you cant play backward console games from the PsX or Ps2 unless you buy the overly expensive version of the ps3.

online play is something left to be desired in the few games i have NSF pro street, Resistance Fall of man (this was a nice game but the graphics were like a downgrade of half life no thanks you could have done something more with your 54 gigs of space) the online play was often laggy (i had a good enough internet speed that my xbox doesn't lagg 1 bit but the ps3 did.) and had long cues because not as many people would fork out the cash for the console.

It's pretty much just you.

the only thing that i think the Ps3 excels in is that it has a large hard drive that you can replace with any other normal hard drive BUT the xbox has a special type of had drive which is removed and taken with you easily to a friends house so you suddenly show them your customised xbox skins and play achievements if you didn't already see them online and compare games.

The PS3 excels in its hardware, software, design, etc. Eventually it'll excel in everything else. Achievments will become obsolete with Home. And it's killer app's this year sort of shatter everything.you may bring up the issue that you have to pay for online xbox play (a gold member ship) it costs $87 for a whole year, if you compare that to most P2P MMO's that have an average of $15 American a month to have that subscription for a whole year is $180 so obviously $87 isn't that much to any 1 who plays an MMO even if parents are paying for it.

Lol, you poor boy. Xbox1 flopped, and Microsoft lost more money than you could probably count. Microsoft released the defective XB360 a year early, to get a headtstart on the PS3, which is why it has a 15-33% failure rate. It's an unfinished product.

You know how many people would run out and buy a PS3 when it was like a month from release or something? And atleast 65% of PS3 owners will buy it. If it turns out like SE's vision, I'm guessing 75%. This is supposed to be one of the most technologically advanced console games because of the Crystal Tools Engine. It'll move 10 million max you say... um, isn't that huge? And of that 10 million, most of those guys will get it right at the FFXIII launch instead of later. Microsoft knows they can't buy SE for a couple of reasons:

1) Sony owns about 10% of SE's stock.
2) They're friends, partners, and SE won't make FFXIII for the 360 because of this and because they know how important it is to Sony's success Do you know there's actually a majority of PS3 owners who only have it because they're biding time for FFXIII If it was suddenly announced that FFXIII would be coming to the 360 as well, tons of people would be furious, and I can see a lot of PS3 owners returning there's for 360's.
3) Because of this, SE does new titles for their 360, like The Last Remnant, and helping on Infinite Undiscovery.
4) Although SE has loyalty to Sony, it can't be bought. It's like Rockstar, one of those companies you can't buy because the tide change would be too big.

Final Fantasy is powerful. Very powerful. FFXII being one of the lowest selling FF's (not counting the early ones), sold over 5 million copies. FF is very powerful, and it's the 4th largest selling franchise in gaming. 1) Mario 2) Pokemon 3) Sims.

If FFXIII doesn't do it, Versus will. If Versus doesn't do it, some other spin-off with the words Final Fantasy on it, or SE's official stamp, will. As long as Sony has FFXIII, no RPG the 360 cooks up can really match, and this is coming from me, someone who -owns- every 360 RPG: Oblivion, Enchanted Arms, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Eternal Sonata, getting Infinite Undiscovery, Tales of Vesperia, and the Last Remnant, for whichever ones that come out this year. Also, Mistwalker isn't popular enough yet to combat them, and both of their games have just been a little more than average, according to reviews. I found Blue Dragon to be Classic worthy.

Btw how would you know how many people live in Alaska play MMO's?? Winter time here is pretty boring and dreary... If you can find me statistics on the amount of alaskan players to other geographical demographics I would be interested in seeing that. But either way I would never expect an MMO company to make a decision on what to do based on one geographic demographic it would be bad for business.

I will say this again, if they do decide to platform Aion, more power to them, but I'm not to worried about it as they have no plans to do so and they're beta testing on the PC platform so either way.

Yes. 10 million is a MASSIVE amount. Let me show you what you said.

Most is not the right word here at all. FFXI13 has a chance at moving less than 10% of the 120 million ps2 owners.

Microsoft knows they can't buy SE for a couple of reasons:

This is true. (SHAREHOLDER INFORMATION | SQUARE ENIX). Although this has nothing to do with why Microsoft doesn't get an even larger piece.

This has nothing to do with why microsoft knows they "can't buy SE." SE is a publicly traded company, the only reason Microsoft hasn't launched a hostile takeover on SE is because they probably know that the amount they gain from FF games wont be more than the amount they have to pay to own over 50% of the company.

The "tide change" has nothing to do with why Rockstar (Take-two) doesn't want to go to Microsoft. They have their own financial interests to look after as well. The moment the profit margins for selling the company to Microsoft go above being independent, that company is as good as sold.

Well I don't know of any studies that have been conducted over alaskan mmo players, but I think we can apply some logic here. There are 670,053 people living in Alaska (Alaska QuickFacts from the US Census Bureau). Not a lot of people when compared to Virginia (where I'm from), 7,642,884. Do you see where I'm going with this? I'm from Fairfax County, just 1 county holds 1,010,443 people.

Not really. Korean companies do it all the time. They make a game tailored for the interests of their country and sell/market it there. There are countless Korean mmo's that we haven't even heard of. They have business models for their games, a lot of them aren't meant to be the next WoW or EQ, they are just meant to get the revenue over the cost to make a quick profit and do it all over again.

I will say this again, if they do decide to platform Aion, more power to them, but I'm not to worried about it as they have no plans to do so and they're beta testing on the PC platform so either way.

100% agree with that statement. There is no harm putting it on the ps3, if anything, it allows for more exposure. I for one want Aion to succeed. For that to happen, it needs a lot of people playing it. With MMO's, WoW took the industry by storm by appealing to the casual players, something previous MMO's failed to do. If Aion can appeal to console gamers, a relatively untapped market for MMO's, then that would be huge.

That's the case for most people. It'll be the case for me, apart from MGS4. But pretty soon we'll have games we buy the PS3 for instead of FFXIII :P. I'm dying to play Uncharted and R&C5, but it's not enough to buy one yet.
