You don't want to pug with people who talk in all caps...that's for sure.

I also agree, Wow's LFG tool is useless, but I believe it's because it was released so late it didn't become part of the culture of the game.
This is true. There's nothing wrong with the LFG-tool in WoW , but they implemented it way too late.

I almost never PUG anymore, although I used to a lot. It's just more fun grinding with the people in your Guild and your buds~

Well maybe they will have a LFG system similar to FF11, that would help a lot.

Same thing here. I liked EQ's LFG feature. It was fast and user friendly. Something similar in Aion for those times when one had to PuG would be beneficial.

I've had some really good experiences with PUGs; ran through most of Guild Wars first time around with random groups and rarely had a problem. Occasionally you get someone who can't work in a team, but more than once I've seen a star player rescue a mission going badly.

That said, I wouldn't like to tackle some of the harder areas of any MMO with a hastily put together group. That's just wasting everyone's time, and in that case I'd rather solo than get annoyed

I think you can tell pretty quickly whether the group you joined is going to be any good or not; whether people are going to /ragequit halfway through the mission or just need a lot of support. If people seem more mature and a bit organised out of a mission, they probably will be inside of a mission too.

I persoanlly love the LFG system in CoH/V and I'm hoping something similar will be implemented in Aion.

From playing WoW and GW for the better part of 3 years I adapted a rule of thumb for needing a group or extras to fill slots. WoW is alot easier than GW (its messy with GW) With WoW I will do the following, if the player is a hunter (easy class to solo/level) reguardless of items (upto Sunwell can now be pugged/hopped through) they are not welcome unless I know them. I do not pug a healer (re hunter) except from through reputation checking of at tiered items, but will pug a tanking class due to the armoury that Blizzard provides. I will look for the magic numbers needed to be uncrittabe/uncrushable. Caster/Melee DPS is a dime a dozen so if they don't cut the grade they are replaced within 3 pulls and alot of those players know this. I am known as hard on my server but its for a reason for the success of the group not the individual. I will also balance off from crowd controll and movement control (slowing/binding effects)aspects too (you can never have enough CC or Movement control) Admitantly this is for a seperate game to Aion and Aion is still under construction. Though the fundimentals of the group make up remain the same across MMO's being of Tanking class, Healer, DPS (ranged/melee) and crowd controll/movement controll.

I've found WAR's party system to be quite helpful. It queries the zone for people flagged or already in a group and lists whether they're doing PvE, RvR or PQ and for which Chapter and lists their name and rank. Just pull up the window and auto-merge with whatever group suits your goal. I've yet to run into terrible PUGs with this system. Only time it sucks of course is when its not during or around Peak time, but that's the same with all other party functions--can't party with zero people!

I only pug in the very beginning a game when me and my guild are on other sides of the map and its just easier to grab somebody for 10 minutes to help you with a quest. After things start getting hard and people should know how to work their class, its clan and friends all the way. If you are good at your class and word gets around you wont be wanting for groups.
