AION featured in "PC Gamer's Hottest Games of 2008"

Age of Conan, Assassin's Creed... hopefully it shouldn't be a surprise that AION is featured in the list, too!

It's mentioned briefly in the CVG (yes, the renowned PC Gamer magazine) article, but it is a sign that Aion is finally receiving the publicity it deserves.

correct me if i'm wrong but i thought the game engine is the old cry engine that was used for Far Cry1. Tell you the truth if this game uses new cry engine then non of you will be playing this game.. sure is nice to see AION making the list.

That's correct, and a lot of media seems to be confused about this (MMORPG.com recently got it wrong too) >_>.

Hey, I was just quoting them. Technically, they didn't specifically say which engine it was. They said the technology was used in Crysis. It isn't 100% correct, but they both came from CryTek. Although they had two different kind of engines released, it is acceptible. Then again, they're a large company -- it'd be difficult to catch the little details on a game that hasn't had much info in the US.

yes thats totally ok, as long as the game makes the list we are ok. now only if the PC Gamer magazine would see this game like they see Guild Wars it will be a wowzer... that means free item codes in the mag close to the release date of the game.

Come on. This coming from a magazine like PC Gamer? Why couldn't they at least take the 20 minutes or so it would take to actually research the game. They have pretty much no idea what they are talking about. Here come all of the "zomg Diablo 2 angelz v deamonz! Heaven vs. Hell!!!!"..

Oh, and lets not forget the Asmodian's fluffy wings.

Terrible.

Gotta love the ignorant views of the general public... they make Aion sound like it's some sort of super-graphics Diablo MMO.

Oh well, the publicity is nice.

Looks like they checked plaync US site and that's about it, if no one sent them info and they don't know about aiononline.com they can't really be blamed... And I don't expect them to have any time to devote to lurking fan sites.

Good point but they could at least put more effort into it. I mean it looks like they're describing a screenshot. wings, angels, demons, heaven and hell.

Well, let's sum up what we've learned so far:

1. Aion is gaining popularity rapidly, as shown by its featuring in PC Gamer.
2. Press is not fully educated about small details of Aion.
3. Chances are they haven't done their homework before making the article.

Then again, we could be optimistic and focus on number 1.
