Endgame takes on real life!
After learning more and more about Aion i can only express my one and only fear...
I began WoW at day one and only stopped couple months ago due to a change of my class times. I was always endgame pushing in WoW and enjoyed it when i was there everytime during our schedule. 7-12..and night classes go from 6-10, i missed invites and missed the raids and began to do NOTHING other then spend my thousands of gold and walk around hoping for someone to leave. I play MMO's for PvE, hands down. So the PvP did not intereset me as much as PvE did. I could not see my self devoting as much time to PvP as i did PvE. So that wasent an option. I got bored and sold my character to a guildie and moved on. I was very very close to most guild members and hated to up and leave such a close community of players. I was a officer and a leader to everyone. Yes real life OBVIOSULY takes priority (most of the time ) but when there is nothing else in end game besides.."getting and invite and progressing towards gear items" "Or soloing at max level for no reason" iterest kind of drops considerably.I hope Aions endgame isnt as much of a need, instance wise as WoW...where you feel you have to sacrifice so much to progress. I know i know...Hardcore vs Casual...and i asssure you i was a casual gamer. I just enjoyed completing armor sets and getting the sickest daggers possible . Judging by the articles, i see the raid limit is smaller and not as many instances as wow. I like heir approach to not ove rload with instances and huge raid encounters. I still feel a party of 5-10 is the best. Hope you all understand my concern, i tend to ramble!! -Gallystops- |

Sorry bud, but I think Aion might be like that. I don't like it either.
They're modeling Aion after WoW. It's about PvP, they've stated that's where you'll get the real gear and the wing upgrades. There will also be instancing. But I believe they'll make it work better than any previous try.

If i have to devote time for PvP to get some nice gear i will no doubt. Basically i like to Devote my time towards something and get rewarded...duh. So if there is a good balance of both i can make it work.
I would like a longer grind to max level though. DAOC was like that and i enjoyed it. |

PvP in AION is PvE. The Balaur are mobs, and there's other normal mobs in the Abyss too. Sure, you might have to fight off some overzealous enemy players, but that's not too bad, is it? You're still doing PvE stuff and having fun, right? You don't even need someone to invite you, just get out there and solo the mobs for materials and whatnot. Bonus if your guild controls a castle and the NPC merchants there can make you something extra awesome with aforementioned materials.

Mark good post, makes sense how the PvP will work as a PvE. If i need to play my PvP role in a more PvE way then im all for it. Sounds like a fantastic approach to an MMO.
P.s. Im going to Megacon aswell, i saw a post you had done about it and such. Hope to see you there! |

Platino I'm sure it will. It will most likely be pvp over the good spots in abyss to pve and farm at. Sounds interesting to me.

I doubt Aion will be much likely as that. I doubt instances will take up to eight or even more hours while the strategy part is almost completely missing. If that happens, then by all means, I'm not going to go through the endgame of Aion, cause that'd be a pain in the *** rather than an enjoyable experience. Ingame equip just isn't worth that much effort and by far not worth enough to compromise with my real life as much as that. I'd rather be a crafter and get the most expensive and best buyable equip instead.

Endrance it's been said that Aion will have instancing but the highest weapons will be gained via pvp and then crafting.
This is just my speculation though but you can probably craft the highest items which is gonna cost a lot I assume and hard for one player to do but possible. Then you can raidboss and find those items instead which is a lot easier for example a guild.

This is my plan: I'm gonna buy the game. I'm gonna play the game, and level my character to max level. Then I am gonna have a look at the endgame. If it is pvp-pnly, I will stop immediately playing, and find another game. If endgame is large-scale raiding of bosses only, I will stop playing. If endgame is contested bosses raiding, I will stop playing.
There has to be small-group endgame content. 5-man instances, 10-man instances, maybe even 15-man instances. Anything bigger is not fun, because it requires large guilds. Large guilds are hell, too much politics, too many teenage dumbass kids, etc. I think it will be very unlikely there will be small group content at endgame to keep you busy for weeks. So I am already preparing myself mentally that the game will be over at max-level. PS, tonight will be our first Vashj kill ! |

I just remembered in the interview on the mainpage of this site it says that abyss items are gained via pvp and drakonic items (the best) are obtained from crafting and the rarest materials are dropped by the balaurs in the abyss. However I do believe raidbosses will drop these materials and also have a chance to drop the entire item.
I know, my bad I simply meant that instancing will exist even if in a very small rate just wanted to clear that out to the others.
