Sad to see the poll results show abunch of noob WoWheads want to play aion and need to have addons to make it so they can push one button the whole time to make everything happen. haha i loved it in wow when sometimes after patches mods wouldnt work and guilds had to cancel raids cause so many noobs couldnt play without their addons. Ugg sry wow is just so easy and carebear I just hate to see new MMOs trying to do the same and scared to go back to old school with some actual challenge in the game.
Initiating flame sequence. Flame on!!

They could hire me to GM and then you wouldn't have to worry.

Either way, I'm going to play Aion because the game looks awesome, the graphics are just beautiful and the overall game play just seems to be what I would like in a MMO, the UI is a minor detail that I could live with what ever they gave me, it wouldn't be the end all for me.

Having the customizable UI is nice, but as it is now AION has a very nice looking UI to begin with. The problem with releasing full customization is language barriers between English and NCSoft... It could take a while to block an addon, that is my only worry.

I had to ROFL when Aylas mentioned Tabula Rasa, CoH was alright, though I haven't looked into it much, but TR is a halmark for releasing an unfinished game. And in my experience, Customer Support has little if nothing to do with the quality of the game, they could field every question and ensure the developers knew everything players had a problem with, but outside of small bugs, if the developers were paying attention to their game and knew how to make it better, they wouldn't be waiting for players to tell them somethings wrong. Usually even if they do have to wait for players to tell them something is wrong, either they know it and are avoiding action, or they don't and can't come up with a good solution to begin with, which is why there is something wrong.
As far as I know, Arena.net has no hand in NCsoft, it is just a development company published by NCsoft, I personally don't have any record with NCsoft outside of the media, but even their own advertisements for TR presume that they are not doing well in subscriptions, it is still a great game from what I've learned, just not a finished one. As I was mentioning before though, how few MMOs actually have a solid release? WoW servers crashed, many big time innovators tanked after major release problems, FFXI didn't even get a balanced version of their professions working til 3 or 4 years after it's release, not to mention many bad adjustments to the gameplay, GW is in in never ending state of alteration, but what's really bad is that it never ceases to get worse, not better, and what else is out there? I'm not worried about a silly features, or even a solid release, I'm concerned about the gameplay value behind the game which has the opportunity to provide the action packed gameplay they are claiming, and I'm concerned about how effectively their development team will pursue innovation and advancements in gameplay, during development and after release. I hope to god I don't have to play crappy and boring classes because a bunch of idiots can't play a tactically diverse and action packed game, all I have to say to that is. ![]()

I generally don't trust anyones comments regarding a companies performance unless they a) worked there themselves (and then they wouldn't talk about it here) or b) I'd work there myself and could confirm the allegations.
Apart from that, many people forget that there's a vast difference between Developer and Publsiher and also between the different NCsoft companies. L2 is completely run by NCsoft US, while GW and CoH for example have dedicated community support from Europe (which I guess is mainly due to the fact that L2 was launched before the EU division existed). Beyond all that (and that goes to anyone complaining about WoW's customer support, especially after launch) you have to keep in mind how many people and resources are required to support a MMO. Any MMO. Then think how much mor eeffort it takes to support a game with 2 million active subscribers. Quote:
I've played my fair share of MMOs and I've got many freinds I know irl who themselves have played their fair share. And I know no person that has ever been banned unustified. But even if these stories are true, you have to keep a perspective here. How many of these mistakes appear? 5? 10? 20 a year? Now compare these numbers to the number of bots/hackers/scammers that do get blocked over a year. 10thousand? 50thousand? more? Do the math, here are some numbers from Guild Wars: Quote:
And if Player X is too stupid to communicate their problem to the support, it's their own fault. And don't give me that rubbish about not getting a response. If you're in the US you can even call them. @Mark (Administrator): May I ask why you even bother running this fansite if you have no belief whatsoever in NCsoft? Imho you're in a role that requires a bit more integrity than posting what you are posting here. On the one hand I guess you expect support from them while on the other hand you're talking bad about them behind their back... I'd give you a good slap on the wrist for that. |
