Solo play?

K, I've been reading a lot, unfortunately with little luck I wasn't able to find any updated information on how far you will be able to play Solo in the game...

From what I've read on previous threads it seems like it is possible but if there's anyone out there who has any detailed information on it, I would be greatly appreciated... thank you very much. =)

Nothing detailed, but the interviews mentioned that you would be able to solo all the way to maximum level, only that it would be much slower than entering the abyss, which is a PvP, and likely team oriented area. I think they left room for it to be done either way, just faster as an incentive if you PvP.

I just realized something, I think I got the ability to PvE to max level mixed up with the ability to solo to max level, you know, I really don't know.

ide like the ability to solo to max level its a hobby of mine to speed level after i have done everything slowly and enjoyed it all, but i think partying is alot of fun and worth doing more than soloing (just my opinion im not trying to dictate)

they said that at end game solo casual players will be able to long chain quests to get high end gear like the hardcore raiders so solo casualists will also have fun at end game so no bad news they do realise that there is a big casual demographic to support. :P

solo playing wont be a prob in aion but its connected with 2 disadvantages which ncsoft has stated themselves in some interviews
1. the higher lvl mobs in the non-abyss areas will give u lower exp compared to the mobs in the abyss, so likely u will lvl slower
2. the mobs in the non-abyss areas wont drop as useful stuff as in the abyss

so IMO these 2 reasons are more than enough to at least visit the abyss

Wow, thanks for the great input folks... greatly appreciated =)

As long as it's possible I realize it'll take longer than grouping but at least it wont be like FFXI... in terms that you *MUST* have a group in order to progress further and gain levels.

Id like to have an opportunity to lvl solo if friends arent online.

So i guess being able to solo till highest lvl is a good thing.

It was NCsoft's idea to make this game playable through solo work. However, there have been some reports from Beta that it's quite hard to solo with certain classes, and even at mid lvls you start having some trouble to do it with any. I think that at some point you'll really have to team up with someone in order to progress on your exp gain. After all, people have to understand that a MMORPG is supposed to be played with other people, and not alone.

You will get a little XP bonus but don't forget that the XP is distributed evenly throughout your party. Not to mention level differences and such. Plus you'd have to be constantly attacking to keep up with a Solo persons XP that he gains since hes alone. Maybe this will help..

Level 20 Mob called Storm
1000 xp total

_________________
Group Play, 3 people, Group Bonus +35
------------------------
Sora lvl 19 gains 3335 Xp
Nectemar lvl 22 gains 2935 Xp
Higarashi lvl 17 gains 3635 Xp

_________________________
Solo
-----------------------------------
Just gains 1000 xp

Also note that group play has to kill 3x faster than the Soloer to keep up with the amount of XP he is getting, which shouldn't be a problem. This Formula has alot of missing factors like time, and other things that are in the actual game. Also this is just a hypothesis, not much of a good one but its general...

There was another thread similar to this before, had a bunch of formulas on it o.O

We all know that you lvl up faster in group. That's not the point of this thread. People are just discussing if it will be possible to lvl up a char to a higher lvl with solo gameplay.

What kind of math is that? Wackamatics?

+35 is only 35 more, x3.5 is what you calculated, and it is tripled to yeild toward each player. That's honestly not possible, I wouldn't believe something so broken unless I saw the logistics.

Rather, like any other game, your going to get a % boost and divide the total between multiple players.

1000 X 1.35 is going to be 1350, divided by 3 players, equaling 450 each. This in comparison to 1000 with no modifier but not divided. The value of fighting something in a group is that you beat the foe down faster before they can yield a relavent amount of damage, and specialize roles to pit your foe against the best of each role instead of toe to toe. The modifiers in most of these games helps promote the value of teaming up even though your dividing the spoils, ensuring that you will get more value out of the mob on top of your tactical advantage, not that your going to get 10 times more exp than the mob is worth in solo combat, that is ridiculous.

Though mmorpgs are supposed to be played with other people to get it's maximum effect, I don't see why the game has to force you into groups in order to play at all in the later levels, one thing I strongly disliked with FF XI was the fact that you couldn't survive anywhere alone later in the game.

The game should never force anyone into anything if they want the game to appeal to as many people as possible, there are people out there who enjoy their games more when they're on their own and there are people who unfortunately do not have the same social skills as most people do and tend to end up being lone wolves.
