Indeed but then again. Nothing is stopping A NA to from logging into EU

We'll see about that. Even though I personally doubt you would be able to, since it wouldn't make much sense making those separated servers then in the first place.
And actually, one of the issues most of previous MMO's I've played was the timezone problem - people often couldn't show up cause they worked/had to sleep.

I'm just going by expirence. I've never seen an mmo specifically "force" an EU on a eu server or a NA on a NA server. Yeah its dumb, because of lag and what not, but it happens when a EU wnats to place with his NA friends.

They could make a special lag/time server problem wanting people server for that. xD

WoW did this, to an extent. THey only sold the "EU version" of WoW in Europe. The servers linked to this verison were all EU. Peopel with teh "US verison" of the game could not get on EU servers and EU players could not get on the US servers or Oceanic servers. (Oceanic servers were all in the US, but had little tab that said Oceanic time zone)

I don't think they should separate us out by region. I like how in FFXI I could put something on auction before bed and by the time I woke up some Japanese player would have bought it during their primetime.

The only issue is that whole language thing. But not really, everyone in Europe and Asia is taught English anyway. And on top of that, MMO chat logs are mostly jargon and acronyms, which is like a whole new language that even English people have to learn.

I just want people to buy my stuff while I sleep.

That was one of the good sides, though I'd be okay if stuff sells at daytime at double speed as it did in FFXI, while at the night it's decreased... wouldn't really change much. By the way, japanese people aint speak english that much. The whole timezone problem made it much harder for people to interact with each other. I just don't like to meet someone friendly and then can't play with that person much. If you see at guilds from that point of view it just sucks and that what happened to alot of people in FFXI.
A certain NA guy and a japanese girl were the ones I've played the most with... that's why I think I can appraise that.

Japanese have their own different way... about that jargon and acronyms in their own language. The time I've played FFXI most of japanese people weren't actually able to speak proper english. Some could speak very broken and very few were at my level. Alot of them also didn't want to speak english though, cause they didn't want to get involved with NA people at all.

5,000 Limit seems fine per server. I'm sure as the game grows they'll add more servers, it'd be stupid if they only had 5 servers, so 25,000 people, when 50,000 peple are trying to play the game.

Hopefully they will try to balance out the servers with free character moves from high population to low population as well if it came to be a problem. NCSoft didnt seem too fond of character transfers with Lineage II.

With CT1 they are adding this and ,I believe, name change and/or gender change as paid services.

But with Aion if the servers get full, they will likely make more...if they become empty they will probably combine them.

it would be great to have both eu/aussie/asia/na all on the same server, well populated at all times, especially since there are 24/7 sieges, perhaps it will also make cooperation with other parts of the world, where l2 seems to promote racism in its own weird way, lol

Better late than never I suppose. They mentioned server transfers back in the first chronicle and its always been a no-discussion issue ever since lol.

server transfers are the stupidest idea ever...

The best part about starting a new MMO is when its brand new, theres no economy, no items, everyone starts from scratch and has a race to the top. When a new server opens in L2 people want a fresh start, maybe their clan didnt go as planned on the previous server, they dont like their class anymore or they want to start with better organization (reffered to as butthurt failures of another server), so they get a start from scratch...and its the most fun you have in a game.

Server transfers ruin that, a new opening server can give even an older game a new feel, and give lots of people fun, but if you transfer high level chars to a new server you destroy all that and make the new server no different than any others.

I understand that starting from scratch again is nice and fun, but when you'll hit max lvl, and realize that your server is EMPTY, that sux, clearly.

Well you should be able to move to another populated server, but a new one should have to be out for a certain period of time before anyone can transfer
