Heh i remember one time, in the crawlers nest. We were fighting beetles. This other group was there. This one guy kept getting so mad, and started talking about our mothers. He wasnt joking either he was 100% serious. Like we would get offened. He was horribly annoying though. Through out my entire FFXI career, i saw him many many more time. Looking for parties, and i always told people not to invite em cause he was a complete annoying ***. Reputation meant a lot in that game. Act like an ***, and eventually everyone will hate you.

Which was eventually yet another factor that allowed the game to form one of the best, if not the best community ever seen in a MMORPG. Because most people do care about their reputation.

Considering I've probably played more asian grinders or at least an amount similar to yours and I don't feel like that at all probably just puts us in two different categories. But maybe that's because I've also played others games where grinding wasn't as essential or way more interesting than in most games. Then again I've realized how pointless monotonous grinding was when I played my first asian grinder already named Ragnarok Online a long, long time ago.

haha, yeah, i think we're definately in two different categories, because i LOVE rangnarok online, it was only recently that i stopped playing. As much as i do love grinding, it does get sickening and make you wana vomit after a while, which is pretty much why i'm so excited for Aion

If you kill antharas at lvl 70-75 in a DD party without dying, you'll be getting close to a full lvl

Is grinding a slow levelling pace, or a hack and slash way of exping, find some mobs and kill them over and over until you level?

Aion I hope is easy leveling. I want to get right into pvp and I think that maybe others agree with me. They want to pvp. They want to have the feeling of accomplishment when you're standing over the corpse of a hard enemy. This is why I can't wait for it to come out... Killing heroes solo as a regular guy would be super fun, being at a disadvantage in pvp makes it so much sweeter imo. Being a hero killing two heroes at once would be even sweeter.

It would and WILL be epic, but plan to have me being the last thing you see standing over you if you plan on going hero vs hero ^.~

I find that I can kill staggering amounts of pointless mobs as long as it is towards some sort of easily recognizable goal. Usually that would be a quest, like "Find 3 Mushroom Heads" but not every mushroom drops a head for some dumb reason, so you end up grinding without realizing it.

If I DO realize it, and am killing monsters for no worthwhile reason other than to level, then I cant stand it for long.

I don't know...yes and no ? HArdcore grinding in MMO is extrenly bad i think...and I hope Aion grind will be right in the middle of WoW and Lineage 2....let me explain why.

I used to play lineage 2, started while it was still in beta stage, till now. When we all started playing it was fine, There was alot of people to level with and PvP would happen alot. Most of the population grown together in regard of level. Sure sometime you would meet high level player that you couldn't beat, but it was cool. Now that the game been out for a while, most of the older people on the server are almost all top level with top gear and alot have left the game....so now it is nearly impossible for new player to catch up and actually PvP or get into high end clan, unless they bot 24/24 or have no life (why do you think there is so much bot/adena buyer in this game ?). So basicly a legit player that go the store buy Lineage and start playing will have to go threw month and mouth AND month of grinding just to..maybe PvP once in a while and have some fun ? This is killing the game, no wonder some server are dead..or full of bot! Anyway, I think hardcore grinding = bad health for a MMO!

ps : sorry my english is crap, lol

The thing is, you're much more likely to find competent people if grouping is forced. There is no guarantee that your average fresh L70 in WoW knows anything whatsoever about his own class, let alone the other classes. Compare that to FFXI where, especially in the old days, you could pretty much count on a highly competent party if you were L60 or higher.

Any monkey can level up in WoW by spamming one attack, try that in FFXI and you'll just end up ruining your reputation and will find it increasingly difficult to find anyone who will accept you into their party.

Of course WoW has the holy grail of leveling, questing, which I actually do not like. I completely fail to see how masking the grind behind "unique" quests makes the process any more interesting. It's still a solo activity and solo just plain sucks in MMOs. These games don't have the gameplay to compete with actual single player games when playing alone, so it becomes really monotonous and repetitive, quests or no quests.
