SLI in Vista was just horribly broken for a very long time. This was due to poor drivers from NVIDIA. I finally managed to get my system reconfigured last night such that I have 2 WD Raptors in RAID 0 partitioned as follows (I have a separate 2-disk RAID 0 for games):

1st partition - 40GB - Vista x64
2nd partition - 30GB - WinXP x64
3rd partition - 30GB - WinXP
4th partition - 40GB - Linux

Getting Vista to play nicely with more than 1 "legacy" OS was a minor pain. Have to use GRUB as the bootloader and boot the Vista recovery media to run BCDEDIT to tell Vista the right place to boot from (winload.exe) after installing GRUB. Now I can boot all 4 OS's as necessary. The net result is that I will be able to provide some very accurate benchmarks regarding which OS is best for running a given game in SLI since they will all be running on the same hardware.

My prediction:

WinXP 32-bit for the highest framerate.
WinXP 64-bit for the smoothest gameplay and second highest framerate (due to being able to take advantage of 4GB RAM)
Vista 64-bit for smoother gameplay than XP 32-bit but with the lowest framerate of the 3.

I'll know very soon how well SLI is working in Vista. I'll post some results this weekend when I get a chance to try some different stuff out like ET:QW.

With those SLI'd 7800GTs, you should be able to run at impressively high resolution with all settings maxxed. The FarCry engine is one of those games that responds almost linearly when moving from one video card to two in SLI (or Crossfire, for that matter).
As Mark said, "That first line makes an awesome quote." And so it is! Quoted! ^_^

Here's my specs:

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego 2.2GHz Socket 939
RAM: CORSAIR Xms 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR SDRAM DDR 400 Dual Channel
VGA: Sapphore 100116U Radeon X800XL 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16
OS: Windows XP Professional

How do I fare?

Nah, not really, unless your CPU has 512kb L2 cache. I'd got with one that has 1Mb L2 cache.

If i'm not wrong this a64 have 1mb.

Hmm open for suggestions ?
1. how much u want to spend
2. how big monitor

We still dont know what ll be the biggest res. in game. So basicly for large monitors only 8800 GTS 640mb or 8800 gtx. No point for ultra bcs. u can easly oc previous one. Hmm i think reasonable conf for Aion is.

1. c2d smth around 2,4 and 2.8 ghz
2. gf 8800 gts 640 / radeon 2900
3. 2-4gb ram
4. raid 0
5. mobo ? smth around 100-200$
6. PS smth from seasonic 600-700W

As Sky pointed out, CPU-Z. It's by far the best tool out there for processor, motherboard, and memory information. You can find it here: CPU-Z

Or the direct download link here: http://www.cpuid.com/download/cpu-z-140.zip

According to X-Bit labs, at 1600x1200 with 4x FSAA and 16x anisotropic filtering, you'll pull about 48fps in FarCry. In the worst case scenario, you'll pull about 37fps at 1600x1200. The link with benchies is here: X-bit labs - ATI RADEON X800 XL 512MB Graphics Card Review. 512MB: Today’s Need or Reserve for the Future? (page 12)

Their test system used an Athlon 64 4000+ but they only had 1GB RAM. 2GB will offer a smoother gameplay experience overall.

And there we have it again- Korean developers making stunning mmorpg's capable of being run on average computers. My current PC can meet these requirements but I'm estimating it won't handle Aion visuals on full.

A reminder - these are minimum system requirements for the upcoming closed beta Korean client. Any Aion news is good news I guess, so I decided to post it up. I also can't double check the source - mmosite.com says they sited aion.gamemeca.com but I'm no Korean reader :P
Darn that means it wont run on my machine!
