Main storyline quests.

I've seen vids of in-game cutscenes, so I'm guessing this game will have some sort of main storyline along with the random WoW-ish sidequests.

I can't find in the FAQ how these quests work though.

For those who played FFXI, Guild Wars and WoW:
(please answer if you only played all 3)

Are they aiming for mission-style instances like GW, or the Mission system in FFXI ? Since Aion is a MMO (GW isn't), I'm not sure how much instancing they'll have.

If you haven't played FFXI, you probably won't understand what I'm asking.

The main-storyline based missions/quests will mostly be instanced so your character can be the star of the show. Kinda like GW.

Aion's only 10% instanced, and that includes little dungeons and whatnot. The other 90% of the game is normal.

They say that the game will be about 10% instancing and 90% non-instanced. As for missions, I'm not sure, but a few quests seemed to be like that in some videos.

I know what you're thinking of, and it's like the FFXI mission style, except we don't know enough as to whether they will be something like "Nation Missions" or just random quest-pickups. Aion has cutscenes for the main storyline and also for some non-important quests.

GW is an ORPG. That's ONLINE RPG for you. One of very few, so we normally just throw it under MMO.

To be honest I have no idea on how Aion's quests are going to be placed.

One thing that I DON'T want to see is the FFXI quest system (not style). It's the most cryptic and retarded quest system I've ever seen ("Go to a city in the horizon, and talk to a man") Thx heavens to FFXIclopedia *prays to the Wiki gods*

I liked GW quest style, although I didn't like the whole "intanced world thing"...made it so not MMO.

As Mark has stated, Guild Wars is not technically classified as an MMORPG. In fact, ArenaNet and NCsoft prefer to call it CORPG.

CORPG stands for "Competitive Online Role-Playing Game". Guild Wars was the first game in this genre, since the term was coined by ArenaNet.

Yeah as said above you are the star of the show in the plot, just like GW and FFXI. I hope it's as expansive as FFXI's story was. And yes, the quests in FFXI were so annoying! Talk to a guy, 5 minute cutscene, go talk to another guy 20min away, 5min CS, now go back to the original guy, 10min CS. New quest! Go talk to this beezy, 5min CS, and finally report back to the original guy to get a CS giving you your mission or real Quest.

The annoying part is not the cutscene, is knowing who to talk to!
If Wiki didn't exist I would (and probably 98% of the game's population) probably have completed about 5 quests in 4 years, 0 rank missions, and 0 expansion missions.
