In every interview, speech, in everything they stated: no grind, heck, Ken Choi himself talked about how they understand grind is not an option anymore....

I really really hope this is just smg the chinese site translated inaccurately.

Seeing that they (seem to to) have said that you can enter the Abyss from lvl 25 leads me to the assumption that there are different Abysses? Like the battlegrounds in Dark Age of Camelot or the Arenas for WoW?

Aion is not a quest based game. The amount of experience required by both races to reach level 50 is the same. The grind is expected to hit Asmodeans harder in late game than Elyos.

Interesting. Perhaps Aion might be slightly closer to a system with group based grinding (as is my hunch) as opposed to a WoW system of quests quests quests.

If anything like quests, missions etc. then not WoW, but more like FFXI, but with EXP rewards.
About the group based grinding... if it'd be like you say, then why do they state that the currently overpopulated Elyos would have a slower pace of leveling than Asmo? I mean, if they got more people = easier to make/find a group, hence it would be faster. Since it's not like that, I'm thinking that it's alot based on... soloing (they weren't talking about RvR or PvP EXP yet, just the PvE part I suppose), just as we saw it in most videos.
But I guess it depends on how many PvE leveling spots there are...

Thanks for the info. I'm wondering...once Aion is done open beta in the near future, does the rest of the world simply get 1 close beta or so, then go to open beta? Never heard about what they might do since Ncsoft hasn't talked about releasing it in NA and other places.

We don't even know about a beta. In fact, we pretty much know nothing regarding our versions. Look at the official Aion sites for EU or NA. They have stayed the same for years. lol

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I found this a little upsetting.

CBT3 will only start in over a month... this means an open beta in Korea is still a long ways off, let alone one here. I'm not seeing any way that I will get to even smell this game before Warhammer releases, and even though I don't want to play Warhammer at all I will get dragged into it if it releases before Aion, since my friends will be playing it and I will still be MMOless.

Also I hope what they mean by "grind" isn't what it looks like they meant.

Thats exactly the opposite they were telling us...

I believe they are just saying the game is more PvP oriented than PvP. So it's not that you have to grind to max level, you can in fact quest, but majority of the concentration has been placed on PvP aspects.
