Aion on Consoles

I started a poll about this a while ago and found people quite divisive on the issue. But for the heck of it, I decided to revitalize the issue, possibly this time with some Dev input. It came to mind to revive the topic because of the 'Aion on Macs' thread.

Obviously, this is not something we would look forward to at release, but for those of us who would not be in a financial position to buy a computer capable of running it, or if they just prefer the console setup, can we be able to do it. Is it on the developers' minds?

I'm sure it's in far sight for devs, but I wouldn't expect it for a year or two or even three into the game. Once they release the game they start worrying about expansion and new material, so it's awhile before they get a break to convert it to consoles and such. Macs will be a lot easier to do than Xbox360, PS3, etc

I think it could be an option for them to consider for the future after release. The console market doesnt see much MMO love so anything like that on them is bound to collect interest from console owners looking for something different than the 100's of fps games out there xD

Well I think an MMO has the word massive in it for a reason, but I don't believe we will se MMO's converted onto all systems and computers any time soon, most console players are more FPS RPG and/or racing/gta style gamers, I suppose you could look at it this way, consolers = mindless violence PC/Mac users = mindless intellectuals...

I prefer NCsoft to focus on the computer version.

This is all reliant on the success of the games launch and continuation, they haven't made any plans yet, and they woln't unless it breaks out on computers. At that point I think they should seriously consider it, there already is an MMO which has crossed all feasible platforms, and thats FFXI, which is definetly contributing to their sales, marketing Aion on console would definetly be a success, providing the game is as good on computer.

It would make sense to put it on a console, but only if it has good preformance on the PC. The only reason FFXI made it to a console was b/c it had even better progress on its PC counterpart, but if Aion does not make a good game on the PC then there is no way its ever going to make it to a Xbox or Ps3 or whatever.

I can't see any other MMO being ported other than FFXI. Games have to have consoles in mind when they're develop the game.

Agreed, they would have to reprogram alot of things methinks, and i don't feel that unless it becomes EXTREMELY sucessful, that they would bother to reprogram the game just for consoles, but i guess if they make enough money and it becomes popular enough, anything's possible

Age of Conan will go to the 360, but again that was already the plan for that game.

Yep, and Age of Conan relies heavily on your basic attack directions mixed with combos, which lends itself to console gaming. Most MMOs use 12 to 24 spells/abilities on a very regular basis and pulling all of them up via a game controller gets beyond irritating in PvP for those of us who weren't born with a controller in our hands. I suppose they do make keyboards for the newer consoles...
