Kromede</a> at all times pulling as much hate as possible. Assassins and Gladiators should run away from her when she begins to charge up these AoEs. In addition to her melee AoE attacks, she also drops a set of 3 traps that explode causing AoE damage. Have your gladiator keep an eye out for these and do an AoE of their own to take them out before they can explode. There is only one point of the fight I'd consider very dangerous and that is when <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/npc.aspx?id=214621" target="_blank">Kromede</a> reaches roughly 1/4 health.  She will use her normal AoE and shortly after use a very powerful AoE called <i>Miserable Struggle</i> to follow up. This AoE has one-shotted people in my groups many times, so be aware of these abilities and run from them if you are not tanking. If you are the group's Templar, make sure you use your Aion Armory Spell and Aion Armory Spell about this point in the fight to ensure that you survive the hit.<br />
<br />
That's it!  You've defeated <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/npc.aspx?id=214621" target="_blank">Kromede</a>.  As of the time of this guide, Kromede has a -very low- gold drop rate, so best of luck receiving one of those weapons.</div>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div>So here is a guide for all you Aion fans who would like to try playing Aion with a controller, now any controller works but since I personally use an Xbox 360 controller, that is what I'll be referring to in this guide. Before I start however I need to give Kudos to SilentLine04 from Gamespot.com in interesting me in finding out how the gameplay is on a controller and also to Jonathan the creator of a wonderful program that we will be using for gameplay.<br />
<br />
So first your going to need a controller, like I said any controller works, but in this guide I'll be using an Xbox 360 one, it will have to be a wired controller or the one specifically made for PC (Which I believe is actually more expensive then the wired one). Wireless and wireless plug and play ones WILL NOT WORK. (Only exception is the wireless controller made for pc which comes with a wireless adapter)<br />
<br />
Once your done finding the controller, go online and download a program called Xpadder, you can buy it here <a href="http://xpadder.com/" target="_blank">Xpadder.com</a>   or get a free version via anyway else you plan on getting a free version (I personally bought it, it is only 10.99 Canadian and you get free technical help, access to forums regarding the product and free upgrades). Once it has been downloaded (only about 600-700 kb file) install it onto your computer that you use to play the Aion game.<br />
<br />
Now start the Xpadder Program, it will come up to a gray screen (Figure One), I have included pictures to help those who need it to clarify the links will be at the BOTTOM of the post :D, the next thing you will do is plug in your controller, let it auto install the drivers or install the drivers yourself. Next you will click on the button that says ' Click &quot;New&quot; to create layout or &quot;Open&quot; ', just click on it, its nice and green looking, another screen will pop up that has a pink background (Figure Two).<br />
<br />
This is the part where we define the button layouts, first you will want to click on the &quot;Image&quot; button on the left side (it is the default selection but you never know), on the right hand side there will be a button that says open, this is where you can import an image of an Xbox 360 controller as a background so you can have a picture to work with, I downloaded the .bmp file from <a href="http://sites.google.com/site/xpadderfan/xpadder-big-download/controller-images/Microsoft_Xbox_360.Jonathan.UK.bmp" target="_blank">http://sites.google.com/site/xpadder...onathan.UK.bmp</a> its the actual one made from Jonathan the creator so you know it will fit. Once you upload the file the screen will look like a controller (Figure Three), next we will put in the analog sticks.<br />
<br />
On the right hand side choose &quot;Sticks&quot; , it will come up with a screen that has two parts, each has an enable button and a detect button. Choose the first enable button, it will ask you to push the stick 1 to the left, and then up, a grey circle will show up on the box, next click the other enable button and follow the same steps but this time with the right analog stick, now you will have two grey circles, you can click them with your left mouse button and drag them over each respectable controller part on the background. Where it says Abc you can rename them to left and right or anything else you want. (Figure Four)<br />
<br />
Now click on the &quot;DPad&quot; option on the left hand side, once again the screen will change and there will be one option to choose enable, click it and follow the directions like the analog sticks, you can rename it and drag it to the dpad spot on the background.<br />
<br />
Next check the &quot;Buttons&quot; option to the elft, the screen will come up saying click the button to add the button. so start off with your A button, by clicking it a small box will appear on the screen, rename it A and drag it to the A Button spot on the background, repeat for X, Y, B, Start, Back and the two Bumper (Not trigger) Buttons. Make sure you name them and drag them to their appropriate spots so you dont get them confused later. Once done each spot on the background controller besides the triggers should have either a circle or button on it. Now, if you would like to include the analog stick buttons (when you press them in also known as L3 and R3) you can do so on this page too, just make sure you name them and align them with its appropriate analog circle. So far the middle Xbox &quot;X&quot; button does not register, so no way to add it.<br />
<br />
Next choose the &quot;Triggers&quot; option, click the enable box and it will ask you to press the left trigger and the right trigger, the boxes that come up on the background are pretty much already on the trigger picture. So now you have the buttons of your Xbox360 controller ready to be programmed! (Figure Five).<br />
<br />
At this point you can close the screen you were working on by hitting the OK button at the bottom (make sure you click the button) and go back to the original screen. On the original screen you will see all your buttons, if you left click once on each button a mini keyboard will come up and you can choose what keyboard key you want that box to be know as. Here is a list of what I chose each box to be (Figure Six)<br />

Left Trigger: Left Mouse Click (left mouse click is on the far right of the mini keyboard, has a small picture of a mouse and the number 1)<br />
<br />
Right Trigger: Right Mouse Click (Once again on the far right, has a number 2)<br />
<br />
Left Bumper: Alt button (to allow you to choose your secondary set of spells on your quickbar in game)<br />
<br />
Right Bumper: Ctrl (to allow you to choose you third set of spells on your quick bar in game)<br />
<br />
Back Button: The Number 4 Key<br />
<br />
Start Button: The Number 5 Key<br />
<br />
A Button: Spacebar (or whatever you have as your Jump key, trust me having A as jump makes things alot easier)<br />
<br />
X Button: The Number 1 Key<br />
<br />
Y Button: The Number 2 Key<br />
<br />
B Button: The Number 3 Key<br />
<br />
Up on the Dpad: The Number 6 Key<br />
<br />
Down on the Dpad: The Number 7 Key<br />

The Box for the Left Analog Stick Click (or L3): Tab (or whatever key you have to switch between enemies)<br />

Now for the analog sticks:<br />
<br />
Left Analog Stick: There will be a wrench looking mini pic beside the boxes for the left analog stick, click it once and choose either the W,S,A,D option or the Arrows option (This is to move around as if you were using the buttons ingame)<br />
<br />
Right Analog Stick: Click the wrench looking pic again and choose Mouse - Normal (this is to control the mouse). Now in order to set your sensitivity for your mouse, click on the wrench again and on the bottom choose &quot;Mouse Settings&quot;, from there you can play around with the sensitivity settings till its appropriate to your liking. <br />
<br />
Since most spells/attacks are on your quickbars I decided to use this set up as a default, X, Y, and B as your main three spells/attacks, since start and back are close to it i chose them as attacks/spells four and five on your quickbar, then the dpad for the other four spells/attacks. Also since the right and left bumper are set to alt and ctrl, it allows you to hold one in and repeat X, Y, B Start and Back as your second line of spells/attacks and etc with the third line, since most of my spells (Since I am a proud SM) that I use to PvP and CC are crucial I put them 1-5 for easy access on the first line of the quickbar, the second line of the quickbar, and then left the attacks/spells 6-9 as the other spells I use, like mana treatment, etc.. the NOT so crucial ones.  I saved the Third Quickbar line as my Pet attacks.<br />
<br />
Now you are done! Click the little controller Icon where it says &quot;Click 'Save As' to save layout&quot; or the little Floppy Disk pic to save your profile for that controller. Voila! you can now go into Aion and use a controller to play instead! I understand some people will want to change the buttons around differantly and thats fine, I only included a basic button configuration, feel free to redo anything. Also a side note, this program works with any game as it masks the buttons/sticks as the keyboard itself. To enable the program to work while the game is being played, MINIMIZE it, it will go to the background so it doesnt interfere with gameplay, only EXIT it if you wish not to use your controller again. As of yet I am still playing around with things and haven't decided on how I will put flight in respective to the button layouts, also in game you'll need to get use to the mouse sensitivity, also holding down the right trigger button that has been defined as the right mouse button will actually let you look around or move in the direction just like the real mouse does. There are small things I am working out still but all for all, now I can sit back and play Aion with a controller. Also, yes you will need to use the keyboard to type and other things like that, and I do not believe the chat pad works with it although I have never tried. Feel free to comment on the thread and to include your updated versions or anything else that will help me and other gamers like yourself! :D<br />

Aion is an MMO. Like all MMOs, respecting other players is vital to not only your gaming experience but also how others see you as a person. No one likes playing with the guy with the short temper or the child who'll leave the group if he doesn't get what he wants.<br />
<br />
<font size="3"><u>GROUP ETIQUETTE</u></font><br />
<br />
1: Organization<br />
Everyone has experienced it. They join a group and they never listen to proper orders or have any organization. Tanks especially get tired of this. Organization is sweet and simple: Make sure everyone knows their job. No group needs a mass of Rangers running around like idiots aggroing everything around them, that only makes it harder for the group. There are also more advanced and more effective ways of organization and greatly helps when it comes to knowing what to do and when to do it.<br />
By using /Brand # you can make orders to the group showing what needs to be killed all the way to what needs to be put to sleep.<br />
<br />
2: Loot<br />
Loot, Such a beautiful thing. It comes in many colors: Grey, White, Green, Blue, Gold. But what does loot have to do with Group Etiquette? Simple to answer question: When the group needs to roll to decide who gets the treasure. This is the #1 reason undoubtedly why some groups have infighting, and this is even common within Legions. There are three different Types of loot rollers. <br />
Type 1: The Merchants.<br />
These guys are only in it for the money. Yes, these guys are mean and they'd roll for anything green. You can easily tell who these folks are. They generally have a high level in the group usually 2-4 levels above the entire group. They usually also have very good gear for their level that's above the Quality and/or ability of the loot dropped there. A word of caution these guys like scamming after losing a roll usually saying that they need it for an Alternate character; Which is usually untrue.<br />
<br />
How to deal with Merchants:<br />
Merchants are difficult to to stop. Maybe even impossible. Only real way is to find these guys before it's to late. Recognize the appearances of higher level armor and the tells of a merchant.  <br />
<br />
Type 2: The Gambler<br />
These guys are more annoying than they are bothersome. They only roll for loot to make-up for their large ego when they win a roll. It's bearable to play with these guys because unlike The Merchants, they have the decency to give the Won item to those that actually need it. Gamblers love rolling for every loot that can be rolled for. You can't tell them to stop because if you do they just continue on. <br />
<br />
In the game I'm an avid Gambler in the game. I'm not afraid to admit it. No one is perfect. It's just awesome to roll a 100 against someone who needs it rolls a 98. Pure bliss. (Kinda ironic I'm writing this really...)<br />
<br />
How to deal with Gamblers:<br />
Don't worry these fellows mean no harm. They are usually friendly and hand you the gear if you actually need it. After-all they won it fair and square. Well unless he was just sitting in a corner doing nothing but eat Doritos. <br />
<br />
Type 3: Only What's Needed Rollers<br />
These guys are the prime want in a peaceful group. Yes my friends, these are true role models of any Group. They don't roll because they want to, they roll only if the item belongs in their class group or if they really truly need it. These players are generally polite individuals and always are the peace-keepers in the group.<br />
<br />
How to deal with Only What's Needed Rollers:<br />
Why do you want to deal with these players!? More loot for you I think.<br />
<br />
3: Friends<br />
In a group, It's easy to make friends when a run is doing good. But this can get in the way of actually doing what you need to in the group by distracting you from what is important to the group. Groups of friends are interesting but highly unorganized. It's far more enjoyable to play along with friends but anything that one player takes offense from can lead everything to frustration and irritability. A good Example of this is when one player Playfully uses the N-word. They other player who was his friend so happened to be of African descent. Besides the awkward feeling of knowing your friend is angry at you, you also feel guilty or not guilty at all.<br />
<br />
Always remember when you're playing with Real life Friends and Online friends is to keep real life situations out of the Virtual world. No one needs to know who Jessica made out with in the fifth grade. (Jessica is a figment of my imagination and fantasy. No touchie.)<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div>The Lepharists on Atreia are known for their dastardly deeds and are a common enemy to the Elyos and Asmodians alike but deep within the forests of Heiron, they have built a secret laboratory where they are performing grotesque experiments on people and creatures alike.<br />
<br />
To gain entry to this instance, you must first complete the campaign quest <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/quest.aspx?id=1056" target="_blank">Lepharist Poison Research</a> and also complete the first couple steps of <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/quest.aspx?id=1057" target="_blank">Creating a Monster</a>.<br />
<br />
Once you have brought <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/item.aspx?id=182201616" target="_blank">Lapontos's Journal</a> to <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/npc.aspx?id=204502" target="_blank">Barzon</a> in New Heiron Gate, proceed to the entrance of the <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/location.aspx?id=36" target="_blank">Aetherogenetics Lab</a> located in the Lepharist Research Center.<br />

<div align="left">Guarding the entrance are a gaggle of Lepharists and a level 41 elite named <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/npc.aspx?id=212343" target="_blank">Gatekeeper Kirrin</a>.<br />

<div align="left">Fight your way past Kirrin or simple CC him and use the entrance. Killing Kirrin is not required to enter the instance nor is it part of <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/quest.aspx?id=1057" target="_blank">Creating a Monster</a>.<br />
<br />
Once inside, you will first go down the entrance ramp which leads you to two doors. Open both doors (since they lead to the same room) so you can use both sets of stairs to break line of sight while your Templar gets hate back.<br />
<br />
The first room has 4 elite Lepharists and one Gatekeeper. The two single mobs guarding the left and right doors can easily be pulled and killed individually. The other two patrol in a linear fashion and it is wise to wait for them to move away from the Gatekeeper before beginning the fight. CC or off-tank one while you kill the other then take down the Gatekeeper once he is alone.<br />
<br />
You will notice that the large door before you is locked. You will need a key to pass through to get to the Bio Experiment Lab. For now, take the open door to the left. There are two one-man patrols in this room. The first of these patrols walks right past the open door you just walked through, so wait for it and take it out first. There is another single mob before you go down the stairs. Once those two are down, your next two encounters will be double pulls. Each of these pulls has a medic that will heal itself and it's partner as well as dispell any CC you use on the other mob, so I've found it best to have your Sorcerer chain CC the medic while you pound down the other. If you don't have a sorcerer in your party, use your makeshift CC (fear, sleep arrow) to keep the medic busy.<br />
<br />
Once you've killed the two duos with the medics, locate the second patrol. This patrol travels between the two openings in the wall in front of you and can easily be pulled without aggroing any of the other mobs around. Use the wall to break line of sight if you're having troubles getting him to close in on you.<br />

This brings you to your first hero fight of the Labs. Head Chef Pamsey is not a required fight, but they do have a chance of dropping some of the level 42 Researcher's gear.<br />

<div align="left">Pamsey is one of those scary fast NPCs so if things go bad, running away is probably not a viable option, but otherwise she is a typical mob with nothing overly difficult in her arsenal. Chain CC the add while everyone takes Pamsey down or have your tank hold Pamsey while the rest of the group takes down the add.<br />
<br />
On the other side of the broken wall (to the left of Pamsey when looking at the distanced screenshot above) there is another two-pull group. Beyond them is the <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/screenshot.aspx?id=4722#4722" target="_blank">Keykeeper</a> to gain access to the Old Library. This is another two-pull hero and the add mob is a ranged caster. If you have a sorcerer, I suggest pulling the hero mob while chain sleeping/treeing the caster. The caster will have to run to you to get in-range and in that time, your sorcerer can re-apply their CC. Otherwise in this instance, rooting works if you can stay out of range. <br />

Notice the slept add in the background and the distance to it. Once you have defeated the hero, you can proceed back to the first room of the Aetherogenetics Lab, where the two sealed doors are. The door directly across the room from the door you just exited is your destination. Unlock the door and proceed through.<br />

A lot of how well you do in the Old Library comes down to careful planning as well as luck. You are able to single pull a couple of the mobs, but due to the close proximity of them you have to be careful. Specifically watch out for an attack called Pretor Transformation. This will transform you into a pretor and put you in a fear state, causing you to run away in a random direction. If you run deeper into the library, there is a good chance you will aggro one or more extra mobs. <br />
<br />
The key holder in the Old Library is one of two mobs.  It will either be the <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/npc.aspx?id=212175" target="_blank">Expert Lab Scholar</a> or the rare spawn Librarian Selima. If you have the normal hero spawn, you should be able to handle it just as you handled Pamsey or the first key holder. Selima will be a bit different. Selima has twice the aggro radius of the normal hero which also happens to encompass two elites. <br />
<br />

<i>Attacking any of these three will aggro the whole bunch. Have your party wait on the entrance ramp and run to them. With careful tactics, you can get the elites to reset and fight Selima alone!</i><br />

<div align="left">If you currently have the quest <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/quest.aspx?id=1931" target="_blank"><font size="2">[Group] Rules of Alchemy and Life</font></a> the book that you need is on the shelf next to where you killed the hero for the key. Also, check this room for a treasure box that sometimes spawns in it (located above the southern most arrow on the above image.<br />
<br />
Now that you have the second key, you can proceed towards the Bio Experimentation Lab. Proceed through the door and kill the two elites on the other side. Down the ramp you will find two pretor guarding two different unlocked doors.<br />
<br />
An important thing to remember at this point in the instance is the Pretors do NOT link. Even if two are patrolling together, your Templar can use Inescapable Judgment or a regular taunt to pull them one at a time. <br />
<br />

From this point you have a choice to go left or right, but both paths lead you to the same room. The left room has mudthorns and a Hungry Mudthorn, which holds the key for it's door. The right room has pretors and the <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/npc.aspx?id=212193" target="_blank">Pretor Key Keeper</a>, which has the key to unlock it's door. Taking the mudthorn path gives you a few extra Rotrons to fight in the next room but doesn't overall affect your journey. There is also a random treasure chest spawn in the mudthorn room.<br />
<br />
Passing through one of the above rooms takes you into the Bio Experiment Lab.<br />
<br />

<div align="left">The notable thing about this room are the <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/screenshot.aspx?id=4687#4687" target="_blank">Bio Experiment Devices</a>, which are the class cases on the right of the above screenshot each housing an experiment victim. The devices only have 20hp, but each hit only deals 1 damage. Have your casters and rangers attack the cases from afar to destroy 3 of them for <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/quest.aspx?id=1057" target="_blank">Creating a Monster</a> or go gung-ho on them and kill the NPC within after it aggros you- your choice. Be aware that this room and the ramp leading to the next room have two sets of two pretor patrols. Once again note that they do not link, so pull them one at a time but be aware of where the second patrol is. While they do not link, they will attack you if they get close enough.<br />
<br />
Head down the ramp once you've cleared the way and destroyed the devices. You are facing Rotrons in this room once again. To make fighting the Rotrons faster, have your Templar save their Inescapable Judgment to interrup the Rotron's &quot;recovery&quot; skill that they use between 25% and 50% health.<br />
<br />
Once you've cleared a path to <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/npc.aspx?id=212202" target="_blank">The Gatekeeper</a>, killing his is not a very difficult task.  He is a regular elite like the others you've fought already.<br />
<br />

To unlock the door that <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/npc.aspx?id=212202" target="_blank">The Gatekeeper</a> guards, you need to kill the hero mob just beyond him.  The <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/npc.aspx?id=212342" target="_blank">Key Eater</a> is a Rotron hero mob who is pretty cut and dry to fight. This fight will be very similar to the other hero mobs you've fought thus far in the instance with the exception of the &quot;recovery&quot; skill he uses. It is difficult to interrupt a hero class mob and therefore he is very likely complete the cast. If someone from you party has the ability to silence him while casting, that has been known to work better than other interrupt attempts. <br />

Before you unlock the final door, have your party rest up.  The <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/npc.aspx?id=212205" target="_blank">Perfected Pretor</a> in the next room is essentially three mobs in one with a large aggro radius. Once the door is opened, your group is open to attack. Once you kill his first form, a Mudthorn will spawn, followed by a Rotron when you kill the Mudthorn. It is not a difficult fight, but it can be long enough to hurt a party that isn't prepared for it's length.<br />

During this time it is important for the Templar to try and build up as much hate as possible for when <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/npc.aspx?id=212211" target="_blank">RM-78c</a> breaks off of it's current target.  He will use redirect attacks as well as other powerful abilities, so keep your <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/spell.aspx?id=524" target="_blank">Steel Wall of Defense</a> and/or <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/spell.aspx?id=287" target="_blank">Unwavering Devotion</a> ready in an attempt to prevent the spin.  <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/npc.aspx?id=212211" target="_blank">RM-78c</a> has a chance to drop skillbooks, blue level 42 weapons, and Researcher's Armor, so have your Spirit Master hit him with an <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/spell.aspx?id=17600" target="_blank">Erosion</a> skill and best of luck with your loot!<br />
<br />
After the fight has ended, a NPC slime will appear briefly and turn random party members into a clone of <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/npc.aspx?id=212211" target="_blank">RM-78c</a> temporarily, then disappear.<br />
<br />
The last thing to do in the instance then is to Search the Lepharist's Secret Safe. This is located on a desk to the right of where <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/npc.aspx?id=212211" target="_blank">RM-78c</a> was standing, up the stairs.<br />

For now, take a look through the list and find the instances in your level range, set your sights on something sparkly and valuable, and gather together your bravest friends (and a Spirit Master with <a href="http://www.aionarmory.com/spell.aspx?id=17598" target="_blank">Erosion</a>) for a (hopefully) lucrative adventure or two!<br />

I'd originally just posted this as a reply to Dejh's <a href="http://www.aionsource.com/forum/general-guides/74763-talking-opposing-faction.html" target="_blank">thread</a>.  However, I think this warrants better than the bottom of page 3 so I figured I'd create a new thread.<br />
<br />
Credit where credit is due, the tables Dejh created were a huge step in being able to do this.  I doubt I would have gotten so far so quickly without that groundwork already laid out.  For those paying attention, you will notice the initial table for both sides is identical to the first option to type from Dejh's tables.  I also couldn't have done it without the large group of Elyos who were standing around chatting after they wiped my rifting group while I just sat around and listened.  Similarly, a big thank you to the group of Asmodians who were nice and chatty around the Elyos I created to find out how it works the other way.<br />
<br />
Saying whole words is a little more complex than saying individual letters.  However it is easier to read and looks better than t a l k i n g  l i k e  t h i s.  It can be hard to follow these steps by hand, so if you are struggling with it, there is always the web tool to <a href="http://thedarkrealm.net/apps/aion/index.php" target="_blank">Convert phrases from english to Elyos or Asmodian</a> using Dejh's tables.  Nicodega was kind enough to provide a Windows program to translate phrases for the other side to read.  You can download it from <a href="http://www.aionsource.com/forum/general-guides/86206-talking-opposing-faction-ii.html#post1758913" target="_blank">this post</a>.<br />
<br />
To use these tables, every time you start a new word (Or really have a break in the word, such as the &quot;t&quot; in don't) start at the initial table for the race you want to talk to, look up the letter you want to say on the first line, type the letter you see on the second line (Case matters!) then for the next letter, use the table indicated by the third line.  Repeat this for each letter in the word, then start over for the next word.<br />
<br />
Anything besides letters (Punctuation, numbers, etc) you just type as is and it will get passed as you typed it.  Whenever you do, start over at the initial table for the next letter.<br />
<br />
Everything you say will have the first character capitalized if it is a letter (If it is punctuation, the first letter will be lower case) and the rest will be lower case.  (If you say Hello it will come across like that, but &quot;hello&quot; with the quotes would be all lower case)<br />

As an example, lets say you are Asmodian and want to say to the Elyos &quot;You won't beat me!&quot;  For &quot;You&quot; you'll start on the initial table and type &quot;d&quot; for y, then move to table 2.  Looking up o in table 2 you type &quot;p&quot; then move on to table 1.  In table 1 you want to type &quot;y&quot; for u, resulting in the first word being &quot;dpy&quot;.  Remember, case matters, those are all lower case letters.<br />

Next for &quot;won't&quot;.  Starting over again at the initial table, you type &quot;f&quot; for w and move to table 2.  In table 2, you type &quot;p&quot; for o and move to table 1.  In table 1, you type &quot;r&quot; for n.  At this point you type the apostrophe which starts the next letter over at the initial table, so you type &quot;c&quot; for t.  The second word is &quot;fpr'c&quot;.<br />

Following the same steps the third word is &quot;kiet&quot;, starting with the initial table then 3 letters from table 1.  The fourth word is &quot;vi&quot; again using the initial table followed by table 1.<br />

So if an Asmodian says &quot;dpy fpr'c kiet vi!&quot; the Elyos will see &quot;You won't beat me!&quot;.<br />
<br />
Note that these tables only give one possible way to say things to the other side.  There are numerous things you could type which would all come out the same.  &quot;NZF fZU'E MMft BM!&quot; and &quot;Npy HqT'E MkGv XL!&quot; would also be seen as &quot;You won't beat me!&quot;.  However it is not really necessary to give the full list of what you could type, because it all comes out the same on the other side.</div>

In this guide, I will explain through easy steps, how to enable/activate a number of useful performance and graphical settings, using a simple text file. All that is needed on your part is, to know how to copy/paste text into a text editor like Notepad.<br />

As the title above them suggests, these are 'Basic' settings, they enhance the game without much of a performance hit. If you think 16x Anisotropic is too much you can change the value to 8 or 4. Even if you dont like playing with configurations and not sure what any of this means, you should atleast have the '<b><i>Triple buffering</i></b>' command line [ <font color="DarkOrange">d3d9_TripleBuffering= &quot;1&quot;</font> ], it can and will improve your performance.<br />

-Finally, click <b>Save as</b> in notepad. Name the file &quot;<b>system.ovr</b>&quot; including the Quotes and save it to a location you remember. You must save the text file with this name or it wont work.<br />

<font color="Lime">Alright, now you have a text file named ' <b><font color="SeaGreen">system.ovr</font></b> ' which contains the above settings, to actually use these settings in Aion, we do the following:</font><br />

<font color="Yellow">-Browse to your Aion folder   [ex.  C:\Aion ]</font><br />
<br />
<br />
<font color="Yellow">-Look for a text file named '<font color="DarkOrange">system.cfg</font>' and delete it, this file saves your last settings, and is auto-created every time you exit the game, so no need to worry.</font><br />
<br />
<br />
<font color="Yellow">-Copy '<font color="DarkOrange">system.ovr</font>' that we created into your Aion folder.</font><br />
<br />
<br />
That is all, the next time you run the game. The settings in the 'system.ovr' will be processed. Its important to remember that the values you set in system.ovr may not be correctly displayed in the game's default graphics settings menu. So don't let that confuse you.<br />
<br />
<font color="Yellow">*Note: Because you deleted system.cfg, your previous settings will be reset including Anti-aliasing. So the image may look edgy, you can re-enable Anti-Aliasing either using the In-game default interface, or you can add the Anti-aliasing command lines with proper settings</font><br />

Now, that you have system.ovr in your Aion folder, you can enable/disable/change numerous game settings by simply adding command lines in the text file and saving it. For example:<br />

In Aion, we can change the brightness from the default in-game UI, but not the contrast. If you want to change the game contrast, simply add the following line to system.ovr :<br />

</div>Here we set the Contrast value of Aion to 0.55, If we use TVs as our standard, then Contrast value 1 in Aion is equal to Contrast 100 (full) in TV, Contrast 0.01 in Aion is 1 in TVs (minimum), and Contrast 0.50 is contrast 50 in a TV.<br />

So, in the above example. Contrast 0.55 means Contrast 55, which is a little more than the default in Aion (0.50). You can also directly change the contrast in-game through the in-game console, more on that later.<br />
<br />

Also to change Brightness, we use:<br />

If you want to stop using system.ovr as a whole, simply rename it to something else (like system.txt), and delete system.cfg<br />

By now, you should already know what is system.ovr,and how it works. There are many setings that can be adjusted, but not all of them matter to us. I will mention here some settings that i recommend, and use personally when playing.<br />
<br />
Before that, some settings <b>but not all</b>, can be directly changed in the game through the in-game console. Which can be accessed by pressing ' PauseBreak ' key from your keyboard while in-game. For example, we can directly change Contrast in-game and see the effects instantly with the following steps:<br />
<br />
<font color="Yellow">-First, run Aion and login</font><br />
<br />
<font color="Yellow">-Once in-game, press the ' PauseBreak ' key on your keyboard. A green screen should appear, this is the in-game console.</font><br />
<br />
<font color="Yellow">-Type: &quot; \r_contrast= &quot;0.65 &quot; without the quotes, then press Enter, remove the console window by pressing ' PauseBreak ' again, you should immediately notice a change in contrast. </font><br />
<br />
<font color="Yellow">**The prefix <b>\ </b> is needed for commands to work in the console **</font><br />
<br />
Keep changing the contrast value until you find the level you like, then you may prefer to use this value in ' system.ovr ' so you won't have to type it everytime you login.<br />
<br />
Remember that not all effects work using the in-game console, most only work by adding there command lines in system.ovr, also there are some that only work in the in-game console. Example:<br />

<br />
<font color="Lime">Here is a graphical setting that i always use and highly recommend, and you can use it only through the in-game console. Its called <font color="Green">FieldOfView</font> (FOV) and this is how it works:</font><br />
<br />
<font color="Yellow">-Log in-game and press 'PauseBreak' for console</font><br />
<br />
<font color="Yellow">-Type the following line:</font><br />

You will notice that something is different, weird at first. The mountains seem further away, your character seem to run faster. Eventually you will realize that you can now see 75% more in the same screen, basically your field of view have increased.<br />
<br />
You can use any value between 1 and 180, i personally use 100 after lots of testing. You are free to test and choose what you prefer. Also remember that when if you change any setting in Aion using the default in-game menu, it will reset the FOV to 60. So you will need to set it to 100 again.<br />

Now, you know how to use some very useful settings through the in-game console. What remains is simply listing other effects that can be adjusted, here are some settings you can add to your system.ovr , put them under the title '#Extra settings#', explanation is included for some of them.<br />

You can set it longer if you want it to be more precise for each mob fight, but that also means when the mob dies, it will record 0 damage for however many seconds you set the option at, so it will lower your dps significantly if you set it too high. *Choosing another option like &quot;You gain experience&quot; will not work*<br />

Recently i was reading news and i bumped onto this: <a href="http://www.aionsource.com/forum/general-guides/76684-howto-icons-chat.html" target="_blank">http://www.aionsource.com/forum/gene...cons-chat.html</a> after reading i tought it would be nice to have some kind of app to make pasting that icon in chat easier. So i made my little app (in JAVA). Hope someone finds it useful. ;]<br />

Usage:<br />
<br />
1. open app by doubleclicking in AionChatIcon.jar<br />
2. click on button with icon that you want to be copied into clipboard<br />
3. Alt-Tab back to game<br />
4. Ctrl+v in open chat, shop description, legion notice etc to paste it. ;]<br />
5. enjoy the game ;]<br />

Requirements:<br />

1. Installed JRE (Java Runtime Environment ) - downloadable at <a href="http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp" target="_blank">Java SE Downloads - Sun Developer Network (SDN)</a><br />
<br />
This app shouldn't be breaking Aions EULA, all it does is copying strings into clipboard, same way you do it with ctrl+c. For paranoic ppl (afraid of password/login scams) please run this app AFTER runnig and loging into game to be sure that nothing bad will happen ;]. Also feel free to make scan with any avaible web virus scanners.<br />
<br />
Also pls post any comments, sugestions, ideas for future features that can be added.<br />
<br />
UI may still be lacking some finishing touches but it should work fine as it is. <br />
