Will the EURO community stay or go
Well I see a ton of Euro players on these forums and in guilds right now so I was just wondering will you guys just play the US version casually to get a feel for the game and then once the EU version is out jump ship there and stay there
I dont know how it will work on NC Softs part but I know 2 moons US had to ban future ips of EU players after a few months when the EU license was picked up so we will get no more EU players but the old ones can stay but most times alot of the old EU players dont want to stay cause on 2moons they cant invite there other EU players now what are your thoughts also I think NC Soft needs to be clear from the begining on if they will be not allowing EU ips on the US servers after some time cause it would be bad if a EU player made a account and then was no longer allowed to play it cause the EU version is out and they want him to play there

Since Aion is probably going to be released globally at the same time, that won't be a problem.
If it's by any chance not going to be released at the same time, I would just wait and not risk anything I could regret. Also... I hate being in too different time zones, so the option you mentioned would be negated for me anyway.

I'm not a fan of race-restricted servers or country-restricted servers, whatever. One thing I loved about FFXI was our teamwork even when we didn't understand each other, lol. Auto-translation, and emotes worked well.

IF the game is going to be released in the US to begin with, i think ill start playing there. to get the feel for the game and learn the basics. get used to it really.
that means if the game is later released in EU i will definitely move over to those servers. im from sweden so it would be to much of a time difference to enjoy the full potential of the game when it comes to meeting other players etc. i do however think as Endrance do, that it will be released globally. this got me thinking though. is it going to be released earlier in korea since the beta already is up and running there? or is it just the beta?

For me in FFXI, different timezones were a huge problem. I don't want something like this to be happening again. So I'm totally fine with seperated servers, even though I enjoyed most of the conversations I've had with japanese people... my personal experience with NA's was rather rude and I also know that alot of japanese people didn't play much with NA's cause they felt the same way (a rather acquainted japanese player told me, that as soon as NA players got into their servers, they tried to help them and stuff, but most of NA people were acting a way they couldn't accept - being greedy, *****ing around in an exorbitant manner etc.). Though I don't want this thread to turn into a topic full of flame, it was just my personal experience and maybe most of them were like that just on my server (Lakshmi).
@Creed: In Korea Aion is currently in a closed beta status. As soon as the game is released globally (about April/May probably) an open beta will start for everyone and probably end for everyone at the same time.

In MMOs that had alot of european players, I noticed that alot europeans tend to speak their own language and alot of them are incappable of at least not speaking completely broken english. Almost the way it was in FFXI about the ENG/JP thing (FFXI fortunately had an auto-translator which helped alot in the end). Oh well, I guess I just evoked what I originally wanted to avoid. Fail.

Ah c'mon...that's one of FFXI's amazing attractive qualities. I loved knowing the time period the japanese would start to appear, like, "I hope this guy pops soon, otherwise <insert japanese linkshell> will show up in a little while". And I agree, most of my experience with other nationalities was amazing, but most of them with NA people made me just miserable. Most were slow, stupid, and, ugh...(I'm american). The auto-translation system was done very well, surprisingly, and using broken english and emotes worked well also. I dunno, it just makes it more entertaining.

i played knight online where the game became 90% turkish and all they did was spam in turkish and curse us US players out in turkish....it was a US game and the game makers never cared cause the turkish paid there way in the servers were 1st 80 were free to get in...the other 20% had to have premium monthly service and guess what...when all turks logged in at there wake up time no US player could get in without paying for a f2p game lol kinda bs when the US version US players cant get in for free while the cheating turkish community gets in for free i know what he means but EU's as in all but turkey i have been around are usually very nice...most of turkey isnt in EU but there is a part that is if the turks invade expect Aion to get ****ed....thats a fact i based on knight online, wow, silkroad, and a few other games.....turkish community has the best dupes.....chinese own the best macros lol PS. not all turks btw....i met alot that were great....as well as other races have great people too....just from what i have seen the majority of the turkish community beats out any other country for hacks and dupes

Ok so what will different versions and stuff mean for australians?
I am not sure I like the idea of having localized servers or whatever it is called. I thought it was cool meeting all different sorts of people in FFXI. Even if they were japanese or american. I was nice to people in general. Granted the language barrier made it hard sometimes to communicate with the Japanese people. And I don't think the american players were as bad as you seem to say. I mean sure there were often a fair few shockers. But I had 2 very wonderful Linkshells with many people I liked. Anyway back to my question. I am australian so if they do have localised servers will I have to play on the US or the European servers? Guild Wars originally had seperate servers but now they have merged them. Personally I would rather play on the american servers just because there are more people who speak english on them though. |
