I knew AoC would be bad just because of the title. Thats why I know Aion will be good.

There you people go with the assumptions that you know what people want. IF I only had 30min of game time a week id rather spend it online in an MMO of my choice than playing a console game or some 1 player game. Im not going to care about what everyone else is gaining but I would want to be able to acomplish something. I dont thin id enjoy logging in for my 30min to see kill 5000 boars. and end my day at 1000 boars and only gain .4% exp. Therefore I would quit that game and play something more casual friendly and give that company my money. Thats why games with huge grinds dont do well and end up overflowing with bots/power leveling services or Private Servers.
Hi there! well i agree with you in some extent. I'm not saying, that by only be playing (and sorry for the generalization) 30 minutes, you shouldn't be able to progress in a MMORPG, not at all. I'm just saying, that if you only have 30 minutes to play an MMORPG per day, dont expect to reach the same level of power of someone who has 4x times more than you. Of Course you will be powerful and shiny, however it might take much more time than the other player.

I really dislike the type of player that wants everything offered to him in silver plate, just because he pays 13 euros per month, doesnt mean he is able to get everything offered, without the same level of effort has the other player who invests more time and effort into the game.

And yes, 30 minutes of grinding for something like 0.4% exp is atrocious, the only thing somewhat recent i recall like that is Archlord (and i couldn't pass lvl 26 because of the grinding). Aion will not be like that, even in your final level, if you spent 30 minutes killings monsters it should give about 0.1-9% percentage (and i assume that's in the final levels).

PS: And look, extra-time is relative, i normally after work have 5-6 hours per day to day what i feel like it, if i wanna play it, so be it, if i wanna go to beach, if i wanna go shopping, its up to me, that's why MMORPG's reflect your power trough the time you invest in them. It's your choice to play 30 minutes or more per day. Unless you have very strict real life limitations. But, hey, that's not the rest of the players fault. i don't know if you understand what i'm trying to say.

Btw: English is not my main language, so pardon the errors.

i dont think anyone in the world actually likes grinding, i think the only reason some might say they do is because they like to read books/websites/pay bills etc while they grind lol, not because its actually fun :P

too me theres a difference between "grinding" adn "grinding"... ok not when i type it btu there is... theres the grinding thats first to coem to most peoples mind adn thats the slaughter of teh same mob for hours(more or less) to get very little exp. then theres the grinding where your still slaughtering the same mob for hours (more or less) to get very little exp, but your in a group adn you talking about the last raid or maybe an upcomeing one. so really grinding is all in mind set "i HAVE to kill all these things to lvl up" or "Im talkign to my friends adn haveign a good time... oh and im also killign these things"

i dotn knwo if what i said makes any sence but: grinding=mind set

plaus theres always quests that require to to lightly grind so thats a compromise

Not to me...To me grinding is 1 thing and farming is another, but people mix up the 2.

In my eyes, Grinding - Hack and Slash to kill mobs with no real purpose other than experience...it could take you a year to level up, or 5 minutes, it doesnt matter.

Farming - is the repetetive slaughter, or repetition of anything in game which could take hours or days to do...having to slaughter the same mobs for hours is farming whether you do it in a grinding manor or not.

I like to enjoy and play the game with a bit of grinding but not, kill the same mob 500 times just to get 1 "bubble" of experience. Then it's just a insanely huge time sink that gets boring fast.

true, there are many deffinitions out there for everything adn everyone uses a different one, there should be like a dictonary or something, i bet there is somewhere, lol
its funny to think aotu it tho cuz your farming is my grinding(wheather it be the good grinding or bad grinding); your grinding is my lvling(acualy now that i think about it what i described as "bad grinding" i usualy call lvling), and my farming is killign mobs for a specific item(such as pots)

If I am talking with a friend, and enjoy the game I'm playing, I don't mind grinding at all really..

Grinding in a way is a very effective way in learning not only how to play the game, but to enhance your skills. Questing is very fun, and most of the time you find yourself grinding on your way to the next quest. So in a way we constantly grind anyway. But, I have to agree with most of the comments said. Grinding all the time gets borning really fast, expecially for the caster classes that lose their "mana" fast.

As for this comment,

If anything I would think grinding what actually make noobs better, because it allows to explore their character instead of jumping into quests?

I agree with the last bit from Ael's post. That's why i don't like grinding. It takes no skill at all to max a character.

but if its a little kid (wich everyoen thinks are the ones who only grind -__) grinding might up their paitence. and im nto disagreeing wiht you grinding can be mindless btu quests are only a few steps up (dependign on the quest)
