Skills/Abilities - Suggestion Thread (Help the devs)
Since its obvious from the ”Skills/Abilities - Quantity not Quality” thread, everyone wants a lot of abilities.
Now as a developer, it might be tough to get the time to sit and come up with 100 different ideas, so that’s why I’ll make this thread to help them ![]() Please keep in mind that they should not be very overpowered in ability, no “be all end all” abilities. Also keep in mind they should fit into the lore of Aion, and most importantly, think about how hard they would be to implement. But do think of INTERESTING ideas... I’m sure the devs have already come up with the “defaul spammable” abilities. Feel free to add chain-skills too. Since we obviously don’t know how much damage is worth “a lot” or “a little”, you’ll have to spesify what you mean, such as “very light damage”, “light damage”, “medium damage”, “heavy damage”, “very heavy damage”, for instance. I’ll update this post with any of your suggestions, please post them in the following format, so they are easy to read and keep track of: Name - obviously what you think it should be called Class? - if you have a class in mind Type - meelee or magic? AoE or straight damage? Etc Range - the range of the ability, size of the AoE, etc Mana - since we don’t know what will be used, we’ll just call it “mana” Cast Time - should it be instant, channeled, or have a casting time, and how long? Cooldown - if it has a cooldown, spesify how long Description - what the ability does Animation - if you have special ideas for the animation DIVINE INTERVENTION Class Priest/Main Healer Type Magic AoE Heal Range Medium Mana All remaining mana, must have at least half a mana bar to cast Cast Time Instant Channeled, 10 seconds Cooldown 20 minute cooldown Description Over 10 seconds (being channeled) the ability heals all friendly targets within the AoE for 10% of the health every second. The ability drains 10% of the casters mana every second, must have at least 50% mana to cast. Animation “Sparkles” begin to form over the AoE area, then build up, the ground lights up a bit, and both continue to grow in size/density until the spell is finished casting, at which point the sparkles “mini explode” and the ground light fades away. IMPACT DIVE Class - Warrior Type - Physical Range - varies Description - The character using this move will dive straight down from the present position, causing an explosion with knockback on touching the ground. The size and damage of this explosion vary depending on the height of the dive Animation - User folds their arms across their chest and gives one great beat of their wings, propelling them upward a further three feet or so. Then, a bright shockwave bursts outwards as they begin to plunge downward extremely fast, now with arms and wings folded. After they dive for long enough, another shockwave radiates out and the color of their reentry thingamawhat changes. starting out a dim red and eventually cycling into a blinding white. When they make contact with the ground, there is a wide-radius, circular blast focused on the point of impact. Should knock everyone down/back within the area. I know that sounds broken, but it's not like this particular move can really be 'spammed'. SOUL EATER Class - priest Type - magic - one ally/enemy Range - 10 yards (pretty close) Mana - none Cast Time - instant Cooldown - 20 min (or some other long time, depending on other skill cooldowns) Description - this ability "eats" one buff from a foe or one debuff from an ally and turns it into mana for the priest (not sure how much, would need testing for balance, of course) PRESSURE POINT Class - ranger/warrior/stealth ? Type - small swort/ knife Range - close combat / possible requiring that you be in a blind spot or just lucky Mana - 10 / 100 ? Cast Time - instant Cooldown - 3 minutes Description - enemy is unable to attack, they can move but at a slower rate. This lasts for 20 seconds. If a critical hit was landed (very rare) enemy is unconscious until attacked. Very small to no damage. Animation - PC crouches then lunges forward with the butt end of sword/knife [b]METAL TORNADO Class - Warrior Type - Polearm Range - AOE (about the size of the polearm) Mana - 25 / 100 Cast Time - 5 seconds (long enough to be stunned) Cooldown - 6 mins Description - PC spins around with polearm in hand and knocks down targets in reach causing "small" amounts of damage. The PC's movement is slowed for 5 seconds due to "dizziness" Animation - PC takes polearm and winds up like they are about to bat. Then begins to swing themselves around with the polearm fully extended. This lasts for 2 seconds then the PC slows down and staggers a little. Total animatoin time 6 secodns. HEMORRHAGE Class - Warrior Type - Slashing Range - 5 yards Mana - 5% of base mana Cast Time - Instant Cooldown - 3 seconds Description - Causes the target to bleed for 10 seconds, each tick does (weapon dmg / strength * 10) damage. Two handed weapons stackable up to 3 times. Dual-Wielding/Single handed will stack 4 times due to the damage difference in comparison to two handed weapons. Animation - Maybe a fancy slashing move CUNNING STRIKE Class - Warrior Type - Dual-Wielding only Range - 5 yards Mana - 7% of base mana Cast Time - Instant Cooldown - 1 second Description - In an acrobatic feat you mange to strike your opponent 4 times causing (weapon damage / agility * 12) + (strength / 3) per strike. Animation - Striking duration would last a couple seconds. Again, just something that is pretty to look at. INNER RAGE Class - Warrior Type - Buff Range - Self Mana - 2% of base mana Cast Time - 3 seconds Cooldown - 1 second Description - You become enraged causing you to almost glow with anger and hatred thus raising your overall strength and sharpening your melee skills giving you a 5% bonus to hit and a (strength / level * 10) to your damage. Effect last for 3 minutes. Animation - When the buff takes hold steam effects will rise from your body. DESPERATION Class - Warrior Type - Self Buff Range - N/A Mana - Uses HP Health - Sacrifice 80% of remaining Cast Time - Very Low Cooldown - 30 minutes Description - User sacrifices 80% of HP for an immense boost in P Atk, Atk Speed, Speed, Critical Rate for 60 seconds. Level Increases - ammount atk, atk spd, and speed rise increases. Animation - User yells into air while shaking head Comments - Last offences attack for brining down an enemy when there isn't much hope. DESPERATION 2 (Alternate) Class - Warrior Type - Self Buff Range - N/A Mana - High Cast Time - Very Low Cooldown - 30 minutes Description - User has has an extremely large increase in atk, atk spd, critical, and running speed for 60 seconds, when 60 seconds is finished user becomes exhausted and atk, atk spd, running speed, defense, and accuracy are all lowered immensely for 60 seconds. Level Increases - amount atk, atk spd, and speed rise could increase or the length of exhaustion could lower (or amount of stat decrease when exhausted.) Animation - User yells into air while shaking head Comments - Last resort to bring enemy down quickly CROSS SLASH Class - Shield Type Warrior Type - Close Range Physical Range - Close Mana - Moderate Cast Time - Very Low Cooldown - Low Description - User smacks enemy with shield, momentarily overwhelming them, then crouches and slashes horizontally across abdomen. Chance to cause bleeding. Level Increases - Attack Power. Animation - User of skill smacks enemy with shield leaving him open then crouches down and swings sword across abdomen cutting them then returns to normal stance. Comments - Simple attacking Skill... NEUTRALIZING BASH Class - Pole Type Warrior Type - Close Range Physical Range - Close Mana - Moderate Cast Time - Very Low Cooldown - Moderate Description - user pushes enemy with middle of shaft, momentarily overwhelming them, then brings pole spinning around hitting them in the side and knocking them down. Level Increases - Attack Power. Animation - Push enemy with middle of shaft then bring pole above head and start to swing to side while shifting the hand that is higher on the shaft down to close to the other hand and swinging around into enemy. Name - Soul Eater
Class - priest Type - magic - one ally/enemy Range - 10 yards (pretty close) Mana - none Cast Time - instant Cooldown - 20 min (or some other long time, depending on other skill cooldowns) Description - this ability "eats" one buff from a foe or one debuff from an ally and turns it into mana for the priest (not sure how much, would need testing for balance, of course) i know this skill exists in some form in other mmo's (guild wars?). i still like it and it can be a life saver when the ol priest is low on mana and you got debuffs or buffs around. Animation - just a nicely done reddish black link between the two chars for a second would look cool

Alright here are some interesting skills i thought of, most of them are archer skills. I also decided to add a bit more information.
Name - Bombardment Class - Archer Type Type - Ranged AoE Damage Range - Decent Range, Decent AoE Size Mana - Depletion per second, amount dependent on skill level Cast Time - Very short to get up and running Cooldown - Very short if any Description - Combo Skill sort of, requirement of more than one archer in party to use at same time, archer fire triple arrows in to the sky very quickly which rain down on a targeted area causing AoE damage Animation - Quick animation firing arrows repeatedly in sky. Level Increases - As lvl increases range, amount of arrows fired, or amount of damage caused could increase (could also require less archers or only one archer) Comments - Could force enemies into AoE zone by using in narrow area, funnel enemies into certain directions, or protect objects etc. Name - Long Shot Class - Archer Type Type - Ranged Damage Range - Extreme Range Mana - Medium - Large Depletion per shot Cast Time - Instant Cooldown - None Description - Range and critical attack increases a very large amount, Attack Speed drops dramatically, mana is consumed for strength required to pull arrows back great amount. Damage is increased due to speed of arrows, skill user becomes immobile. Level Increases - As lvl increases range, damage, or attack speed could increase. Animation - Users attack animation becomes exaggerated with slower and further pullback of arrows. users face becomes very focused. Comments - Obvious Purposes, Could be used as a single use skill if needed. Name - Running Shot Class - Archer Type Type - Ranged Damage Range - Range same as normal arrow attack or slightly lower Mana - Depletion per second, amount dependent on skill level Cast Time - Instant Cooldown - None Description - When skill is active and depleting mana archer could continue running (Lowering Speed greatly though) while firing an arrow. (if target is behind user, character spins around and backpedals). accuracy and speed decrease when firing (shots fired while not running but with skill active would be normal) Level Increases - As level increase running speed while firing arrows could increase (possibly 100% speed when at end game lvl's) and accuracy could increase (possibly 100% when at end game lvl's) Animation - Face target and side step or back pedal. Run forward if target infront. Comments - Always wanted to be able to run and shoot while being an archer. Name - Arrow Stab Class - Archer Type Type - Physical Close Range Damage Range - Very Low Mana - Medium - Low Cast Time - Very Low Cooldown - 1 minute or something Description - Archer grabs arrow from quiver and stabs enemy. can possibly cause bleeding etc. Level Increases - Damage and chance of bleeding increases Animation - Arrow pulled and thrust into enemy Comments - last resort attack for archer who has been caught or is in close up situation. Name - Stomp Shot Class - Archer Type Type - Physical Close Range Range - Very Low Mana - Extremely High Cast Time - relatively quickly Cooldown - Long Description - Combo Skill, Enemy must be knocked down. Ranger stomps one foot on enemies chest, loads several arrows, and fires all into enemy at point blank causing immense damage Level Increases - As level increase damage increases. Animation - Stand on chest, load arrows, and fire those suckers Comments - doesn't picturing this skill make you all warm and fuzzy inside? i know it does for meName - BackShot / Cancel Escape / etc.etc. Class - Archer Type - Arrow Range - Long Mana - High Cast Time - Medium Cooldown - Long Description - As target is running or has back to you arrow is ****ed and pulled extremely tight, fired at high velocity. Arrow crashes into back causing incredible damage and possibly knocking target on there face Level Increases - As level increase damage increases, firing speed increases, range increases, cooldown decreases. Animation - Meh, picture it in your head Comments - God Don't you hate it when that little wussy tries to get away with that chunk of health just big enough to allow them to escape? here is your answer carebare's beware.Alright enough ranger skills, time for some other stuff Name - Arrow Thwart Class - Tank / Warrior (shield type) Type - Defense against arrow attacks Range - N/A Mana - Depletion per second, amount dependent on skill level Cast Time - Very Quick Cooldown - None Description - When skill is active and depleting mana toon becomes immobile and lifts shield, Defense against arrows is increased an extreme ammount. Could leave character open and vulnerable to magic/melee etc. Level Increases - As Level increases defense could also increase (possibly as high as %5 damage at end game lvl's) Animation - Toon kneels and raises shield deflecting incoming arrows (300 anyone?) Comments - A skill to help the old Warrior > Archer > Mage etc. That we all know and love? Name - Magic Absorbtion Class - Priest / healer etc. Type - Magic Defense Range - N/A Mana - Not sure, you guys decide Cast Time - Moderate Cooldown - Moderate Description - Skill is cast and effects last for certain time (1 minute or something), half of all magic damage is is transfered into mana increasing it (50% damage of all attacks on HP, the other 50% adds to mana) Level Increases - Amount added to mana could increase or w/e, length of barrier could increase Animation - Toon casts something on themselves and when hit by magic spells has a burst of blue aura Comments - Useful defense skill for priests increasing mana and decreasing damage allowing them to defend themselves by healing or taking a bit more damage. Name - Soul Shield Class - Priest / healer etc. Type - Magic Defense Range - N/A Mana - Not sure, you guys decide Cast Time - Instant Cooldown - None Description - When skill is activated HP is depleted continuously, all damage from magic attacks are subtracted from MP (maybe at 1/2 amount or something, example: magic attack does 1000 damage, takes 500 MP away) until it reaches 0, then HP is depleted. Level Increases - Hp consumed increases, ratio taken from mp decreases (1/2 to start maybe down to 1/5 etc.) Animation - when hit by magic spells Comments - Useful defense skill for priests to icnrease survivability, probobly used as a last chance skill because priest probobly don't wana use their mana up fully. Alright i think thats a good start, more skills to come when i feel creative.

Not sure if there is going to be dual-wielding in Aion, just in case there is I added a skill for it.
Name - Hemorrhage Class - Warrior Type - Slashing Range - 5 yards Mana - 5% of base mana Cast Time - Instant Cooldown - 3 seconds Description - Causes the target to bleed for 10 seconds, each tick does (weapon dmg / strength * 10) damage. Two handed weapons stackable up to 3 times. Dual-Wielding/Single handed will stack 4 times due to the damage difference in comparison to two handed weapons.
