[Translation] Stigma

stigmas can only be obtained through NPCs that specialise in them.

These screenshots are from the 2nd CBT. These are 13 currently available stigma stones that enable you to equip certain types of equipments.

As long as any %weapon damage skills assassins have (if any) require certain weapon types (daggers/one hand swords) I'm happy... it would just be ridiculous to have them backstabbing at 250% weapon damage with a great sword.

My fighter is totally going to be wielding dual spellbooks. Yah BABY!

and less than three to Jam. (<3)

That's very interesting. I never got past the train scene in FF7, so I never got into Materia and stuff like that. This is a very promising game mechanic to me, nonetheless.

I was kinda hoping the armor ones would be removed... w/e though

as long as they keep a very solid reason for chars to use what they are supposed to, I don't want to see everyone in the game wearing plate and any for of physical dps just sucking because of it.

thx again jamie

I always thought that spell books should be 2 handed not 1 handed.

On a plus side the Stigma's do cost a lot of money and have a level restriction.
One way they could reduce the number of spell casters wearing the heaviest of armours. Is if they had it so that to wear the heaviest of armour. You need to be proficient in the use of all the armours lighter than the one that you want to use. Adding that many stigmas would leave you with no room for any other additions.

I'm not going to explain here again because I've done so in a number of other posts, but I really think people are overestimating how imbalanced a mage wearing plate can be... see my other posts for detailed explanations...

That said, I can't really see anyone downgrading armor... maybe if it made your attack speed faster as a fighter or something, but then you're still just turning yourself into a high offense, low defense berserker... good for group PvE where there's another tank I guess, but would be complete crap for PvP.

Let's wait until we get all skills of a class to know. Maybe you're going to get huge and awesome and w/e stats if you wear the class definded armor type.
At the moment we know, which stigmas we can use. But not what skills the character has (especially armor- and passive skills). I don't care if people cry "Armor stigmas are overpowerd. Nref plx!" until I have all facts and I can compare the WHOLE system to decide if it's overpowered or balanced.

I agree, this is just something that if they screw up, the game will suck. So im worried is all, not too worried but worried.

yep mages wearring plate are (supposdly ) powerfull, but what about warriors in plate using the dmg spell of a mage, healer using a bow etc etc

this system seem very intersting to me.. allow to customize a lot making it so you enver know i advance what you re target is capable off.

Well, if they screw up, NCsoft is always able to change it. Look at WoW. Blizzard did for every class a rework of skills due the feedback they got. I'm pretty sure NCsoft is capable of the same thing.

Yep, it was ugly, slow, and boring for a 3D RPG. I'd rather play Chrono Trigger over and over and over again. At least it was 2D and looked amazing.
