Characters per server?

I had read that you can't interact with the other races, no trade, no communication (except taunts maybe?). I had also heard that you can only have one of the two races as your character per server. What I was trying to find out is if we can make more than one chara per server so long as it's the same race, or are we all stuck with one chara for the entire time? I did a search, but didn't come across anything. Any news/help is appreciated.

Thats a good question Aoshi, I hope it gets answered, I would like to know also..

I'm not too worried about that problem though, I trust that NC Soft would make it able to create multiple chars per server.. I have a good assumption that it will be somewhat like L2 with the amount of chars per server [9]

In some screenshots from beta we seen accounts with 4 characters, and a scroll bar with an arrow pointing down, possibly meaning there could be more characters.
It WAS beta, but I'm sure that you'll still be able to make at least 4, as long as they'll all the same faction. :P

It is just one faction per server, but I'm also curious as to how many alt Elyos characters I can have on the server. I don't remember where I heard it, but I think I may have possibly overheard some very unreliable rumor-level shady bit of information that server populations cap at 5000 people (so not more than 5000 total players or maybe characters can be on one server) and it might be interesting to see how your number of alts might affect that population number.

I myself generally play one character and stick to it. Maybe I make another one if I find some other class that's pretty cool that's a "have to play that" kind of deal.

There was a video on youtube I believe from the Korean beta that showed 4 character slots, which is enough for most people. I myself have Alt-itis and as long as I can have one character of each class (I assume you can respec between tier 2 jobs?) I'm quite happy.

I'd guess at 8 it means you can create each class if you desire to do so. I doubt you'll be able to respec between tier 2 jobs.

It's not 5000 characters per server, it's in fact 5000 accounts per server. Because you can play only one character with one account at the same time, it doesn't matter how many alts you have.

But wait wouldnt that make it sort of uneven here? Ok look at it this way, 5000 players per server, so max players online at the same time would be 5k? What if there is substantially more Elyos players that Asmodian? Or vice-versa?

Hopefully this is not true and there will be either more than 5k per server, or they have some fix for the balancing problem that will most likely insue.. Such as make it so that if the Asmodian chars are filled up to 2.5k (on that server) then it wont let you create an Asmodian char? Or even make a char on that server that you want?

Well if that's true it's going to **** a whole lot of people off.

Well if respec should be allowed it should be restricted like a weeks worth of gold or so to do. Otherwise people will respec for parties or for when they are bored.
