Assassins Dominating pvp?
Assassins/rouges from other MMO's like Wow seem to be the chosen pvp class. Though in Wow they have been nerfed up and down, in other games they clearly dominate.
Does anyone think this to be the case with Aion? Are assassins with their stealth and backstab attacks just born to be cheap? I guess this is a question of class balancing, and I'm sure Aion will do its best to balance classes in PvE and PvP, but so have other games, and rouge pvp just doesn't change often. |

I hope they NCsoft develops the assassin-class as a balanced one. I've chosen assassin to play, but that don't mean, I want to be uber and roxx0r liek h3ll. I like the playstyle and hope it gets well balanced, so the majority won't cry "nerf assassin"...

That would be a deal breaker for me, I wont play a new game if the pvp isn't balanced.

I love the GW assassin, personally. They kill faster than pretty much anything else in the game, but they die pretty easily. If you're good at controlling one you can normally get away from a kill before you get killed. If you try to get greedy and kill more than one target you'll probably die.
The assassin isn't some super-class. It can be killed. Spike it. Kite it. Run away to the rest of your team and cast AOE spells. Just don't try to take it on headfirst without backup if you didn't see it coming. If you saw the assassin coming you'd probably be able to kill him before he got to you if you have a ranged character, or buff yourself if you're melee. This only applies to GW though, of course. I have no idea how assassins work in WoW.

Why?
Game isn't out yet and you think the class gets harassed first...

Like the op said, rogues in WoW have been up and down quite a bit... There's a fairly widely-discussed period in the game often referred to as World of Roguecraft when they dominated and everybody and their sister played one. When I stopped playing a few months ago it really depended on who you were fighting and what kind of gear you had... though more so the first one (rogue vs. warrior you might as well just run away unless you plan on stuck locking them for a very long time). Personally, having played a rogue since the game released, I'm pretty burnt out of stealth classes and can't see myself playing one anytime soon.
As for Aion, I really hope they don't try to take that easy rock-paper-scissors path to balancing. WoW has been especially bad with this where a warrior might dominate a rogue but get destroyed by an ice mage... to me this is cheap kind of "balancing" and makes the game a lot less fun. I know it'd be incredibly difficult, but I want to play a game where no matter what class I am I can go into a fight against any other class and have only our skill determine who wins. But, you can't really go wrong with "nerf assassins" so they can go ahead with that. |

Yeah I realize what a hard task it is. And I never expect perfection at all. Its a constant struggle to keep balance. But I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate rock-paper-scissors balancing.
Being told your not supposed to beat a class just stinks. At least when a class is overpowered by accident, you know it can be fixed. With rock-paper-scissors everyone is overpowered to someone. It takes the skill, and fun out of it all. |

if you're going to use wow as an example, what about warlocks? that class always dominated pvp. i don't think that's disputable. rogues get the wrap they do because they can pick their fights and do amazing burst damage, and have a few dirty tricks up their sleeves, but they are in no way invincible. really, it comes down to how well you know your class and how well you know the class you're fighting against. 've never cried nerf because i know that i am only as limited as to how well i know and can play my class. 've gotten upset before about a specific class, but i went out of my way to learn what was going on, what i could have done better, etc. take some personal responsibility before you ask devs to get involved with their nerf bats.
