New Skin: IE workaround

For those of you having problems with IE in the new skin, what you can do is this. Right click on the feature you want to use that is currently not working (such as EDIT) and choose either open in new window or open in new tab.

You will then be able to perform the function in the new window. It just won't work pressing the button in the same window.

or don't if you are in a work environment, and use the work around.

... and what would this particularly apply to? Otherwise, I wouldn't be experiencing too many problems because opening tabs has already become a major habit when browsing the internet.

EDIT seems to be the biggest malfunction.

IE->recycle byn, did that 2 years ago, never had a problem anymore.

unfortunately, thats just not a realistic option for someone in my industry (web application development)... IE is still the dominant browser (not by much, but still on top), and you would literally be shooting yourself in the foot if you didnt design sites/applications that worked similarly in IE and FF...

Those of us at work can't download new applications like FireFox onto company computers.

We are all well aware by now that IE is on top cause people doesnt bother downloading another internet browser, unless they are asked to, and there are some kind of enviroments where people are meant to be advanced into this stuff, PC gaming community being one of those enviroments. So making IE proof websites isn't really that convenient right now.

And Fayeth, i'm sure you can ask kindly to the network administrator to get you firefox, I convinced the whole office I used to work in to start using it ^^

I don't know how to fix whatever wrong with this skin. It's not like I didn't design for Internet Explorer. I did! AionSource.com looks the same in both browsers, but for some reason it doesn't work the same. I don't know why, and until I do I can't fix it.

Is there a way to have Aion automatically open in the old Skin? (old skin being the one used a couple weeks ago etc)

If this is a easy/stupid question forgive me, I didn't put too, too much time into trying to figure it out... and I'm on safari (dunno if that makes a difference since people seem to be talkin about IE)

Yes, in your User CP go to Options and select a different skin than default and save. You'll have to be logged in/cookied for it to work all the time. You'll see the new skin if you log out/aren't logged in.

well, sure... if your intended audience is more "savvy" then you can account for that in your design... and specifically if you know you're site isnt intended to generate revenue (your family photo album, or blog, or gaming fan site, etc.), then you can completely blow off the other browsers, and design specifically for the one you personally prefer... i do that myself on a few sites...

but i was referring to sites from a professional development perspective, and 10/10 times, your client will not be "ok" with the site only working in one browser or the other... *shrugs*
