I am a female and always play a female. However, my boyfriend always plays a female in games as well.

The difference between us?

He doesn't go and buy cute little dresses and keep them in his inventory to wear when not in combat. He doesn't play with emotes because they are cute. He blatantly talks like a "dude" and makes it known he is a dude to everyone. He acts like a guy ingame and I act like a girl in game.

Why does he play a girl? He thinks that guy characters in most MMO's look retardedly gay. He doesn't want to watch some male butt prancing behind everywhere they go. He'd really rather stare at a girl character. I guess he has no problem with it since he has played games like Tomb raider etc where he is a girl by default. (That's some direct quoting from him by the way)

I don't consider is trans gendering as he isn't hitting on anyone. I just think it's a visual preference that a lot of guys have. If he was hiding his sexuality to all of his friends he makes online, I may be worried.. but when a guy talks to him, he makes it known he is a guy pretty instantaneously...

I think the bigger issue is the people who are worried about guys playing female characters. This is going to happen everywhere. There is nothing anyone can do to stop it. What you need to know is MMO's aren't a place where real life gender should matter. You will most likely never meet the person on the other side of the screen so their sexuality should not be a concern for you. You are in that game to kill monsters, quest, get gold, join a guild, party, have fun.. not worry about other peoples real life sexual orientation. If your primary concern for joining MMO games is to meet people in real life, you might want to go to a dating site first, no offense. I'm sorry, but the last thing on my mind when I'm in a group with someone killing something is if they are male or female. That's just how it is.

(BTW, this was not a personal attack at anyone in this thread. )

I am a girl, so I always play girls. I had a male caster once, but it was just too creepy thinking that people would see me as a guy and think I was a guy. ^_^0
I think I'm way too bubbly, thus I would have come off as a Metrosexual male. o_o

Wrong!! I think plenty of the male characters in majority of the games I've played are very appealing!^_^<3

L2 Human males = cuties
CoH/CoV males = hot in the right outfit
FFXI Elvaan males = hotttt Human males = cuties
WoW pretty much all of em are either cute or hot
GW Warrior males and Dervish <3!

Yes they are pixels, but it is art as well, and art can be beautiful, sexy, ugly, etc. So don't judge me! >;D

I've always created Male characters, I like to think of my guy as a representation of myself. That being said I always am more of the quick, sleek ninja type and in alot of games the men are made out to be big brutes with giant muscles so it doesn't quite look right seeing them dodging swords and stabbing 3x a second but still I always reamain a male.
I have watched alot of customization videos and it looks like you'll really beable to do alot, not just choose a body type but create your own so I'm very excited.

I like to point out it's that line that we all have to temper with to know the limit. I have no problem with guys playing female chars. I have no problem if they act like guys and talk like one, and not fuss over the little details of how they look and everything.

In fact I don't think I care about what they look like as long as they don't claim they're a girl, I know every men out there probably wants to be a girl here and there just for fun, but when you claim you're one and hits on guys, ...

Honestly I really don't care what people wants to play. Girls can play guy chars and guys can play girl chars as long as they're not someone I'm dating. However when it comes to someone that I'm dating I'd prefer if they played guy chars and seriously not care so much about how their char looks and everything else. It makes me question my own sexuality. I know it's off topic, but meh ;p

*sigh* I've been mulling over if I should post my reply here, but oh wells. I'm a guy and I normally play my main as male, and my alts are usually female. My boyfriend plays a guy all the time and will not play a female due to him thinking it's not butch to play a girl in games. When I do play on my alts I make it known to people that I'm a guy, but yes I have been hit on by some random internet dude wanting to hook up over the net o.O...the only time they leave me alone is if I tell them I'm gay (yes I am aware that I can/will get flamed for posting this).

Well I know a few guys who play girl toons and honestly I find it weird xD but then again depends on the person..some guys do it to take ingame things from other guys, (those who are lookin for gf or w/e,) which to me its funny and messed up..but guys are guys...so does not surprise me at all.. >.>‘
I also meet a girl in a guy toon cause she says guys hit on her and got tired of it..and yes it’s true u do get hit on. I played on my friend’s char which was a male and was so diff cuz guys bash on a male if they mess up ingame for any reason but on girls they take it more easy…
As for me I always play on a girltoon cuz as sum ppl have said before, I like to think it's me in game or make it so she represents me. Maybe thats why I find it weird if guys play on girl toons..Mainly the ones who say they are a girl in rl it's just weird! > IMO< (talking about the guys who also call themselves straight in rl) Only time I'll care if it's my boyfriend playing on a girl toon…
In the end I dont really care as long as I meet ppl to play the game with who are just there to play the game and have fun, girl boy trans gay happy 80y/o 17y/o who cares just play the game and make me LOL ^^

I don't think anyone would or should flame you regarding your freedom of choice. Honestly I admire your courage to state it. See the reason why it's okay from the way you act at least in my view are first you make it clear you're a guy, and second you're not manipulating the interest of random guys over the internet for itemz gearz money yada yada yada.
