Totally, it wasn't even in WoW (tho i've seen it alot there too). When I was playing DDO there was a warforged (think bodybuilder golem/robot) cleric who happened to be all of maybe 10 years old. Of course, he was a total newbie too, which just added to the absurdity of the situation.

I agree with the whole "bigger and manlier" thing, it is something that attracts us to men, and it would be difficult for me to grasp if he was short and skinnier than me!(Even in a game) >_<

As for my friend, I totally agree with you. The problem is.. I've known her since I was little, and she never had shown any signs of wanting to be a female.. EVER... She even had girlfriends, and as I recall was a pervert just like most other young boys..
I've talked with other friends of mine who have known her for longer than me, and they were just as stunned and confused as me when she first began to tell us..

I guess its just something that is hard for me to understand, I support her as much as I can, but its difficult for me to when she says she is a female, and a lesbian at heart...
That to me just screams, "I like girl on girl action" and then makes me think that she is just afraid that a female would reject her as a man..
Especially since she hasn't shown any interest in physically becoming a female, other than growing out her hair..
*sighs* Its just a difficult situation for her, and everyone who has known her to be in..

To me personally, its just frustrating because she is doing EXACTLY what causes the stereotype that females don't game. :[ And with her being one of my friends for along time, it just adds a "why can't I control this" aspect to it..

Ok, that whole situation sounds extremely strange, so I'm not even gonna try to analyze it too much, lol

I thought this was a guy who wants to be female and will do what he can to change his gender and sex, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I don't know what the deal is then, but anyway just because he's attracted to girls doesn't mean he can't be transgender. I mean, you can be a male who wants to be female who likes girls and not guys. It's really complicated.

Some people are just confused, some people want attention, others legitimately feel like they were just born into the wrong gender.

Anyway some people will lie about their RL sex, but I don't think you should let that bother you. I think most people realize girls do game, and if they don't then let them think that. Maybe I'm just getting old, but I never really care about what people think of me anymore.

General rule of the tumb - play as a girl character, cause a lot of gamers are boys / men, whom will be looking at their character for a heck of a long time. Game designers know this and seems to put extra attention to female characters. After all, boys have been intersted in the curves of the adult woman body since the dawn of time (for reasons I won't dwell on in here...).

If you're going to be looking at a game character for the next 3 years, might as well be a good looking one, right?

I applied this rule for GW (just about every class) and WoW, though I did make a male Bloodelf as a secondary char.

With Aion I suspect I'll make one character and stick with it, and it will be a guy. *crowd gasps* What...?

for all years i played wow i switched to female to male chars, randomly for no particular reason. I guess i wanted some difference time to time. Anyways in Aion i'll most definitely play as a Male Elyos, because male fits alot better to the whole "2h smashin part". ^_^

well, I'm a black male in rl and played male in everquest ect. but then at some point I started lineage 2 and suddently I was hooked on playing female player, there is just something about females beating up a male char with way too much testosterone in

God, back in L2, I played a female Dark Elf Bladedancer. Man...I got so many pervs trying to get at me I had to change my title to "I'm A Guy." >< My own "eye candy" backfired on me.

Depends, I just like to play as what looks better. Sometimes that's male and sometimes that's the female, depends on what I think represents what I like the best.

Well, to play a female chr being a guy is like to be a virtual shemale lol
But it's real that there are many guys trying to get a virtual-gf or a real-gf. Also that kind of guys often make presents to his "gf" and many virtual shemales take advantage of this, and I know guys who suffered that. I assume that's not the main idea but... It depends of the dignity of each one. Anyway some guys prefer to play a female chr only because they aesthetically like it.

posts like this make me sick... ppl will choose the cooler looking model. Virtual ****s have little impact, if the male is like WoWs human male and the female the same, you will have a large divide twords the female models not because everyone playing the game is gay, but because the males have stupid animations and look like wrestlers with IQs of 30.

i used to get made fun of by ALL of my friends because i used to play female ( male IRL ). i play female most of the time because the devs always put more work into females then males, plus the males in WoW just looked plain dumb.

Though i do understand where you guys/girls are coming, When a male plays female and pretends to female irl just to get treated differently. i have first hand experience in one of my old WoW guilds. Male playing female, always got help from every because he would beg and act all " cute " in chat and what not.. even had the Guild Leader buy his Epic mount for him. everyone always making moves on him. it just is pure annoying. its people like him which make people like me look bad. Just my 2 cents though xD
