5k people per server? Wow.. how many starting servers then? 50-60? I mean, if they miscalculate the number of people who will create chars on a server.. eek..

I mean, look, AoC had about 20 servers opened at the start of EarlyAccess and they had to open 2 new ones because others got congested in the first 2 hours of the access.

WoW had somewhat low amount of servers open on launch and had huge overcrowding (Queues up to 1500people) in the first week after launch.

I'd rather see the servers a little laggy at start but crowded, and if necessary they can open new servers in the next days to fix that, than seeing too many servers available at start and seeing them being filled only half for each.

Oh, and to my most humble opinion, they should not allow chinese/korean IPs to connect to NA/EU servers. (well that can be a little stupid to say actually, being french myself, i plan on playing on an american server). I know farmers are not only originating from these countries, but Korea and China will have their own game versions, and everyone knows farmers are the beginning of chaos in a game, because they always lead to ebay and then 3rd party programs.

When will we ever see a farmer free mmorpg ? Bleh, certainly never gonna happen.

I don't know how it will work but NcSoft didn't do to well with Lineage2. The game is old now but you can forget about seeing anyone at a low-level town or on the road while you travel between cities. Made me sad, created this effect of an offline mmo.

But that's inevitable and there's no way to prevent it. When most of the people start reaching end-game, and after months since release, it's normal that you can't see many players in newbie towns. It's all about community progress.

I'd guess 5-8 starting servers, assuming the amount of subscribers is close to ~1 million. That was the average for L2 which also had 5k people per server.

I was under the assumption that the towns and stuff were split into different lobbies/instances. The only instances i might aggree to are the very first starting areas, where you are say lvl 1-5.

I was thinking of the same thing but I do recall an interview with some one from Aion talking about the Balaur, and how they can take over a keep at any time, even when your sleeping.

Just because everyone is in NA, doesn't mean everyone sleeps the same time you do. So that reason is null and void.

As for Lineage 2 and no players in starter towns....The game is 4 years old. You wont get that many new players, and most everyone else is at end game and in the more advanced zones, they have no reason to be in the starter towns.

There will be both Euro and NA servers, if people dont speak english then they can go on the euro servers. Its just for people who have clans and friends on a diff server and want to play with them, or maybe someone works odd hours and wants a server that will peak during their active time of the day.
