I hope that the look of the capes are by job, type of cape, etc. Those characters looked like they are mages, so the cape style fits their class. But honestly, as a Gladiator or Templar, I'd expect it to be a full on cape, for example, like the Spartans in 300 wore. A ranger/assassin would have more of a shorter, hood+cape type.
