Anyways give up on the idea NCsoft will never approve.

again, its not like this has never been done in the past with GREAT success.

So yeah, I can totally tell why you wouldn't think it would work /sarcasm

I think this is a great idea. There are plenty of mature, responsible players that would not abuse the power and with the ability to record in-game or take screen shots there shouldn't be an issue with providing proof. I have only one chat channel "on" anymore and last night I logged on to see a gold spammer in Israphel's cleric chat. Enough already.

Seriously there is no reason why NCsoft can't hire some paid GMs to ban bots and geldsellers. They're a big company, even smaller ones can do it. I've seen private servers with better support, it's a joke.
Even if a "volunteer program" would work it would be the confirmation that NCsoft does not care about it's customers or the game at all and I'd rather move on to another game before I support a company that refuses to hire GMs to help their customers.

Your /sarcasm still won't change the fact that you will never see this implemented in this game.

I voted for it beeing a stupid idea, why?
Dont give players rights, you will need a team of people that are monitoring the players and looking in to there actions. These people could be used to ban the botters instead. I allso think that a permenent solution is better. There are some threads that have a lot better ideas than this one.

As other said people will abuse this.

Didn't a game company implement this back in the 90s but something happened and the volunteer GMs actually sued the game company because of all the time and effort they had put into their service? Several companies decided to end their volunteer service right away due to this.

Maybe not, but its not a bad idea. I can be positive towards ideas, you don't always have to be emo. REVELATION!

I didn't mention this, but this is another thing.

Plus, we don't know Aion's system of "Banning" or Chat banning. For all we know it can only be done by a separate program/tool which could potentially reveal information about the player's account. NCSoft MUST uphold it's Privacy Agreement, and hiring unoffical people who have access to this information certainly violates it.

I think filing a volunteer program report should block a user from uninitiated /w's and global channels, pending a GM review.

While potential for abuse is there, if abuse is found it should result in a ban.

I would volunteer. Hell on other games I play the majority of the time when I'm not doing much I'm reporting rule breakers. >_< I'm a very lazy person too so that's like...All the time.

A volunteer system would be great for Aion, but volunteers should never ever be given the power to ban other players (this includes temp bans). It will just create a whole elitist situation in game, and I just think it will also make things worse when those who get banned or temp banned start to complain in masses. Put up a volunteer system and allow the volunteers to temporarily mute gold spammers, but thats it. GMs should be the only ones who can ban other players. Just my 2 cents.

Bot Much?

Then again if gold sellers can't sell their gold, they wouldn't bot as much.

I don't see how anything this person said suggest botting. Unless you mean botting is the reason to have temp ban.

But NO. Please. Never give common players the ability to ban.

This has nothing to do with me botting or not botting. Giving regular players the ability to ban other players in an MMORPG is just plain stupid any way you look at it. Like somebody already mentioned, NCSoft needs to hire more GMs and have them deal with the situation. I am not opposed to a volunteer system that allows its volunteers to mute gold spammers though. As long as its properly monitored and any abuse will be dealt with accordingly (e.g. a volunteer who mutes another player because of a fight or disagreement should be kicked out of the volunteer program indefinitely).

A lot of folks who want to volunteer would love to have the ability to ban, and quite a few of these same folks would completely lose interest in volunteering if that power was taken away. I am sorry, but its just a bad idea.

If something like this does get implemented, you can definitely count me in. I have a lot of free time on my hands and would be more than happy to volunteer.
