I really enjoy grinding, especially if I've got something to look forward to. Usually I take it in sections though. Like, "I'll kill 200 of these, then go do 100 of those and come back to 150 of these," etc... I don't like it to stay the same, but I prefer it over running back to town over and over for quests. As long as I get decent rewards from the enemies I kill, I can grind all day.

I prefer quests to grinding. I don't want leveling to be too fast though. But if you end up being forced to grind to lvl, the game does not have enough content.

That said, I think Aion should have enough quest to lvl to 50, BUT i wouldn't mind too much if this weren't the because Aion is a PvP game in which PvPing gives good XP.

You said that...then you said you didn't want to play with 13 year olds that are your level, like in WoW. Unfortunately, it seems you want to have your cake and eat it too. The 13 year olds are your level because they have the same dedication to the game as you do; which suffice to say isn't much. Hopefully Aion will weed out this type of gamer. Grinding is a necessary element to any MMO, without it you have a quick trip to the top, followed by either raiding, creating an alt, or quitting the game. Simple as that.

My personal opinion? Grinding can have it's up's and down's, while it can become tedious, it is at the same time relaxing and helps to improve relations within the community.
Proof? Look at the community within EQ2 in comparison to FFXI. Solo/Quest vs Group Grinding, no contest. I can play my playstation if I want to play alone, this is an MMO.

Grinding with clan mates that can make you laugh is definitely not bad. I've had some pretty awesome grind-sessions, but when there's nobody interesting to talk to I just won't do it.

I have nothing against grinding, if it's worth something. Not only XP, it should be some sort of good reward. If there is an item that you want to create then there should be grinding..well ofc it will be, but I hope it wont get to hard..like if im going to do a lvl 20 item and it takes 10 hours to get the stuff, then it's just a bit too much really :P

But like I said there is nothing wrong with some grinding now and then

I don't think it should even be a debate. A game should NOT lack things for you to do. You should be able to quest your way to the level cap.

But that said, NOTHING keeps you from grinding instead of question.

The point is that you should never be forced to grind. It's not even a matter of liking it or not, a game should just offer options.

Its not L2's grind that kill the game, its the length of the grind.

Look at x5 or x7 private servers, legit they can still take 2-3 months to hit the lvl cap, its still a grind, but its more enjoyable when it doesnt take a year, and after hours of playing you see 1% exp gain.

Grinding can be great fun if the monsters are smart and a challenge to kill and give a load of exp when u kill them. When i grind i usually go for elites simply cuz its a challenge and the exp turn out is grter. But the chance of dying cuz ur alone is pretty high too. But its so much better than some regular mob that just hits u over and over with no flash. Thats why regular grinding is boring. The best grind is always something that gives decent exp, relatively easy to kill and there is lots of. So grind can get boring and quests give u the chance to go after that target's head or get kill someone and rescue someone else. More interesting is all...

No monsters will look smart or challenging when you have to kill them during several hours.

I don't mind grinding. In some cases I even like it as I find it very relaxing. Put on good music, a good coffee or beer and just relax.

Oh, and to the OP, Aion's leveling will only be a little harder than WoW.

Thank goodness too, playing EQ2 right now and I hear it's a lot like WoW's leveling and I don't even feel like I deserve to level, in fact I've been frustrated at how fast I've been going. I don't have time to do half of my quests before they turn grey.. ; ;

I dont like grinding at all Game should be fun and challenging, there shouldnt be a need for repetetive killing of the same mobs over and over again, it kills the fun the tbh.

I dont mind grinding aslong as the mobs are not the same everywhere.

I hate games who have the same mob in different colors, strength, level etc.
I want variaty in the mobs, how they act.. etc.

people are comparing aion to FFX1's when it comes to grinding.

from what im hearing you couldnt do anything w/o a group of people. i personally find this a stupid and non ideal system.

i want there to be just as much Solo play as their is Group play. W/ a guild you can have your group and solo fun all at the same time.
