Please... dear god let them do something like this. I actively waste tons of my game time trying to get bots killed (glads are the only one I can really do this too, but still at least they are the majority)

I have a list of names I have been reporting for nearly a month! I have watched them go from 5 levels below me to 15 levels above me in the past two weeks... This is so frustrating and I am shocked and appalled that these same bots still have their accounts.

I don't think Aelo would have put so much time into preparing a proposal such as this if the GM's were actually doing something about the problem on a consistent basis. That is also why he made sure he noted very carefully that there is plenty of details that need to be hammered out to avoid players taking advantage of their position.

I have actually thought that this would be a good idea. If implemented something like UO used to do. There would have to be a very strict screening process though. I would definitely volunteer.

This is whats gonna happen: That person is gonna sell his "service" to some rich dude in some random scrub legion on that server. The only thing that'll happen will be that certain volunteer to get kicked off by NCSoft, thats it, there can be no lawsuit or anything else.

The only thing this volunteer should be able to do, would be to give reports directly to the GM's. So to say as eyes and ears of the GM's. Since theres only 5 GM's apparently.

Well I already had sended ayase a tell about this. I think people are drowning in a glass of water. If one of the things bothering most atm are bots you can have a gm that can only deal with that. Because as i have said on other posts before right now I know a couple ppl that already quited cause of bots. And if anyone think this is a trivial matter then you really are not looking at what they do to the economy of a server. I would be the first in line to give 1-2 hours a day to ban bots if thats even the only thing I am required to do.

You seem to be misunderstanding the OP's intent. This is not an issue of who gets paid or if NCSoft makes a profit. This is about players who care enough about the game and the community to volunteer their time to rid ourselves of bots and gold farmers. Who gets paid is irrelevant since the overall player community wins in the long run.

As someone said before, monitoring 30 volunteers to keep it corruption free is way easier than monitoring thousands of bots.

I vouch for this.

no, the volunteers would also serve as the "eyes and ears " for the "official" Aion GM's . They'd make themselves available to players in addition to handling bot reports . That way players can direct questions ,complaints etc. at those volunteers who in turn would forward important issues to GM's or other appropriate department ( they'd also have a line of communication to technical support and account management for example ).

Id love to be picked due to the amount of time i spend playing this game currently and the amount of bots i see.

It is ridiculas the amount of bots there is and it is driving me to quit the game. They have such an advantage over every1 that doesnt bot ( the honest player )

And personally i would like to see them all get burned and go down ( banned ftw )

I totally vouch for this idea. As a U.S. Navy Military Police Stationed overseas, I believe in nothing but integrity, and if you dont know what it means to have integrity then you have no reason to volunteer for a program such as this. I would love to be part of this in ANY form. Keep Aion Bot and Spammer free!!

I would love this idea. Since the Korean devs seem to have a disconnect with what American players want (apparently bots are tolerated more in Asia?), it would be great if we could police the game of the abusers. I would say for starters be able to put a 6 hour ban on a player who is spamming in game chat or is using a personal store to advertise gold selling. How to handle a bot would be a bit more troublesome, since it's not always obvious if it is a bot or a legit player grinding. A good point I saw another person bring up is that you can't moderate your own server so no one will be playing favorites.

*gives stamp of approval and volunteers*

Yes though now that I think about it I probably wouldn't volunteer. Considering I already work customer service 8 hours a day 5 days a week by answering phones and solving peoples problems with their phone bills.

It would have to be a strict screening process and the moderators would need to only have very few powers. Some people have described stuff that would be hard to abuse.

I was a moderator, then a GM for Ultima Online back in the late 90's, and it worked fine. There were a few who had to be "relieved of their positions" due to them doing stupid things, but overall it was a success.

I was also a volunteer moderator in Asheron's Call 2, and it went well there also.

I'd love to help personally, but even if not chosen, would support the idea. Anything that helps.

Z
