I disagree with whomever says Elyos will attract more mature then Asmodians, I think it'll be the other way around if anything. I actually think it's the more adult choice to go Asmodian, those who prefer a darker more serious atmosphere. While the "kids" go Elyos because they want to be angels with great wings, and play as heroes.
It's not easy to say which side will attract which kind of people, I guess both sides get a bit of both, but the question is who will have the more mature community. Anyway like I said, I don't agree with the "asmodians will get a lot of kids" statements.

I thought this quote from Aion-Welten.de - Die deutsche Aion Community was particularly appropriate for this thread:

Edit: but it does look like NCsoft is trying to counter any negative attitudes that would unbalance the game: Quote:

![]() If the game goes the way I think it should, regardless of which side you choose, the other side will be painted negatively by in game references such as quests and NPCs. Propaganda is an important tool in creating the militant mindset for factional wars. I think that is also why they ask you to choose a faction before you make any characters, and disallow communication and creation of characters from the other faction, that is kind of like censorship. (The per-server clause is just added in because people already paid for the content, it doesn't make sense to shut them out of it completely.) Last edited by Heinel; 05-03-2008 at 07:00 PM.. |

i dont see a prob with the balance here, i mean if all the wow gamers (i wont say kids =P) think that the asmo resemble the horde they naturally would go for the asmo since the horde is supposed to be more pvp-suited, and since wow got tons of millions of players, this tons of players would be enough to get rid off of the balance prob
well thats what im basically thinking anyway^^ PS: im gonna be a hero so i wouldnt mind getting overpowered by some wannabe-bad-boys ![]() ![]() ![]()

I always have the same problem in games that are faction based. I never saw the Asmodians as bad, and I never saw the Elyos as "the heroes". Its not until after the posts start flowing, that people might get set on the good / evil thing. I have not seen a post that has someone saying "Asmodians are bad, Elyos good". Its really everyone assuming thats how they will be percieved, even though none of us here, or at least 99% of us, dont look at it like good and evil.
The real question that would help answer alot of questions is what type of players / ages will Aion attract? Will it be the more mature crowd? Or will it be the WoW type population, or something else? Thats got me more curious then which side will be chosen the most. |

In my opinion it was not the idea of good and evil that created unbalanced poplations in WoW. For the year and a half that I played the feeling of the alliance being "favoured" in a sense continuously grew. Orgrimmar for example was lacking detail and excitement in comparision to Stormwind or Ironforge. I felt as if I was never going to escape the endless desert environment. Another problem was that once the poor treand of unblanced populations began it was hard to stop. Spending hours and hours spamming the LFG channel in hopes of finding a group for any instance made everybody want to reroll. I do not believe history will be repeating itself because from all of the screenshots I have seen the Aion environments and cities for both Elyos and Asmodians are appealing.

despite the stylized graphics, the Elyos resemble us whereas the asmodians are more alien looking.
Initially, I would expect the Elyos faction to have more players. I think the biggest turnoff for potential asmodian players isn't the character models (which can look pretty cool), but in the description of their world, they are mostly in darkness. People are just gonna assume you're going to level in dark, depressing places (which may or may not be true). the elyos landscapes are breathtaking, and the Asmodian side just doesn't wow nearly as much. I haven't decided which faction. I'll eventually play both so I can see more of the world ![]() |

I always prefered non-classical looks, hence I'll roll Asmodian. They just don't have that odd sweetening angelic look that you find anywhere.
As far as balance goes, I'm actually hoping to be outnumbered by the number of Elyos players, will be much more fun. We'll have to wait till release (which is when, I guess release got pushed back to summer 2009 ) and see.Until then, be glad my bow isn't shooting any arrows yet ![]()

In fairness you'll get maturity and immaturity whichever faction you choose everyones different and thinks different but from what iv seen on these forums a majority of players are sick of immaturity and actually want to enjoy a good game with fellow gamers.

See, on my server in WoW, a lot of the kids wanted to be bad guys, while the more mature people wanted to be serious and play alliance.
That's why I'm sure it's gonna be about the same on each. Some kids wanna be dark, some wanna be good.

WoW was annoying to say the least because it was so easy to reach end game it was nearly impossible to find just any old person to group with, and their LFG system was something to be desired
i also changed to Elyos ![]()

I actually only was interested in Elyos when I didn't know the Asmo existed. ^_^0
I <3 rugged, and yes hairy men, so the instant I saw the Asmo I was in love! The manes are not out of control, I think they are very tasteful, and cuddly! Not to mention I played horde on wow, so I am more attracted to the underdogs and the more "evil" or dark settings. Whether or not the Asmo are truly evil or the settings are dark doesn't matter to me, cause they are still way more attractive for me. As for the immaturity of Elyos or Asmo players, I really doubt we will see many, if any extremely young players considering the type of computer this game will take to play(even on low settings). |
