Yeah, because Blizzard DID something about it. NCsoft Korea would just sit on their *** and ignore complaints about such a mod. NCsoft Europe would say they planned on doing something about it but nothing would happen because NCsoft Korea would just smile and nod their heads and ignore them. NCsoft America wouldn't even have a way to talk to them, email, helpsystem, or otherwise, because they're too busy trying to get Garriot's failed creation TR to be profitable.

Do you see where I'm coming from a bit better now? To be honest, I think NCsoft needs to be restructured and someone with charisma and love for the fans, not just profits, needs to be put in charge. All three offices need to be unified and the flow of information between them needs to be like walking down a hall and poking your head into your buddy's office. Fans need to be able to contact the development team directly somehow, and the development team needs to listen to fans of all nationalities with equal importance.

Didn't NCsoft Korea walk away from E3 2006 with the idea of "Free-flight"? They got it from an American convention? And what do we have to show for it?

Doesn't seem like people put much faith in NCsoft. Can Aion really be good if the company behind it is so helpless? I guess some radical policy changes would be in order.

I'm confused here. We have free-flight, do we not? Sure, it's only for a short duration at a time but it's otherwise free. I've seen some people wish they could fly more, though to be honest, I don't think it would work game mechanically so I agree with the dev team on this decision.

Before E3 2006 Aion's flight mechanic was purely visual. It was "on-rails" completely, like a Gryphon ride in WoW. You had NO control.

Some of Aion's lead devs watched players try the game at E3 2006 with lvl 50 characters. Players wondered why they couldn't fly characters where they wanted to. NCsoft thought it was a good idea and spent a year working it DEEP into the game, where now it's a main component and entire areas are designed around "free-flight".

How's that for a history lesson? NCsoft got a great, huge, marketable idea from some probably-American nobodies at E3 and what do English-speaking players get in return? Just a game. Just a game that has been focus-group tested on a bunch of Koreans. No Europeans, no Americans, no Australians, no Filipinos, no Canadians, no South Americans, no South Africans, no Russians, none. We have these "Suggestion Phase" threads, but will the ideas we come up with in them ever actually get implemented by the Aion Team, Studio 5, in Korea?

Nah.

I'm not a pessimist, I'm a realist. Someone at NCsoft HQ needs to realize the entire world matters, not just one corner of it.

Mark. If it ever comes to a point where we get a chance to make them understand and my voice will be worth something, I'll stand directly behind you, being your backup.

After Lineage2, NCsoft got quite a bad reputation for not giving a **** to what was happening on their servers. Hope that changes in Aion but if it doesn't, it will be an excellent game down the drain.

But i'm willing to give them the chance to work things out this time. Otherwise, I wouldn't be here...

i 100% sadly agree to marks statement im worried about aion being a second rate crappy MMO from the get go with laggy servers positioned only in Korea and the game having alot of exploitable things that wont get changed and second grade English translations making the game feel more like a small time F2p MMO more than the glory we have made it in our minds.

Come on guys, cheer up. Have you seen the Lead Designer interviews? They are all in English, this means they are not leaving the west world out, it means they do care up to a certain extent.

Yeah, it kind of sucks that Korea will have preference because is being made by Koreans, but hey, they deserve it. I hope one day the West can develop a game as Aion, but for that to be possible we would have to change the way we see the world. or else we will have WoW's all over.

The ultimate MMO would be one that someone of every demographic wanted to play.

So far there's only one of those, and it's extremely boring:

Wow style addons are a bad idea imo. I think the devs should prive addons for every1 so every1 plays at an equal level.
Most addons like wow's style do make the game too easy / boring.

some addons i wish i had wile playing aion that didn't have anything to do with the game apart from a look/design and talking to people.

my favourite was a trivia bot which i would turn on in guild chat or party chat just for something to do wile farming or completing an instance

but i don't believe aion will be moderated enough for this to be possible because it will make the game too easy and will probably lead to mass botting

The UI customization will probably be exactly like Guild Wars. Exactly.

I'll be surprised if there is native support for skins, because with skins you are introducing the possibility that players will use a really ugly UI, post a bunch of screenshots, and turn off potential customers from looking twice at the game. You've got to keep that creative control if one of your main selling points is style.

I started up GW again yesterday and to my surprise found some new options since I last played it two years ago. Chiefly the UI customization. You can move everything, like...anywhere. That was pretty cool, but I didn't move anything because I'm used to playing exactly how GW was first made.
