It's said that you will take around 1 month to reach cap while playing normal (no hardcore and not too casual).

Wow 1 month... It took me 2 years to get my first job(PLD) in FFXI to 75.... but after that it took like 4 months or so for NIN and WAR

The all time record I seen is my SMN friend Aaris hit 75 in 29 days..... she was crazy >.>

Heh ffxi took along time to lvl compared to other mmorpgs depending on class tho usually tanks and mages had no prob lvling still took me month and a half to 2 months on um. While in wow only took 2 weeks or so to reach 60 then 2 weeks to 70 tho there were some faster

Well... I think they've said it'll take a bit longer than WoW. I'm pretty sure that 1 month figure is for more hardcore players, since WoW takes about 10-15 days of playtime to get your first max level, and if this is taking a bit longer I would imagine it's about 13-20 days played, but that's pure conjecture. This would obviously mean a casual player would take well over a month. A month of normal play would be ridiculously short, since "normal pay" is probably closer to 15-20 hours a week than 12 hours a day :P Even if you're putting in 24 hours a week (more than average) that's about 10-15 weeks in WoW.

A bit longer in wow as in 1-60 or 1-70?

A bit longer then 1-60 would be great for me, a bit longer then 1-70 would be kinda tedious.

Yep I think it's 1 month for hardcore players, 2-3 months for regular and longer for casuals ^_^

I had an explanation typed out, but it's just not worth going into detail about... I was talking 1-60 at launch what literally every person I'd talked to had as their playtime on their first toon, which I think is far more relevant to the conversation than a 1-70 after the first x-pac.

Psh 1 month! what a disappointment... Im loving the FFXI lvling now been playing a week and only just hit 20 whmg/10 blm (blm is actually 12 but you know.. half the lvl deal..) ..... i blew wow out of teh water it was WAY to easy. 1-70 max professions epic mounts and all heroic keys in just under 3 weeks 60-70 on another in 5 days. If the lvling goes that fast then i really hope crafting or getting gear mounts takes a bit more time, i'd like to have to put in some effort.

WoW started at 60... but then it ended at 70. Enough said.

wow you guys are lazy for those of you who think its fun to get max level in 1 month lol that would be so bad cause whats the fun after max level...that is not a challenge if u can get max level in 1 month

i think a bit more of a challenge is needed like 6 months for the casual gamer and 4 months for the hardcore or a bit more .... cause after max level there will not be much to do

Please, Tez, please, stop calling it laziness. It's not a matter of laziness, it's a matter of how you like to play the game. In WoW the destination wasn't just max level, there was plenty to do after that. Granted, I don't think raiding is a wonderful thing, but WoW really did start at 60. I'd be happy with getting maxed out and then PvPing to be honest. Yah, the journey is great, but what's the journey worth if you don't enjoy the destination? If you want a grind fest that's going to take ages to max out, I hate to say, but Aion might just be the wrong game for you... The devs have said they're continuing the Lineage series in its usual tradition.

Furthermore, the difference between hardcore and casual gamers isn't a matter of months, it's a matter of percents. You can't really have a game where hardcore players are getting maxed in 4 months and casual in 6. If hardcore are getting maxed in 4 months I'd say realistically speaking for a casual gamer you're looking at 8-12 months minimum, and that's with a rest exp system like WoW's.

I lol'd

About the laziness issue,

There is NO way a gamer to be too lazy to play a video game. When people don't want to play a game, its not because they are lazy, its because the game is work, not fun. Why would you ever want to play a game that is not fun for four months.
