Designing your Character
Sorry for bringing probably another useless thread to the forums but hear me out, if you would.
So! You get Aion all nice and shiney in it's Collector's Edition box. You whip out the disc and install it as fast as you can. Register, patch, log in ect ect. We all know the drill. You are at the Character Creation screen to make your avatar, your hero, your tiny piece of the game. You choose a side, Elyos or Asmodian. Now... to make your character.... Here's my question and the point to this thread: Do you make the character that you think looks the best and maybe name it the same thing you do all your characters? Or... Do you make, say, a mage and then design your characters appearance to make it more mage-like. Longer hair, finer features. Or a warrior, shorter rougher hair and a more determined face and colors. And add a name that fits to the class and is a true name? Not say, Sexi, or Tuffboi. MAIN POINT: Do you make your characters with the class or other characteristics in mind or do you just go with what you think looks best? Thank you for taking the time to read and reply, and for satisfying my curiosity.

I generally just customize a character to what appears good to me no matter what job I plan on having it. Of course I wouldn't go extreme and make like a huge buffed up ohmahgah character play a casting job. I've had enough of galka red mages in ffxi.

For some reason this seems like it's been asked before, but in a different way. Not sure though, so I'll answer anyway.
For me, it really depends on what mood I'm in. I used to be a pretty dedicated writer (I still go back to it every now and then) so my characters actually have to speak to me, have some sort of symbolism that I feel is right. I don't roleplay or anything-- but at character creation, I do think of a character's background and circumstances. So I would be the type to make a warrior that's somewhat gentler looking (for that crazed, bipolar effect) but I'd also make a healer look soft and harmless on the same day. Likewise, I could make a mage that looks mage-like, but then turn around and make a ranger look more like a warrior. So it's a coin toss. On the subject of names, though, I don't do the underscore/numbers at the end thing. I always give an actual name-- if the name I want is taken, I modify it slightly (Azraelle instead of Azrael, for example) or choose a new one. |

I usually make a pet-based class first if there is one, spiritmaster in this case. As for features, I go with what looks nice, usually long hair, slanted eyes, and skin color/hair color that compliment one another. Names though; oih! I'm not so imaginative, so I use this forum name quite often, though I used other things like "Cynthia Trueshot" in games that required first and last.

I create the character to look best for me. For the names: I usually use names that can be used by both genders.

I go with a character of my gender that looks good to me so its easier to identify with. And they are always named Fayeth. Alts are always Cortessia.
Although depending on the game, ie if the races have a strong back story.. i stick to storyline instead of using the full customization.. for example.. My Blood Elf on wow was given that very very blonde hair.. normally i hate blonde hair on a character BUT in wow lore all blood elfs had blood hair and making one with a different color seemed almost like a crime to the lore.

When I make a character in a game, I go for usually my gender, and if its a warrior type, its name is either Vardemis or Malagen, if its an assassin or rogue type I've named it Aurelian but that name works for a magic using class too.
Then on to creating the character himself! I tend to make my warriors tall and muscled 'cause I think they should all be big and ready to give the business, but my assassin types I scale them down proportionately. My warriors tend to have short to medium hair so it does not stick out of a helmet if I wear one, and sometimes my assassin types get medium to longer hair to show more finesse

![]() As for me, I usually adapt the looks and the name for the class. If it's a mage, I create a more finer and wise-guy looking character. But even if I want the name to sound "magic-like", I always go for simple, easy to read and type names, since I have to communicate with other players. And we all know that it sucks when you have a clannie named Humunukunukuapuah. If you don't feel inspired, here's a site that could help you creating a name. Seventh Sanctum

I usually go first off with the HAIR on my character that i create, the hair is like 90% of everything to me, in 90% of the times i pick the kind of "evil" looking faction and if there isn't any of those i make an cold looking face cause he like kills people, to make it more realistic to me. I suck with names and usually make up some gibberish that pops up my head like Sokaria or Cripling or Nogger or whatever. But i tend to make the character match my personal taste instead of making it look more like the class.
(It will look like the class anyways when you wear the armor anyways) |

I would customize character on what i think looks the most appealing to me, because wats the point in making a mage, mage-like and then u find out he dont look good which can tempt u into creatin a new character
