Aion Classes

Well where to start. 8 class seems abit Little to me.

for starters classes I feel are missing

Shaman: well considere the lore a Tribunal class might be difficult to add, so it might be understandable, but spirits should be a part of the Lore as far as the game seems, also culd easy be a DPS,Healer or mage class in a way

Druid: well nature always plays a role and in a Devastated world there should be atlist a few hippies, so where are they?. could easy be healer or Mage

Bard: this one really bugging me, might be since I played one and Like the idea, but there seems to be lacking Support classes whit out healer. and Definitely no Melee support class. a DPS/buff/debuff class

Monk: hmmm again nobody and this seem to be lacking could be the "other" Melee dps class that does from the front, not everyone likes to do it from behind (in games *hah*)

Necro: the evil Spirtmaster do I need to say more

Also as far as I have gathered there ain't any difference whit the classes on the faction. this seems odd to me, as it would be much more interesting if you had "holy" and "death" specs and Poision and elements mages. it just seems odds that they change so much from enchoter but still the same

SO Disuses to you disagree/agree, or heck even have some classes you miss your self. I Bet if we boost the activity they realise some new info to us someday.........

Shaman / Druid seem to fall under the Spiritmaster class. Minus the hippie part, since Asmodians have no need for such things.

Bard would be the Chanter. Only thing missing is debuffs, I think.

Monk: I was going to say "Cleric" until I saw your description. Erm, warriors...do damage from the front. But a fist class would be cool.

Necro: Maybe. I don't like the idea of "Evil Spiritmaster", though.

Considering that the lore of this game shows that the daeva is a "divine being" i dont think a shaman class fits that well, aswell as druid.

Clerics/chanters can use stigma to become more of a melee class.

Gladiators are the melee class from the "front".

Necro maybe would be a good idea for the asmo spiritmaster.

I can agree on the shaman part and partly the druid, but its just seems to be be really lacking whats define a druid in my world. a power full spell caster of nature that can use it to heal as well as taking forms of animal.

Bard: here I really disagree, Chanter is a Spell buffer wild a bard is a Performance buffer. as well as often a "skilled" whit blades. my reason for lacking it can be that I'm coming from Everquest (1&2) and vanguard where they play a vital role. even you can say a Chanter has some mental magic power but they still diferente, he dazzle you whit a spell, the bard dazzle you whit voice not what he saying.

Monk, well for me a monk don't use armor, he wheres his Pyjamas =). and also when I say monk I want a Pure DPS class, not a Warrior that's just a more offencive tank.

Necro: well maybe for this game don't make em use Bones, but rather Evil spirits, I would love to see a ASmodian whit a Big bad Evil spirit pet rather then a Element pet

8 is fine for the moment, they will perhaps add more classes with expansions.
I don't see the point of putting 16 classes at the release and then realize that it will take too much time to balance the game.
When I read your list "shaman, druid, bard, monk..." well, it's the less played classes in WoW, because they're hybrid, and a game doesn't need to have 4-5 hybrid classes, because 1 is enough.

8 is fine in my opinion, it's only just coming out and we simply don't need more.

Necromancer doesn't fit in this game at all.

actually the necro, considering the asmo background, would fit BEST in this game, compared to the others (barring the monk, only due to the name)

as for the classes, was said above, its a new game, and 8 will be plenty for now (and possibly for the entire history of the game, tho mixing it up later would be nice)

Pretty much every role in Aion is covered for now. 1 pure healing, 1 tank, 4 DPS and 2 hybrids seems good enough for a game that has not even been released yet. We'll see if we ever think there is something missing when it gets there.

Here you go:
More Classes availble?
Decision seemed to be split.

Not that it really matters.

Damn edit feature... I made a nice intelligent post about the different suggestions and the edit didn't work... I also found the link. Oh well... thanks for the link Kyero.

I want to say though, the game isn't light vs. dark, angels vs. demons, good vs. evil. The necromancer does NOT fit in the lore. They would need to adapt the story of a Necromancer to make it so it wasn't inherently evil, because neither faction in the game is "evil." Sorry... it just doesn't fit.

I won't go into the others because I'm sick of debating the topic, tbh.

These 8 classes cover THE NEEDS of people, you have your playstyle preferences, and you will find your home within these classes, more classes is only a way of tweaking the basic ones, and there is another way of tweaking those classes: Through skills.

More names on the class list isn't what I look for, I'd rather have them being pretty unique so every class plays differently, with a bigger ammount of choices about how to play them.

For example, in LineageII there are a lot of classes, a good example of what I'm trying to say is the gladiator and the warlord, gladiator is a melee DD based on skills while Warlord is a polearm user specialized in AOE, what if Aion's gladiator specializes aswell in AOE and you have the choice to play as you want? 1 class instead of 2, but a richer class, won't need to reroll in order to test the AOE class.

Whoa whoa whoa now. Lots to say here.

Okay, I can agree, the classes do seem a little bit small. 4 base classes, each with only one of two upgrades. Then, with the limit of only two races, that's a bit tiny. Does it need more? Nope. I think they filled everything the game needs, and as long as it's all balanced, I think everyone can find a class they enjoy within the bounds of what it is. Could it use more later? Sure, why not? More classes is fun.

x_x We're running out of cool things to talk about on Aionsource, and I wasn't here for previous beatings of things. I wanna beat up all the subjects until they beg for their mommies! Mwuahahaha!

I don't care what anyone says, Asmodians are evil. Fangs, back hair, "deadish" color skin, red eyes, living in a dark gloomy place.... it's like if Freddy Krueger came knocking on my door telling me "Honest, I just want to come in and have a cup of tea and talk about global warming"
... yeah, I don't buy it.

I like the necromancer class. I think it's a nifty class. Maybe call it something different though like.... I dunno. But make it something like a Valkyrie who can summon the spirits of fallen heroes, maybe as a 3rd tier upgrade class to Spiritmaster sometime in the distant future.

NCsoft > you. They have said they aren't an evil faction(sub-race, seeing as the Asmodians and Elyos are from the same race, but they are branched into their own sub-race/factions). Read the background story to back this up.

As for the "Monk" class, it's not that we lack DD jobs for Aion, but we do lack any kind of hand-to-hand class. Gladiators use Great Swords, Great Axes, Polearms, Swords, Shields, probably One handed Axes as well. Rangers use Swords/Bows, Assassins use Daggers/Swords, etc. But there isn't even any kind of skill released so far that gives any kind of hand-to-hand bonus. Monks have always been popular in RPG/MMORPGs. I absolutely loved my Monk more than any other job in FFXI. If given the choice, I might even have picked Monk over Templar in Aion. It's just a very unique and fun job.

This topic has been beaten to death extremely, like 95% of the other topics that resurface EVERY DAMNED DAY. Of course, people are too clueless to use the search topic.
