Well if the server is full and you are trying to make a char, it could be as simple as typing in a character name of a friend, then if that person is online, or the next time they are online it will send them a message saying "blah blah is using you as a referer to create a character on this server, do you accept?" y/n if you say yes they are allowed to create a char.

Or It could just be you create a character before you choose a server, and it gives you a recommended list.

I mean L2 has 10 servers (I'd imagine aion for the US would be the same or have less, unless it hit like 2 million+ subscribers)...The servers just randomly have a name and number from 1-10, the most populated ones have always been the first and second on the list, just because they are on the top, and the last 2 simply because they are the newest and euro (all others were made at day 1), I cant see anyone having a bias to server 4 over server 7 or something for any other reason than them liking the server's name, or knowing people who play on it.

and yes there hasnt been any discussion on it yet, just "it infringes on my rights as a human being"

I'm just stating that it doesn't matter that a player does or does not care about which server they play on despite it being server 3 or 8 or 1, the company is reducing their freedom of choice and acting as a dictatorship on something as simple as a server.

and believe it or not some people are bias to servers, because 3 might be their lucky number and they want to play on three, it may sound silly, but people do actually choose a server in such a way.

Your basically stating that you want something similar to FFXI where a player could buy a world pass for a friend to join the server? And if they did make it in such a way, I'm assuming servers will still be unbalanced and factions as well. Because a majority of people already stated they will be playing with friends and family.

I do believe that is the view of one side against your view, which makes it a discussion, debate, or anything you want to call it.

Besides NCsoft is probably going to allow players choose their server that they wish to play on.

In lineage 2 beside each server is its ping.... that is how i chose my server. The idea of creating your character and then giving a recommended server is a good idea imo. Can someone give me a link to where it says that if one faction farms a certain mob more then the other they will get a higher level one with better drops? or mines a certain area they will get better materials i would like to see that.

Was that a joke? because the answer would be no since there is no such link.

On the other hand both factions are able to camp/spawn NM (Notorious monsters) such as FFXI which in essence will give above average equipment & items, though there will never be such a situation where one faction only gets to mine better materials, chances are both sides will be allowed to mine the area such as WoW to level a craft, where Alliance & horde have access to them despite area.

I agree. Having a somewhat-balanced spread of class counts is definitely better than not having one at all. However, that's at the macro level.

It would also benefit players in the micro level. Parties would be more evenly balanced and it would naturally make finding party members less tedious. Having over-played classes turn off many of my friends in playing MMOs, so I do believe this idea should be implemented in some way, shape or form.

You should have brought this up earlier in the "Submit a suggestion" thread!

It will always end up balanced in every game. What the poster was suggesting here was to allow people to see the current balance. Many people LOVE to play as the underdogs. So simply displaying the %s of each race allows them to do so.

I think recommending a server isn't a bad idea, however when you go ahead and tell a player that they can't be the race the want to be in a certain server it's crossing the line.

Exactly. You had your reasons and they were good reasons. But somewhere there ( read: first sentence ) you crossed over into "well I just want everybody to play the game I want them to play it, because screw them, only what I want matters" for just about anybody who never got the chance to read your post ( which is also what happened after your first post because you didn't explain yourself ).

Anyway, given server transfers, especially if they are free, I think it's very likely that the game will approach fully balanced by itself. It's just how nature operates. Everything likes to reach an equilibrium state. It won't be a perfect equilibrium, but nobody is going to whine bout a 5% here or a 5% there.

One of the worst things you can do is take away a person's right to make a choice when he expects to be able to make a choice. Now imagine that in AION when everybody tells you "it's going to be better than WoW," "you'll have free movement in all directions," "you can do all these awesome things" and so you get the game and get to character creation and... "sorry, you can't do that."

Ok they would NEVER actually stop you from choosing a class or race, what he was saying in the original post was to have the information from the server or even just in general on what % is Elyos, what % is Asmodian, etc. I'm sure if they do anything like this that is all it'd be, to inform those people who like to play as underdogs or want to help balance things out because they don't care what race they are.

Some classes may get overplayed, some hardly played, it's part of the game so they can't do anything about classes, people are gonna play what class they wanna play~
