My Opinions/Concerns regarding the Classes

So, I see there are like 5 other posts on this, i hope mine is different and if it isn't i apologize.

I was wondering what think the Balancing issues will be in Aion.

- Templar This is obviously the "Tank" of the Aion game, but is it limited to sword and shield, and will it have an extremely over-powered defensive buff like the Paladins Holy "Bubble" from World of Warcraft, where nothing could touch you for X amount of seconds and you could heal to full.

- Gladiator (Russel Crowe eat your heart out) Obviously one of the Melee Damage dealers, unlike the assassin these guys arn't afraid to just walk up with an uber two-handed weapon and crush your fricken skull with it. BUT...... what good is that if they cant fricken hit!! Final Fantasy XI had some really bad Accuracy issue with Melee classes, Especially if you're Elvaan. I hope its not just "move 1, move 2, move 3, move 4" wash rinse repeat till max levels. Hardcore melee classes always "LOOK" awesome, but have no claws. I hope this is not Aion's Case

- Ranger I was SO into being this when the launch came, "I am So a ranger as soon as this game comes out", even told my friends about it. UNTIL..... i saw several videos where they ranger fires, runs, fires, jumps, fires, runs... I am sorry but thats TOO much effort for one kill especially in high agro zone and you just happen to jump right into a dragon's nest or something smashing one of her children's heads clean through his ***... I am sorry but if kiting is the only way to level a ranger solo i'll have to pass. On the other hand i am interested in seeing what they can do in a group situation.

- Assassin This is one of the choices I am leaning towards but I will do my best not to sound biased in my evaluation. Assassin's from what i see, is simply cool looking, and the combo system of this game really makes them shine from the CBT vids we have. But, are they going to be Over-powered like in World of Warcraft where they can keep you in "Sap " lock for 45 fricken minutes???? This is the only concern i have with this class, this is 1 of 2 classes I think will be "Nerfed" first.

- Sorcerer My second biggest choice for the game. I Love magic DPS classes, but.. can this truly be solo'ed. With Aion boasting about it being completely solo-able then I am curious as to how for the Sorcerer. If i have to expend all my Mana to destroy 2 mobs, then soloing will be done in about 3 years. Final Fantasy XI had this problem, try leveling a Black Mage from lvl 1 without a support class... I'll see you in a few months, when you're finally 18. I'd Imagine this class with be a Heavy hitter. in groups, but a Glass Cannon outside of a group situation, that will be the only thing turning me away from this class.

- Spirit-Master As a general note, ALL pet classes are simply over-powered in one way or the other. I like the idea of "master of the elements" but this class could be "TOO" powerful if they could just counter monster's with there elemental weakness... Regardless it looks really fun, but I personally believe this will be job number 1 to receive the Nerf bomb.l My concern is they will dominate all others in PVP.. I've seen a few PVP vids with them, but can't conclude anything due to there crappy Resolution. that and i can't read Korean...

- Cleric Ahhh yes, the healer. But again will this healer be able to solo? will it have Damage dealing abilities? I love the fact that its the traditional armor clad Cleric wielding the mace, but is the mace the only thing they have as a weapon? Regardless i don't have any major concerns for this class, they're healers and at least they have the "easy" button when it comes to group searching situations.

- Chanter The Buffing Class. I'd imagine these to be Bard's only with like, Jet-Li style training. Any buff class can be a real nightmare to fight in PvP, buffing and healing which they say chanters can do can lead to an endless loop of "YEAH HE"S ALMOST!!!.......... DAMN IT!!!!!" in PvP... In a group situation i don't see how these guys could be left out, and as for them being Solo-able, buffs on top of martial arts moves "Saw it in a vid" i think these guys and gals can handle their own... My only concern is over-powered in PvP

If you took the time to read all this thank you for listening to the rantings of a mad man, and i leave it up to discussion. Please i want to know how you feel on this matter, i just spent 5 hours at my sushi job thinking these up.... Comments people, please...

I haven't done extensive reading on anything but the Spiritmaster just yet, but I can say that if the current implementation of "grounded" pets stands, we can safely assume they won't be OMGHAX overpowered.

Also, one would hope that the dev team can make responsible balancing decisions, as needed, without giving into the vicious nerf cycle that plagued other mmo's.

There are several threads that do put to rest your concerns on the classes, all you have to do is look them up. Just remember, they are still in CB2 and things may change again.

People will see only the things they choose to see whether they fear it is true or they want it to be. Often it is because of so that they fail to see the entire truth.

As long as the developers don't think like this, I think we should be good!

Dev 1: HEY MAN, The druids won't stop QQing wtf, we need to shut them up god they're annoying
Dev 2: Oh yah I'm rerolling a druid so let's just buff everything they say it has to be right

<Patch release>

Dev 3: WTF now my shaman can't beat resto druids are you kidding me? I GO OOM?
Dev 1: Geez we'll just buff shamans too.

<Patch release>

Dev 4: Great now the huntarddz can't stop *****ing at us, sigh whatever we'll just give them what they want.
Dev 5: Let's change Aimed Shot too and Arcane Shot maybe we can solve the whole hunter not getting in arena problem, pfft who cares about PVE anyways. Oh then let's all reroll hunters!
Dev 4: agreed

<patch release>

Dev #: MAN my alt mage's keep dying and my dmg suck *** I WANNA BE FIRE AND ICEBLOCK
Dev ?: Fine stfu we'll give all the mages iceblock
Dev #: But then frost tree would be useless wtf are you stupid
Dev $: WHAT THE HELL DO U WANT THEN
Dev #: I WANT ICE BLOCK AND HASTE BUFF!

<patch release>

As long as that's not their idea of balancing a game, we should be good .

<The above scenario does not refer to any specific games, if there are any similarities, it is only by chance a mere coincidence. The poster does not hold any responsabilities for the similarities and apologize in advance if anyone finds offense in the material above but it is with no intentions did the post meant to offence.>

I am not sure if they actually have this "bubble" like spell that makes everything immune from harming Templar.. yet but they are not that "invincible" as you think. Even with Templar tanking, groups wipe here and there.

From what I see in current beta test, they hit fine and they solo fine. In group, they are just another melee dps that can offtank if needed since they wear plate just like Templars.

You can just stand still and get hit while trying to kill, nobody said rangers must KITE to kill. If you want to be lazy and get hit while killing a mob, be my guest and go for it. They are called rangers for a reason, they are best at being sneaky guerillas, not a "huntard with a pet that is strong as players" like WoW. In a group, they are just ranged dps, same as sorc pretty much. Lay a trap once in a while to crowd control that's all.

Assassin's stealth has a duration unlike WoW's rogue, and there is no such thing as sap as of yet at least. Well.. what you said doesn't make any sense even if there was, I mean first of all there is a thing called diminishing return in WoW, which means you can't sap 1 person for 45 min -_-; I am pretty sure if developers ever decide to give assassins ability to sap like rogues in WoW then they will add diminishing return too.

Sorcs do have mana problem atm. There isn't any system like "mana regen per 5 sec" or stat like "spirit" from WoW in this game. So.. basically sorcs kill 2-3 mobs, then gotta rest to regen. From what I see, sorc's spells are kinda unbalanced in cost of mana. I mean this spell which is very similar to frost nova of WoW's mage, it doesn't even hit for much it's there just for aoe snare yet requires +450 mana. My sorc is level 17 atm and have about 3200 mana pool, you can guess how much of big deal is to spend 450 mana on hardly any damage aoe spell. Sorcs do have a skill called meditation which can be used every 1 min to regen +450 mana instantly, but this is not enough. IMO, they just need to balance the sorc's spells' mana cost then they should be fine.

They are indeed the master of soloing atm.. for PVE at least. This doesn't mean they are invincible even in PVP. They are not strong as Warlocks of WoW so you don't have to worry about this that much.

Clerics do have offensive spells and abilities. They could solo but it won't be easy as they level up since monsters are harder and stronger at higiher level. They are always welcomed in any groups.

Chanters are the weakest and most useless class in game atm. Their so called "buffs" aren't much of big deal as of now, they can't deal damage like assassins or gladiators in melee, and they can't heal as good as clerics. NCsoft wanted chanters to be the best buffer in game along with good enough melee combat so they could protect them selves and heal to backup clerics if needed. However, it's not as what they intended atm and they will most likely do something about this matter since many chanters are complaining already.

Out of curiousity, do you know how to slice up those sashimi like in those japanese manga where they throw it up then go FLING* <-- super fast knife movement invisible to the naked eye
That'd be so cool

LOL!!! no, the knife i use is called a Yanani... its as sharp as a katana, as my right index finger found out the other day >< so throwing a fish up that costs about 17 buck a pound and hacking at it would result in me un-employed with a broken rice cooker smashed on my head, LOL.... kidding of course. I wish though,

Woohoo!

Though I'd prefer an Oyako don or General Tso's chicken.

Almost cut off a finger of mine once with a knife at a resturant I worked at: Moe's Southwest Grille. They suck. Publix is 50x better.

I don't know that I have the same fears, but I am afraid they will forget to add some interesting elements to all the professions, primarily templar. I find the whole idea of provoking an enemy to attack you to utilize your higher defense pretty poor, and ineffectual in PvP as well. Rather I hope they find alot of good alternate means for Templar to share his defensive advantage and utilize some counteractive defense attacks as well, that way we have a rounded defense and bodygaurd class rather than a dumb tank and provoke class.
