Chanter Underpowered?
I'm only going to be talking about pvp here, since chanters are seemingly built for pvp. I'm not asking for a balance for chanters in pvp, but this is just something I thought about.
When a Chanter does pvp, since most pvp groups have a chanter(s), wouldn't a chanter be useless vs a already chanter buffed team? Let's say for damage output; because other classes are geared more towards damage and they already have chanter buffs, the dps of a chanter becomes almost insignificant, since they have a handicap already. This is one of the only things turning me off about playing one. Anyone realize this? Would chanters just have to stay back and heal, or what? They do have offensive skills, but I think they aren't as strong as others. |

I think it's way to soon to tell anything about that. We don't have enough information at all.

I have to agree with Eaglix to some extend, but also with eVenom when it comes to the skills. I personally think that the Chanter has a lot of potential, but that it's definitely determined by play:style which seems rather excessive/broad when you take into account all possible factors.
Nevertheless, every class has it's strong points and weak points, and we won't find out how to increase and or compromise these until we actually play.

Chanters have their buffs and I suppose they'll have advantages if those are up and they're fighting someone who hasn't any of them. Although if the, for example, Templar they're fighting also has the same buffs from another Chanter, I doubt he'd be able to win the fight. I'm just hoping for some unique Skills which aren't entirely about some kind of attack power or strength, but rather strategy based (positioning, counter spells, complete status ailment cure on self, passive stun resistance... whatever).
Then again, buffers and healers have always been team characters, so if I wanted to pick one, I wouldn't do it because I wanted to solo the entire time.

No reason to assume anything, if you ask me any class can be potentially strong if it's played right.

Maybe they have some special skills where just only one can be active. Then 2 Chanters would make sense. Chanter A buffs buff X where Chanter B buffs y since one Chanter can't buff X AND Y at one time.

Which brings me to the idea that maybe a Chanter would only be able to give a Templar defensive buffs and Gladiator offensive one's, while he can buff himself to the max. That's a way of balancing it. Then again, kinda a lame way.

It all depends on buff's importance.
If buffs are really important (L2 style): I know I'll own 1v1 self-buffed, I know I'll be a support char in parties and just that. Then I'd prolly be looking for portals in order to progress if the abyss points system is simply a last hit system. If buffs are not so important: I know Ill use them just for the small boost which can make a difference, but the char then won't have to rely on them, but rely on offensive skills and spells, and then, in parties, I'd be welcome for the small boost which can be effective, and i'd keep relying on my skills to get my frags. Then again, we are assuming abyss points are last hit system, and we are about to know the specs, since abyss points are gonna be tested in this upcoming beta. |

Well, what if certain high powered chanter buffs only last 5-10 seconds? Your chanter will need to be constantly... chanting. Adding to DPS when they can, healing with their (minor but effective Im sure) healing abilities, and removing status effects if they exist.

In a team vs team fight where you all your enemies have buffs and heals as well i would imagine it would be in the best interest of the group for the chanters to 1) Reapply buffs as some classes my have theirs removed constantly from the other team 2) Dispell buffs on the other team 3) Dispell harmful debuffs and CC on your team 4) Heal Now if you'r soloing then you're enemy shouldn't have the buffs you have and it should even the figth out to be fair. IF your enemy does have said buffs, remove them to make it fair. In every mmo i've ever played all "buff" classes have the ability to also dispell debuffs from themselfs and/or remove the buffs of their enemies, I highly doubt Aion is any different in this respect.
