This is what bothers me. "Gillsellers" (rmt; real money traders) and bots are what ruined FF. Why introduce what some of you try to justify as a "gold sink" if the end result will be what most people are complaining about? Another reason to grind endlessly whether it be for currency to buy said items or for the actual drop itself. It's still just another reason to grind....

Here's what New_Satan said about SS in CBT2:

As I said, monsters in Aion is very strong, you will lost a lot of money if you are spamming SS like crazy.
CBT2 is over. Got questions? We've answers.
It sounds like SS isn't going to be nearly as significant as in L2. +10 damage isn't nearly as critical as x2 damage. Only time will tell, but for the moment it sounds like it's just a buff for when you want to burst damage. And if they do have a cool down like somebody mentioned, then it's really not intended to be a constant source of increased damage.

Here's a description of soulshots from Fleiva:

To explain a bit more, this is how soulshots worked in Lineage 2 (text by Fleiva):

Soulshots in L2 were divided by grades, like weapons, No grade soulshots were available in grocery stores, the price was 9 adena each, and No grade weapons used 1-2 soulshots per hit, meaning you would spend roughly 10-20 soulshots per mob, the damage was increased 2x, so it was really good to level quickly, but you would spend a lot of money that would slow you down gear wise. From D grade (level 20+gear) up to S grade (level 76 gear) dwarves were the only way to get soulshots, due to their craft skill, they could charge you whatever they wanted unless they had a fierce market competence. Then we would have blessed spiritshots, for mages, which would increase their magic damage and, at the same time, speed up their nukes, those were way more expensive though, but again, necessary to level decently. The economy actually saw a profit from those, it was one of the few money sinks at higher levels and took a lot of money away from the market, people might be annoyed at them cause, at lower levels, SS were hard to get, until they added quests to get them, at least.

----------------------

And I don't think mobs should drop soulshots unless, during the fight, they use it and give the rest on death. Soulshots are player made so I don't see the point of mobs having them. A small drop chance seems fine and logic(Let's say the mob stole them or found them xP)

i don't like the idea of soul shots or anything like that because it puts a wall in and sure it might boost a side of the economy in game but i think making them player made for mats or even grinded of monsters is a good idea maybe if they were sold from a store at the same price for every 1, i simply don't like the idea of something that helps so drastically in both PvP and PvE.

i think a good external buffing system, potions, magic scrolls or some other form of implementation that is lest drastic that 2x damage would be allot better than this

then again i doubt I'd be against it at all, but because they are such a huge upgrade i don't think they should be implemented

The thing is, this game is about PvP. (Mainly, not all.)

People will be in the abyss trying to kill eachother, if say, 1 rich guild can afford to give all it's members SS, then that entire guild will basically be pwning harder than anyone else. Other people get mad, they buy SS, now their is more people with a small advantage, even more people are getting owned now, so they start getting SS. Eventually, everyone is gonna end up buying SS to keep up with the rest of the competition.

Seconded. I can understand people not being able to afford a better weapon or set of armor and losing in PvP because of that, but losing because you didn't spend money on SS? That's bull****.

Sounds like a completely terrible idea. However, I think every class needs some sort of regeants to play, some sort of cost. It balances things out.

Edit: However, when the next beta is out, its very important we rally against the idea to get it removed before the game comes out, so if you have the ability, complain about it!

Is there any game without a continous money sink at higher levels? with binded items, crafting, etc, I can't imagine any other way to take money out of the market cycle, if it only adds 10 damage? great for me. You could always stock up before going into the abyss, its not like if you were going to be in pvp danger the whole time anyways.

Some attack skills hit multiple times, that may or may not mean soulshots will also trigger multiple times, resulting in a significant advantage and maybe insta-killing the opponents without them being able to react. Let's face it, consumables lead to degenerate play.

I suppose those PvE drones who claim they "enjoy" grinding could have their fix, but at least disable them in PvP.

It is obviously preferable if the whole idea is removed. Maybe the next suggestion cycle can be one about gold sinks?
