hmm? combat system?
Sometimes you might ask yourself, when Aion comes out, will it be like WoW's current system? that you "target" a player, hop around, use special skills now and then, or will it be like a first person shooter game, or Conan, that you have to personally "target" the person and then "attack and hit" due to your personal accuracy and luck instead of the game system to calculate when you miss and critical hit?
This all seems like possibilities to me, but I hope for the latter one =)

if you want that system go play oblivion.
that would course too much stress on the server is would have too calculate your location your and the operant location your weapon and the operant weapon and distance. why do you think games like counterstrike use 3 times as much bandwith

As far as my eyes could see on some of the PvE/PvP movies there was an info "miss" or "dodge" when attacking, add the information that some bonuses will be calculated based on your and the enemies posiotions to each other + going ariborne within the fight (modifiers too?) + the bunny hop and most propably many things we haven't yet heard about and you'll end up with a system in Aion.
Still not going to be as dynamic (as for the ground combat) as in DDO i guess. |

Fail.
Loling at this post. Aions combat will be skill chain based (I've heard some people mention FFXI) In other words one skill will logically lead to another one...Sorta like Guild Wars to a point I suppose.

Well it seems it will be similar to WoW but Aion will add some components of all the other mmorpg's currently out there. The skill-chain system should be similar to EQ2 while the combat itself is more WoW oriented, well that depends if you choose WASD or point and click way of playing. One things for sure, no one knows the answer as I am sure there isn't anyone who tried Aion out(here). It's still in Closed Beta phase, a lot of things can still be changed/modified.

And those are all the FFXI weapon skills....everytime I hear the word FFXI I get...homesick...gamesick? I'd kill for Aion to have the exact same battle system...(I really just might)... Depending on the combination of which skills people use at a time, a skillchain occurs, which is like a brand new weapon skill. In Kreator's video, Asuran's Fists combined with the other guy's Dragon Kick, making a light combination skillchain, which the skeleton was weak to.

what I think of this game since it's on ncsoft... that will be exactly or at least 80% lookalike LineAge2extremly good looky hard to advance and pretty much fun to play but in the end you still have that rpg effect in your face! but still ive been playing 2 years at LineAge2 and 1 year in LineAge and im at my 2 year of WoW cant wait to check on over that AION mastering effect, as seen in the combat video the spells effect are gona be massivly better looking instead of that WoW effect you see fire in the hand of the guy throwing something ugly looking like a bag of fire..... I'm very thankfull to the compagny to make better looking spells an effect really gives another world to the game!

l2 imo is the most beautiful looking game out there (i prefer its graphics/engine style even over aion...even though the game is coded like some guy did it in his basement over a weekend).
But theres tons of info on these forums, aion progression and combat will be nothing like L2...from the looks of it, it will take 3-4 months to hit the level cap, which is about perfect for me...after a year you will have mastered everything and done all the end game, which is a perfect time.
