personally I think you should be able to play whatever gender you want, its just the creepy 40-year-old virgins and people looking for relationships over the internet that kind of ruin it. i mean, theres gonna be roleplaying after all right?

I always get the kick out of any disscusion about this subject, when I read people with women in their avatars and signatures whine about "xx year old virgins living in their parent's basements plauing females", or "virtual shemales"...

I found it rather entertaining. Like I said, I prefer to play my RL sex male, but I've rolled a few female characters in CoX cause they're damn cute.

Here's my take: it's your 15 bucks a month, do what you will. Hell with those who disagree.

i usually play as male but in one game the females lvld faster and even had higher drop rate for items...so alot of my chars were females in that game

There is 13 pages of this dribble. None of it useful information what so ever.

This whole topic turns into juvenile locker room after someones gets accused of being gay. EVERYONE in the locker room has tp pipe up... you could be 3 rows down and just barley make out the word gay and your under obligation to make note: "By the way, I'm not gay. I just thought I'd make a post here and say as much."

Even though being gay isn't the issue at all anyways. Most people here would never behave that way in person around someone they knew was gay. I'd also guess most of you have even liked / respected someone in game who was male and playing a female character.

Which I think accounts for some of the venomous out lashes I've read here. Your demonizing a huge segment of the MMO population. 85% of MMO players are male, so do the quick math, if about half the avatars you see are female....? I think this topic has very little to do with which avatar a person plays and everything to do with someone trying to deal with their own emotions and insecurities. Thats why this topic is so volatile, it has absolutely nothing to do with the disguised male player and everything to do with why are people threatened by this?

Read through this topic and quote me 1 measurable damage, 1 quantifiable repercussion of having males that play female characters. You can't.
"They use people to get free stuff." This is by far and large the ONLY even semi-valid point I've seen mentioned.
And thats the best there is? Thats it? Thats your WHOLE argument? This is the source of your rage?

Then it degrades from there into un-aimed locker-room name calling...

I'm not even going to tell any of you to grow up, because I know you all. You the people in my party, your in my linkshell your the one helping me get my sub job items, and I know when your there Avatar to Avatar it's a different conversation. I know most you despite your flames are probably decent people. Topics like this server no purpose but to divide, they don't resolve anything, no answers will be obtained here. The person who started this top and the last one, were both slugs with no genuine interest in understanding the topic and reality of the game they play, these were both rooted from the first posts in fear and rumor mongering.

I normally play male characters but i play female on occasion. For Aion i will probably make a male character if i go Asmodae. However i was thinking a female character if I play Eylsea, mainly because most of the males on that side that i have seen look female anyway. I always let people know i am actually a guy if i get into an in depth conversation.

I'm male and I always play male, and if I were to play female I would probably write in my biography if the game allows that, that my characters were a bishonen that just happened to resemble a woman, and give her the smallest breasts possible.

O.o!!?? Most people are just voicing their opinions, nothing more and nothing less. Not everyone is going to respond in paragraphs and as long as we can read it and make sense of it and it composes itself into an actual thought, it's fine.
