Racial Ideology and Ethics

Well, in my intro thread I've already been asked to join a certain faction.

Well, faction is a big choice to me. What I am wondering is if there is any ethical or ideological differences between the two playable races. As far as I can see from what I've read, the differences are purely aesthetic, although one race is described as more somber.

I see that they're ****ed at eachother over the twoer thing, but it seems implied that they're equally at fault for starting the squabble in the first place?

If there is no difference here, I guess it's down to aesthetic choice, but I'd like it if there a little more depth to the races than wing style and how much sunlight their land gets

Well, one of the factions wanted to destroy the Balaurs entirely, while the other faction just wanted them banish from this world to an other dimensional plane and leave them there. We dont know which one wanted which thing.

After the Tower destroyed, this argument was the main reason the Daevas split into 2 factions.

Unfortunately, we know very little about the cultures/ideals of the Elyos and Asmodians at this point. I think there are some differences, we just haven't had an opportunity to explore them yet .

I'm going Elyos but I'm gonna see how many people I have to kill to get blackened wings, therefore my choice is purely aesthetic, not like I care who does what or who "feels" what, I'm gonna be mean either way...

The Eeyos wanted war with the Balaur and we didn't the resulting conflict caused the rift and we've been collecting feathers ever since.

If I had to take a wild guess at the "personality" of both sides... I'm going to venture to say that the Elyos are "prideful" in a sense. Sort of haughty like a high elf might be. They have the area with the sunlight, and they have the "city on a hill" and if they're the ones that want to destroy the Balaur for good, it seems very typical of your haughty kind of race.

I'd guess the Asmodians would be "hateful" or spiteful. Maybe my info is wrong, but I believe I read somewhere they're upset about not getting the sunlit spot, and perhaps despise the Elyos for hording it to themselves.


Again, this isn't official and I'm not even sure how correct my knowledge on lore is. But, if just trying to take a stab at it to maybe give you a bit of an idea on the direction NCSoft might go.

I know exactly how you feel! I can't wait for more background lore to be released so I can see with whom I want to cast my lot. As of right now I'm going with my Babylon 5 analogy of the Vorlons and Shadows.

If that doesn't sound familiar do a quick wiki search or something, I think i'm getting too long in the tooth with my references sometimes.

If I were forced to pick right this very second I think i'd pick Asmo, as my gut is telling me that the Elyos may end up being one of those "things are not all that itseems" type of scenarios. My gut's been known to be wrong though, especially when I eat too much spicy food.

I'd say asmodians were more of a "I don't really give a damn" type of race and just do as their hearts desire and live out what's "most natural". Which obviously includes evil and sins.

elyos seems more like the "I have to be right, you must be wrong. I'm doing this for the good of everyone (when they're probably just thinking it's good for everyone when it's not really that way) so I must be on the right side. If you're not on my side you must be exterminated because you must be bad". (POLITICIANS?)
