Classes?
Is there any confirmation on what classes would be available for the 2 factions? Im sure they'll both get all the general basic classes, but will anything "faction specific" be available?
So far from all the vids ive seen a lot of classes that resemble that of the ones from Lineage 2 (and i saw a rogue type character which used stealth like rogues do in WoW) and this being a NC Soft developed game I can see where there getting that influence (from lineage) has anyone else noticed this? So far the game looks incredible and im glad they've moved away from the standard click to move (they finally figured out where WASD is on the keyboard) like most korean MMO's and they've taken a big step away from the insane mob grind that is L2 (even though the pvp in that game is unmatched by any other MMO out to date imo) which I thought this game was going to be. I've just seen so many videos I want to know what im actually watching when I see characters doing pvp/e. I mean yeah you can make out the basic stuff like warriors, damage dealers melee/ranged/caster and some support classes but I want to know what the names are, skill trees all sorts of sh!t like that. I DO hope the game has a balanced amount of pvp and pve like instance and boss raids (something like what Blizzard did with WoW) Maybe some kind of battleground/castle siege action Nothing beats straight up world PvP though So yes you can fly but in the interview videos with the senior designer, he mentions its not so much a means to get around because the flight time is limited, its mainly for combat. Thats fine, that adds something completely new and diffrent to my MMO gaming experience I dont know about other people but.. will there be some kind of seperate mount system for getting around if thats the case? ...i think thats it for right now. Ive searched for all this information and could not find anything. |

Yep no mounts. You still have flight routes, where the computer take control of your character and fly you to your destination.

Aww no mounts :/ Anyone know if their are pets besides summons? I dont really mind if not, but sometimes it adds something else to do in the game. |

I don't think there are any kind of pets in the game (I bet they will be added later on - but only for the fun of it, not attacking/mounting like L2). Also, the Auto pilot system is taken from WoW, I really nice visual feature if you ask me
( I always enjoyed the WoW rides) As for the rest.. I just don't know enough to give some good answers... |

I can do without pets. Just curious. I am sure at first the controlled flying will be nice, get to see the enviroment, but knowing some quests you'll have to go from city to city
and views get old. ^.^ |

Ive been playing WoW since the day it came out, the flight paths were cool like the first or second time you did it, after that it gets old....really really old, they are to long and take up to much time from actually "playing" the game, i.e. leveling your character/pvping/proffesion leveling (which shuld be allowed while in flight imo)
This is not something that should be "borrowed" at all. Lineage 2 town to town/area instant teleporting is FTW. If you need to get somewhere, you can get there and fast. Asking for that is not being greedy at all. Other games have had it besides lineage 2, for example the Asherons Call series. This is an MMO people, its already going to take a lot of your time, why have a feature that takes away even more from your day. Instead of flying, you could be leveling or doing something more productive in game. I can see how flight paths can benefit the more casual player, even someone more hardcore. Getting on a flight path gives you an opportunity to maybe tab out and look something up, go get a drink, bio break so if thats the case why not have the flight path be "cost free" for those who wish to take there time to get somewhere and use a instant porting service with a "cost" for those who wish to get somewhere quick. all in all i still think flight paths are a bad idea. teleports rule all in the MMO world. Heh well transportation in FFXI was over the top imo, I do think they have shortened the time when I played this summer it didn't seem to take as long. But I remember having to wait an eternity for the freakin' ferry, and then having to wait another eternity to get where I was going..... ugh.. As much as I love FF I don't have the luxury of wasting THAT much time on just getting somewhere.
What I do agree on is that this type of transportation is more immersive, just don't make it so darn long ^_^ I guess there's going to be both click to move and wasd so use what you like best. No mounts and no pets so far unless you're an elementalist. There's lots of new info regarding castles and the Abyss, RvR sounds like fun. I can't believe I just said that We need new info on the classes, I heartily agree! He he. |

i used to use that time to "grind" languages ( read learn how to speack othere languages ingame) but either way any type of long time transport should have the option to be skiped. |

Classes and sub classes
I've never played Lineage 2.
My MMO experience is in EQ1, EQ2, and Vanguard (rest in peace). So my classes' opinion is based on those games. I think there will be the standard 4 classes to cover most players. There has been psychological studies done on what type of classes a player prefers based on their personalities. For example: - Tank is a defensive classes that tends to lead. (leadership personality) - Scout is the damage-per-second (DPS) tends to explore and want to do everything (over achiever) - Caster (soloist) - Healer is always needed by a group. (social) Above, is a summary so don't comment fan-bois! EQ2 did something different with the classes line that I liked. Through achievement points, a player can add a sub-class. For example, a player has a tank class. Spending achievement points, the tank can purchase additional abilities/spells to become either more defensive (tank/tank) or damage (tank/dps) or healer (tank/healer) or caster (tank/spells). Just a suggestion to add something similar to AION. |
