Females and the reverse armor rule

Wouldn't this discussion be more appropriate for AoC, where the female characters CAN be completely topless? I mean... I'm not seeing where the problem is with the Aion Character Models.

I'm not sure if it's truely topless or just "technically" topless but my buddy rolled a female toon specifically to play her topless @ all times. As a matter of fact, he's stated repeatedly that he's so unhappy with the gameplay that he wouldn't play it if not for that ability. ;/

That's his thing, I wouldn't lose defense and stats for nipples, but I won't knock it either. ^^

@Celestin I've rerolled a few times and I get that one most of the time, when it's the red one I really like.

Like I've sort of said before nudity or the baring of skin isn't what will cause the earth to implode.

No, it wouldn't. You seem to completely misunderstand my point. To this, I will repost exactly what I said a couple of pages ago (except, let me bold some parts for the people who continuously misunderstand the post):

1. it's nice to have different armor styles available, especially for lower-level gear, with interesting--and yes, even skimpy--designs for walking around in the main city and just joking around and socializing and having fun.

2. being able to go completely nude would be a nice addition to any MMO, and I know AoC went through a whole battle for in-game nipples, but it's also rated mature so I don't see that happening to any mainstream MMO anytime soon.

Once again I would like to reiterate I am not against nudity, or less-than-full coverage in general, but I think that for armors to consistently cover less and less as they level up looks corny and (when fighting) I would like my character to look badass, not silly.


The end. This is it. If you don't think it looks corny, you don't think it looks corny. You can say so here. You can tell me why. You can tell me why you like the reverse armor rule and why it makes sense, and I'm saying why I don't like it. If you want topless characters just go buy one of those 3D sex games. I don't really see the point in having "naked" chars, lol I mean I'm not against it ha, but yeah I agree, the whole sprinting with high heels and the fighting in thongs and fishnets....just idk doesnt work well for me. I just don't see how its possible, but hey if you want to be the type to seduce people to try and kill them...by all means let me be your subject, but other than that, they may as well look bad *** also....although showing a little leg sometimes couldnt hurt

But seriously, these are just pixels on a computer we're talking about... I don't see any point in including topless characters, you should be wearing sweet looking armor anyway.

Missing the point entirely. Nudity does not equal sex. Neither does showing some skin, that what's wrong with the whole picture. Yame's below point is a good one too, why the heck do you have to lose pieces of your armor the higher level you are and the more powerful your armor becomes? It should be more consistent and give us more choice. I think the appearance tabs showing up in a few games can go a long way to fix that and help people look the way they want to. Whether it's skimpy or in full armor toes to helmet.

Ok see, the "sex" was not to be emphasized on. That wasn't the point of my post. I was merely stating that if you want nudity go buy a 3D sex game, although I suppose you can get a game where you characters are just nude and walk around all day. My point was the fact that there really is no need for nudity in an MMO. None. Which is why I proposed the idea that if thats what you want, go get this item. It had nothing to do with the "sex" part. But nudity does a lot of times involve sex...and then again this topic isn't about sex.

There's shouldn't be nudity or scantily clad people in ALL mmo or games for that matter, but there's no point in saying there shouldn't be in any mmo. People from all ages and all walks of life play these games now and as the market opens up you'll want to add more choices in flavor and in themes. That includes MMO's in space, even more fantasy mmo's, or heh how about those pirate MMOs? You'll also have the opportunity to make them for children, Hello Kitty and Barbie online, and for people of a mature age, Age of Conan... I can't think of another one.. There's tons and tons of Teen rated stuff out there because it's safe and popular and will bring in the most demographic, at this time. But that is changing.

If we're going to say that skimpyness, nudity whatever should not be in MMOs then I think we better take away the violence as well, because honestly what is more harmful? Simulating killing each other? Or walking around with a toon with a barely there bikini armor? Silly right? ^^

No, I actually understand what you're point is perfectly. HOWEVER, seeing as how none of the character models I've seen in AION have been especially bare, I don't understand why the discussion is brought up in regards to THIS game. That was my point, though I chose to express it in a bit of a joking manner. The amount of exposed skin does not necessarily inversely affect how "badass" a character looks. Or at least imo. Either way, there's really not too much to be concerned with here, at least not yet.

I said nudity...not "bewbs", if your gonna have ****s, you might as well have everything else. And you might as well implement sex into the game too along with the violence. How about violent sex?

A valid point, ok I didnt really want to get in a huge argument over clothing or lack there of. And I didnt realize that there was "nudity" in MMO's. But I don't see the point of having it in this type of MMO. I don't see any harm either, but its really just unnecessary to have it. If I played a female character, I'd want her to look badass and taken somewhat seriously during battle or w/e. Sure be naked it town if you want to mess around like she stated previously, but during battle....no.

Also, some girls that play the game may get offended by it. They shouldn't have to play a Male char just for the armor style, and feel like they're being "exploited" or w/e. Which is why I think this topic was mostly brought up.
