how should the attack system be?
i would like to see this game with a free style kind of attack system, where u can move around and evade by jumping or side-steppin, and being able to attack by clicking. still being able to use whatever skills each class is given. when i play WoW i find myself being bored by the whole right clicking to lock on...run up to the guy...and just watch ur character hack away while waiting for the right time to use ur skills by pressing 2...then 4...the 2 again just gets extremely boring. anyone who has played gunz the duel i feel it should be an attack system like that. not exactly like gunz obviously but wit the whole have to actually focus and try, something that actually gets ur heart pumping when ur low on life trying to survive. i mean how many of u get ****ed when ur playing wow and u try to run and escape and ur about a good 50 feet away from ur target and ur hit by a melee attack? idk about u but that gets me annoyed to no extent...thats just what i think...
how do all u feel? |

I know what you mean about the system for attack and such, I think the Gunz system would be a little OTT but I understand where your coming from.
D&DO has an inivative system like that, you can attack block and roll out the way by your self, no roll or block skills or anything its upto you how to use them. Its a nice system but at times it can get confusing especially if you have an absolute mob on you. The other downside is that server load may be increased by this system, most MMO systems guess your next movements while your doing them, thats why laggy people seem to warp around and with all these variables running it may prove difficult for the server to calculate them all.

The Cronicles of Spellborn has a cool system imo. You can evade attacks and spells, though it will be hard, it won't be impossible.
I'd like such a system in Aion, it shouldn't be too easy to dodge otherwise some players would be much more effective then others. I do think everyone should have an even chance of hitting something. And i really hope jumping doesn't evade anything because you'll get giant jumping contests instead of an exciting pvp battle. ![]()

I like a more active combat system as well. Dodging spells would have to be difficult though, unless it is an AoE type spell.
Bunny hop wars in PvP would be really annoying

In my opinion, the best combat system i ever tryied is the Guild Wars one. it is very easy, press E on keyboard to lock the targhet and with numbers you can active your skills, so comfortable and easy, with the mouse you can move you character simpli clicking on the ground.
I tryied also lineage 2, Final Fantasy XI, but they really have a difficult inferface, don't like them. I hope NCsoft will use the Guild Wars Control System for Aion....it's the best ![]() |

Increasing numbers of recent topics are depressing.

I think rather than asking how the attacking system SHOULD be, it should be how the attacking IS. After all, I doubt that they will change it now that they're this far along the lines.
I'm also not exactly clear on what you're asking. Are you talking about auto-attacking? I'm not really in favor of auto-attacking if that's what you're talking about. AoC has an active attacking system where every swing you do is from you hitting a button, CoH also have this feature. I think WoW did a pretty terrible job when it came to PvP, just right clicking on someone and just chasing them will essentially get you to get free shots at them. |

I see that as a good thing, I for one get quite bored seeing the same threads each time I log in.
This thread might not be an entire new thing to discuss, but unlike some other threads, the OP here did put a bit of thought in it. And it gives something to read . ![]() On topic : Putting a bit more variety in the attack system can't hurt, Just watching your char slash away at a mob with the occasional press of a skill button isn't that amusing (unless you're in a lazy mood maybe) . But it also shouldn't require you to have to use your hands, toes and nose to be able to execute all the movements . A balance between the two would be perfect but that is of course easier said then done. |
