Character Customization - How much is there really?

This is one of the biggest things for me in an MMO, is individuality, and basically every MMORPG out there is lacking it. All characters look the same or similar in most MMORPGs and I hope that's not the case here. I read the FAQ and it said that there will be ways to customize your character, but it didn't really go into any detail about how you can. Is there any speculation or ideas about what we can Really do with our characters yet? Hopefully there will be a lot of creation options for height, weight, faces, etc, etc, but I'd honestly like to see some way to customize your clothes/armor, instead of seeing a lot of people wearing the same thing.

I'm just a little worried about the level of customization from some of the videos I've seen, and from other MMOs that made similar promises and didn't deliver. Just some thoughts.

only shows a little bit of the color changes. It seems like everything you wear can change color though (with basic parts remaining the same general color)

That is an added bonus, but I'm honestly not that impressed. People would still be wearing the same armor, but just a different color. If there was actually some sort of way to customize the look of your armor, and not just the color that would be pretty innovative I think. I'm not talking about fashion designer level detail or anything like that, but just something to make it unique from what other people have.

If looking unique is a high priority for you, prepare for disappointment.

There's really nice vids with character creation in the video section, armors are gorgeous in the game I don't really mind if all you can do to them is color them. We still don't know how varied they are either. It'd be nice if tailors had recipes of looks that can only be crafted..

As for the character themselves you can pick hairstyle, color, eye color, skin color, makeup, height, weight and voice. It's rather extensive ^_^
There's a thread on whether we'll see further customization in game after creation: ...what about later..

EDIT: Necrosis, disapointed how so? If you are talking about armors I catch your drift, otherwise.. O.o

well, the miracle would be that they have character customization as extensive as City of Heroes/Villains, and excellent gameplay but that is not likely to happen.

I forgot where I read it, but We are suppose to be able to remove stats from one piece of gear, and put it on another. anyone know what I'm talkin gabout, and can post a link?

We know you can change height, weight, hair style, hair color, eye style, eye color, face, two special customizations (tattoos and makeup, it looks like), skin color, and voice. Honestly, that's all I really need. The only thing I'm worrying about is how many of each we'll have to choose from (only five hair styles really defeats the purpose of customization, at least to the point of being completely unique).

Of course there's also armor customization. I think there's enough to keep you from running into two different people with the exact same character.

Don't forget the armour system. Being able to transfer the skin of one armour piece over to another stronger set is one of the ideas that Studio 5 is trying to put forth. So you can take a high level heavy armour that looks like the 2nd best heavy armour, for example.
