The Aion summoner definitely has to be the coolest summoning class I've seen in any MMO. He actually looks quite bad *** while he's casting his summons. =) Which is saying something cause I usually hate playing "tough as paper" classes, I like being able to take a hit. But Summoner does look quite appetizing... I just may lean that way... but before I make my decision I must see what the Asmodian classes are gonna wind up being ^_^

Was actually one of the classes i was looking for specially, becouse it would not be the first time i play a summoner on a nc game. I do like it, but it kinnda depend of another stuffs, like if there will be a transfer pain skill, becouse usually summoners use somekind of light armor (to get both defence and a decent cast speed), or even robes (what meas a lot of cast speed to heal your summon but no defense). Kill the summoner and summon become useless.
But i liked one thing on this summoner, it's pretty nice to see it will be able to summon different types of monster with unique skill and for different purposes. Buti still need to know how will be the skill system and what are the restrictions to summon anything. I.e.: do i need to have water somwhere close to me to summon a whater summon (looks pretty much like it's supposed to be).

But I'm gonna take a guess there will be some cool quest lines for summoners to complete at different levels to get their elements... and to tier them up . |

Actuallythey said SMs would be better in pvp back in the family beta only 3 out of 100 were SMs and cause of the lack of info on spells they were not able to effectivly use them. Most of the SMs spells unless they have changed them did dot which made it appear they were not doing alot of dammage when in fact they were excuse the wow example now but most popular mmo now the warlock is similar to how the SM would go dots pets and some direct damage spells. Ofcourse all this could change in the future but so far thats what you get from the info.

From what I remember though the lack of damage stemmed from people not knowing how to play the class, rather than from some flaw in how the class was designed. Once people started playing them correctly I pretty sure they found that they were doing too much damage. Again, I might be remembering incorrectly, but I'm pretty sure this was the case.

![]() On Topic: I don't really like the SM because it will just end up like other summoning classes in other games which is either overpowerered, main healer with, or exclusive to taking down bosses. In CoH the summoning class(controller) either fire or illusion are both overpowered. A lvl 38+ illusion/radiation or fire/kinetics could solo most missions on "hard mode" with ease while other classes would get owned. A fire/kinetics is even used to PL people to max in a couple of days. A Illusions/radiation emissions could solo nearly any Archvillain with hardly any trouble. In FFXI all I did was main heal when a whm wasn't available or used fenrir for his buffs then called him back when he wasn't needed. I hope that in Aion all of the summons will be used but I think it will be unlikley since you will only need the water and earth summons for pve lvling and you will most likley be using your DoTs in organized pvp unless the fire and wind summon's dps is high. I guess it doesn't matter what I think since I will be rolling a priest on asmodian and elyos side . |
