Performance and Aion

System specs min/req
(not trolling just fairly curious)
Minimum:

CPU: Pentium 4 2.8GHz or AMD Athlon 2800+
RAM: 512MB
VGA: GeForce 5700 or Radeon 9600, DirectX 9c or higher
Hard Drive: 20GB available space
Windows XP or Vista

Recommended:

CPU: Pentium 4 3.0GHz or AMD Athlon 64 3000+
RAM: 1GB
VGA: GeForce 6600 or Radeon x1550, DirectX 9c or higher
Hard Drive: 20GB available space
Windows XP or Vista

Not bad for a new MMO. With recommended specs set at a 6600+ I can only assume one of 2 things. Either these Koreans really know how to program, or they are cutting some "fat" off the graphical interface. From what i have seen, the spared no expense on the actual character models, but they have moved away from an over detailed ground texture. The game looks beautiful but I wonder if thier recommended specs are for a general "medium" setting and the "high" setting textures require much more... hmm (WOW 20gigs btw)

Has anyone heard anything about the follow?

1. will this support multi-core cpus (not yes it will run on it, but will it be optimized towards them?
2. Once again i go back to the vid card requirments. Those are fairly "outdated" cards. Considering the huge MMO/Game demands on computers, is PlayNC targeting the older systems; a niche so to speak??? (AoC is targeting High/end or newer systems for example)
3. Considering they are planning to launch this for PS3 (from what i gathered) this is fairly underated for the system. Does anyone have some good information, posts, or articles about the Aion Engine/software or programming tactics.

I say all this because it seems they are doing so much with so little... just seeing if there is a catch lol.

Any info welcome, thanks

if i was a betting man id say those specs will change a lot by the time the game is released.

i really cant see how those specs would run the game after seeing all the screen shots and videos. on max settings and getting no lag.

i cant seriously see this game running off 512MB or even 1g of ram.
or being playable with those old *** outdated cards.
those are like the specs u need to run WoW on high settings, not this game. i just dont see it happening.

and a pentium4? people still use that?

What they put on the box for recommended specs usually means chugging along at 10fps at low settings.

Using those recommended specs will produce nowhere near the quality you see in screenshots they give you.

We've had this thread before, so I'll just answer the questions and close it.

1. No, Aion does not support more than one core at the moment, as far as I know. It probably never will. 64-bit support is a distant possibility.

2. The cards quoted are indeed old, but they are enough to run FarCry at pretty high settings while maintaining a decent FPS, so consider them a decent borderline.

3. Aion was not made for the PS3, there are no plans to bring it to the PS3 as far as I know.

Also, to get the most out of Aion I guarantee you'll need at least a mildly up-to-date machine. Zyuu had trouble running max settings on his GeForce 79XX series card.
